Probably my worst experience with any service provider in US. We put the system before relocating to England for a year. Three faulty alarms resulted in huge fees from police and ADT refused to fix it. Now we are moving for good abroad and they want to charge us $300 to cancel the service. My advice – never work with them. Once we are back this is the last company I will be contacting.
They show up the next day, and I ask a perfectly valid question about after my contract ends, and I stop being monitored by ADT, can I add additional sensors?  The answer? Sure! At $150 a piece plus the install cost for what was monitored equipment, but no longer will be.  I argued with them for a minute and they got defensive and condescending.  Fifth problem I dropped it, but they continued to beat a dead horse.  Finally, I asked them to leave and take their equipment with them.  They looked at me like I was crazy.  Maybe so, but I had had enough of them taking 6-7 hours to install a few plastic pieces around my house and answering personal phone calls and trying to get my dog to like them.  The last two are sort of petty, I know, but they were the icing on the cake for me.
Are the burglers smart enough to cut the TV cable? I use VOIP, which ADT can connect to, because I had them do that at a home I had in California. Having them use the cell chip is the smarter way. I thought because I had bad cell phone service my burglar alarm system would too but the technician taught me that they use a variety of cell tower signal strength (compared to just 1 that my phone uses) and there is never any outage. Cell monitoring is the way to go and most companies don't even offer land line service although ADT still will if you ask them too.

While most providers give you the option to add both indoor and outdoor cameras to your security package, SimpliSafe’s selection is limited to one indoor surveillance camera. The camera includes features like free streamable HD video and audio, 30-day storage, and night vision, but it doesn’t take snapshots of activity and can’t pan or move — basic features found on most surveillance cameras.
In 2017, ADT settled five class action lawsuits that claimed wireless sensors used between November 13, 2009 and August 15, 2016 were vulnerable to hacking. Claimants asserted that hackers could access a security system and disable it through certain wireless sensors used in ADT residential security systems. The suits were centered on ADT’s failure to disclose this potential liability. ADT has denied any liability and maintains that the claims have no merit. Rather than continuing litigation, the company agreed to settle and establish a million settlement fund in order to avoid the ongoing expense and uncertainty. February 26, 2018 was the deadline to file a claim in the settlement.
At the end of the install, he goes to test the signal…it cuts in an out (it was cellular).  Two hours later at 8:00, he still can’t get a continuous signal.  He tells me he’ll have to come back tomorrow with an antenna to put in the CLOSET (please explain how this makes sense) to get better signal.  This means more holes in my walls and another tech in my house and another afternoon of mine wasted watching these guys use their tools. Fourth problem I had.
After doing quite a bit of research into home security systems I was referred to ADT. After speaking with a sales representative and being completely up front and honest on my end, the sales person completely lied about the equipment that would be provided, the cost of the monitoring service, AND even the offer of the referral and gifts cards with their deal.

I have been with ADT for 4 years now. In the beginning I had some minor issues but things got better fast. I love being able to see what is going on from my phone, we have Z Wave setup so as I drive into the zone area with my phone it triggers the alarm to turn off. I setup my light automation and everything with them all for the same cost of Vivint's base package. Even though it was a slower start, I am one satisfied customer.

At that point I went through ADT's PR department and was put in touch with a different representative who was unaware of my initial outreach as just another customer. What impressed me later, however, was that even though I went through the consultation twice, both were equally thorough, professional, and both representatives recommended similar core security capabilities.
We recently had an ADT security system installed in our home and I have had few problems with this company and their rates are great!! My daughter has Vivint at her house and she pays around $30 more a month. I like that Vivint has security cameras and that you can look in your house and adjust temps in your house right on your phone, but I still love my system. What I do not like however is the practices used in my town to get customers to switch from ADT to Vivint.
I looked at so many reviews and everyone always has ADT in the top three. My wife and I were getting concerned about the safety of her and our new little one when I have to go out of town every other weekend so we got ADT and I must say the experience was refreshing. Everyone we spoke with knew what they were doing and we had our system up and running lightning fast.

I give them 3.5 stars out of 5. Their equipment is the only thing lacking to me compared to what I have seen with some of my friends but I also haven't upgraded to the new Pulse system yet so I can't really judge apples to apples. I do feel safer with ADT and had them 2 years now. Does anyone know if they offer infrared motion detectors with camera in them? I have seen these advertised but don't really know where to get them. Also, what are the add on costs for more equipment?

I have had ADT service for 5 years. This is after my cabin had a break in. The only problem I have had is the door sensor fell off and I was able to repair this myself. I can arm and disarm the equipment remotely by cellphone. When the alarm went off one time they were very responsive. Customer service advised me how to replace the battery in the key fob. My only complaint is I was given a discount for paying for multiple years in advance and this was not offered in future years. I requested additional yard signs and these were provided at no additional charge. I am satisfied with their service.

Many times agreed to vist me, let’s say Wednesday morning so I decided to stay and wait just to receive a call that afternoon to reschedule. Can you believe it? Not even explaining/apologizing first. Sensors falling and activating the alarm causing the cops to come to finally find out that the sensor simply fall from the double face tape it was holding it. Yes, double face tape. Also, if you move in the middle of the 3 years contract, you are not allowed to continue the agreement at the new address. You need to start 3 years again or pay the whole remaining months. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND ADT.
I was renting a house in the countryside in North Carolina. The landlord contacted ADT to install a new alarm system in the house. The previous system was no longer covered by anyone. The install was quick and complete. The only problem being the hall motion detector which they said shouldn’t pick up the movement of a 30# elderly dog, but routinely did. They disabled that sensor and didn’t have any more issues. Whenever there was an issue, they were quick to respond via phone and on one occasion had the police meet me at the house when a true alarm came in.
I had the standard alarm system for my house. There were several reported criminal activities in my neighborhood with loss of property and sense of safety. I called ADT to upgrade my system for many reasons including I was going away with my family and it was time to protect my property.They came out and installed sensors and a camera so I could take a quick look around the house from anywhere on my laptop.I can leave home without fear that the alarm will alert the police and I can take a picture of any unwanted intruder in the house.
