I do not know who trains these sales people, but their tactics leave a lot to be desired. Yesterday my husband was outside and a Vivint salesperson approached him and told him that if he were to cut our phone line we would not have service with ADT. My husband replied that he could not just cut them as they are on the roof and the salesman said he could cut the phone lines and break into our home and my husband told him that if he did he would get shot.

With your equipment in place, ADT monitors via six different UL listed monitoring centers. All of the centers are manned by professional operators who can notify you and the local authorities in the event of an emergency. Monitoring is offered via broadband, cellular, or a landline connection. Without a doubt, cellular monitoring is the safest option as it doesn’t rely on cables or wires; however, the option comes with a higher price.

Review Last updated: August 1, 2018. Before home security systems existed, ADT hired guards that securely transferred money for banks and businesses. Fast forward 130 years and they are now the largest home security company with over 7 million active customers. What do we like? ADT reviews have stayed true to their core business of home security while several others ventured off into the internet, solar or TV space.

If we are counting rankings then my vote is 4/5. I just got them cause I felt I knew them best. My family had ADT growing up and so I followed suite. I didn't really compare it to other companies so can't say I know ADT is #1 or anything but the tech that installed our system did it quick and they showed us how to work it. Their pulse app took some getting used to as I don't really care for a "smart" home and I usually end up using the key remote they got me instead of my phone.
Depending on your needs you can go with a system that you monitor yourself, or pay a subscription fee to have your home surveilled 24/7 by professionals who will contact your local fire and police departments when alarms are triggered. You can even take advantage of on-demand monitoring services for when you're away on vacation. Of course, the more coverage you have, the more you can expect to pay.
"Have only had system for 2 weeks. Easy to use and effective. Only problem is when in "Away" mode the motion sensor picked up our 13 pound cat jumping up on a desk close by...THREE times! Needs sensitivity adjustment. Police, however, did come each time, so it does indeed work. Not sure why I needed a motion sensor if none of the door/window connections were broken???"
Monitoring was fine, a few issues with some of the equipment and conflicting answers about how to fix it. But my biggest issue is cancelling services. It is a NIGHTMARE. I’ve called repeatedly, used their chat feature, faxed and emailed trying to cancel service. Yet somehow, they keep losing my request to cancel. They tell you it’s easy to cancel if you’re under military orders to move – just provide a copy of the orders they say. But the reality is that they’ll drag their feet and make you jump through hoops for weeks. Meanwhile, my house is selling, I can’t cancel service and I’m stuck paying for an alarm system on a house I will no longer own.
After doing quite a bit of research into home security systems I was referred to ADT. After speaking with a sales representative and being completely up front and honest on my end, the sales person completely lied about the equipment that would be provided, the cost of the monitoring service, AND even the offer of the referral and gifts cards with their deal.
First off, they will charge you an up front $99 to install, plus charge tax on that, even before you get a technician to conduct the review to set up the system. Then, the promise of equipment – they promise “pre-wired” door and window sensors, however this only actually applies if you have an existing security system and all sensors are wireless anyway, so really they offer 7 wireless sensors ($129 per additional sensor). They will bait you on by saying “a manager is on and will work with you to approve this” – don’t believe it, as you’ll never hear from that manager ever again, even when you have his/her manager id number.

ADT Home Security systems are very user-friendly, and during installation, the technician will show you how to use the equipment. There is technical support available to answer any questions customers have about the equipment. ADT offers professional installation, several monthly plans with competitive rates, and allows users to choose between wireless and hardwired systems. Overall, ADT security systems are the most reliable and the most popular in communities throughout the nation. Keep in mind, though, that customers must sign a three-year agreement for all ADT security monitoring plans.

ADT’s service is made of up equipment backed by monitoring. Their equipment is primarily made by Honeywell and DSC, two of the largest home security equipment manufacturers. The base of the system is the control panel; ADT typically uses the DCS PC 1500RK keypad or a PC 1500. The control panel communicates with sensors which are organized into zones and can protect different areas of your home. They offer PIR motion detectors, smoke detectors, heat sensors, glass break detectors, external sirens, indoor sounders, home security cameras, reed switches, and more. One of the most convenient devices is the key fob, which allows you to arm and disarm your home security system with the click of a button. The High-Decibel Alarm Siren is also worth mentioning; it signals not only threats from intruders but also fire and carbon monoxide.
If you’re renting or leasing, it may make a difference in whether you want a wireless setup or not. Wireless systems don’t require drilling, which your property owner may appreciate. But if you do end up needing to drilling, here’s a fun fact: in most cases you need only verbal permission from your landlord, so you won’t have to come up with a written agreement or anything like that.
J comes in and starts looking around and does his ultimate security evaluation which would cover every window door and crack in my house against burglars.  $5,000 to cover all of that.  I said no and he went down the list to cover just the downstairs, then the back of the downstairs, then just the doors. This was the second issue of his high pressure sales tactics “I’m not trying to scare you, but…” That’s exactly what it felt like he was trying to do.
The systems monitored by ADT use hardwired and wireless equipment to detect home invasions and guard against environmental damage. The system can also be installed to communicate wirelessly or by landline with the monitoring centers. Plans offered by ADT range from $37 to $53 per month. ADT requires customers to sign a 36-month contract (24 months in California). However, if the customer is not satisfied and meets the requirements, they can get a refund of all installation costs and monitoring fees up to 6 months after signing the agreement.

In my time with the system, the big winners so far are ADT's Pulse software, the IP video cameras, and some third-party add-ons, namely the Nest Thermostat and the Ring Video Doorbell. I say big winners because these are the components I use daily—the house hasn't burned, been burgled, or flooded, so I haven't much needed many of the other components, but I'm glad they're there.
When I first moved to my new place it had an alarm system in it that had an adt sticker on the box downstairs, when I called the number I instantly became leery of the overly confident man on the other end. I would buy anything over the phone so he told me he could send someone to my house to better explain things and “ease my mind”. I don’t know where they found this guy who was at my house about an hour later. He had an adt shirt on and came in and started wandering around my house looking at the equipment.

I got ADT for some reasons most don't think of. I am a business man and I know it takes years and years to build and structure a working business properly. I bought the ADT alarm because they have several monitoring stations throughout the USA all with backup features in case they get hit with a natural disaster. Their support is also levels deep in security and these are things you will not find in a review or hear about with newer companies. By them handling so many monthly customers has given them a reliable structure to handle big problems.
I have been an ADT customer for 15 years and 2 weeks ago I found out my alarm was not communicating with them so I called for repair. They told me nothing was available for 2 weeks so I set a date and was told someone had to be home from noon until 5PM. Appointment day at 4:14PM I call them and ask where the tech is. They have no clue and tell me they will reschedule for another 2 weeks out. I tell them to cancel my service and then they tell me I WILL OWE THEM FOR 30 MORE DAYS OF MONITORING after shut off. It doesn’t work – they fail to honor the appointment they set up and they want me to pay for 30 more days? Of course there is no supervisor available to talk to me but they could have one call me back in 24 to 48 hours. What an unethical unresponsive company. Never do business with them.
I had service with ADT for a number of years. During that time, I had one minor kitchen fire and incorrectly entered my alarm code one time. I was able to put a lid over the pan to extinguish the fire, but ADT called almost before I had done that. The night I entered my security code incorrectly, I went straight into the shower and didn’t hear them calling. (Living in a condominium, I had a silent alarm.) By the time I finished my shower, the police were at my door.Fortunately, those were the only two times the alarm went off, but I was impressed with how quickly ADT responded. I had shopped around before getting the system installed, and they were also offering a very competitively priced package.
Netgear Arlo Pro: The video resolution and frame goes for 1280×720/Variable, up to 24fps. Field of views goes up to 130 degrees. Night vision covers up to twenty-five feet with 8 IR LEDs. Connectivity measures at 802.11n Wi-Fi, 2.4GHz. The Netgear Alro Pro comes with a built-in microphone & speaker. Cloud storage holds up to seven days of footage for free. Further storage starts at $10/month. The pros are simple, quick installation, clean, intelligent interface with rich set of features, excellent video capture, very good audio quality, flexible scheduling, geofencing tied to your phone’s location, Samsung SmartThings and IFTTT integration, and very generous cloud-subscription plans. The cons are can access from only one device at a time per account, no continuous-recording option, and
Overall, I'm very happy with the ADT Pulse system. I definitely experienced some sticker shock at the initial setup cost, but considering the level of service and all the equipment installed, the price is justified, and on a monthly basis, not that much higher than most of the competition. The three-year service contract definitely lags behind our other Editors' Choice winner, Vivint, but it's not a big heartache if you know you're not going to leave your current residence and completely opt out of the ADT service inside of three years.
New service phone calls to the company may result in a transfer to a company known as Protection 1. Earlier in 2016, ADT announced its acquisition by asset management company Apollo which also owns Protection 1. The two companies, in essence, are now “merged”. Protection 1 serves customers out of ADT’s service region, and vice versa. However, ADT may not mention this relationship before transferring you.
I have been with ADT going on 11 years. I had the system installed because of a psycho next door neighbor (they have since moved – thank God) and this system has been my life saver not to mention my peace of mind. Unbiased – I am completely happy with them. Their response time is excellent and their customer service has always been prompt with helping me with billing questions, referrals or upgrades to my current system.
I am not sure when ADT took a wicked turn, but this company plays slick games. Over the phone, I was quoted $27.99 for a monitoring fee. The phone rep told me that I wouldn't be charged until the tech came to my home and provided me with an assessment/consultation. So I provided her with my credit card number. After I hung up the phone with her, I received an alert of a charge for $105. She lied = Slick. They charge you this fee even before they come to your home. A few days later the tech arrived at the house and said that a $27.99 monitoring fee was not possible and he quoted me a monitoring fee of $52, plus tax. While I did not agree with this rate, I figured I would test the service out for a few days. But before I could totally make up my mind, the tech's assessment turned into him immediately installing the ADT keypad without asking. I literally left the room for a few seconds and he had already removed my old keypad system.
Back doors are another common target. After all, the less attention an intruder draws, the better. Having a camera film any back entrances (or side doors and windows if you lack a back door) will help to verify whether someone has broken in. As for placement, somewhere up high where wires can’t be clipped — or by the doorbell, where burglars won’t want to do anything suspicious — is our experts’ advice.

*** ADT Pulse Remote installation starts at $199. ADT Pulse Video installation starts at $399. I have been an ADT client for a long time. At the point when my mom turned out to be sick and expected to remain home more often, I began to look into upgrading my system for one with video and ability for her to see who was at our door. After many research I found that plan require me to either include their TV products or services. Change I was not interested in making. So I upgrade with ADT, and our needs were met. My mother can choose whether or not she needs to her energy to answer the door.
One day, I burned some food on the stove and set the fire alarm off.  The phone rang immediately.  I mean, I didn’t need any help or anything, but the speed of their response was impressive.  The one time I did need this alarm was when I got robbed.  Some kids apparently walked out of my house with my most valued posession in broad daylight on a weekday.  Unfortunately, like I said, I hadn’t been setting the panel anymore.  So I had to make an insurance claim.  I’ve had no problems with the product or the monitoring service.  The only thing I would warn people about is in making the habit of using it.  I’m now considering adding video cameras, which has brought me here so I wanted to leave my 2 cents behind.  Thanks.
ADT offers a lot beyond basic home security (like medical alert monitoring), but the company charges extra for safety essentials like smoke and carbon monoxide monitoring, which other security companies include. You also have to upgrade for an extended warranty if you select either of the Basic packages. We’d like to see ADT cut their customers a break and create some affordable package options that include smoke and CO2 alerts along with a good, solid warranty for all plans.
Most outdoor cameras, like our current top pick, the Netgear Arlo Pro 2, offer motion detection with push and email notifications, night vision, and cloud storage for event-triggered video, and some, like the Ring Floodlight Cam, pull double duty as floodlights or porch lights. Some models can even tell the difference between a passing car, an animal, and a person. Look for an outdoor camera that will integrate with other smart home devices such as garage door openers, external sirens, and smart switches.

I really dislike that not one person is willing to back ADT and their processes. However, I understand the difference between Dealers and Corp. I understand everyone wants to save money and get the best, I am sure not one of you can walk in a Benz Dealer and pay the price of a Toyota. meaning we are not force to do business with ADT but yet when you have an issue that was isolated because of you not writing a check, did not pay for extended sevice, or did business with a dealer but want corp. support.

We purchased our ADT Security System 12 years ago, and we have been very pleased with the professionalism and quick response in the few times we have had to use it. Their was a break-in in 2009 while we were out of town on vacation. They called us immediately and the people were caught running down our street thanks to the quick response from ADT and the Sheriff’s Department. Of course, our teenagers have set the alarm off a few times while we were at work, but ADT handled it for us and were completely understanding and professional! We are so Happy and feel so Secure whether we are at work or on vacation!

We’ve been extremely pleased since our switch to ADT. Our business is attached to our residence, and our alarm system covers both office and living spaces. With two keypads and several trigger spots (doors, windows and a motion detector), we are fully protected at all hours of the day or night. We’ve had a few technical glitches, but our local response service has been very efficient in fixing the problems. And always so friendly!

The best value plan offered by Protect Your Home is called Basic Security. It costs $27.99/month, or around just $7/week. It includes a base security system, panel, motion sensor, wireless sensors, and a wireless remote. For an additional $2/week you can get Basic Security with Equipment Service Protection. Both of these plans require a landline connection, so customers without a landline installed will need to opt for the next plan up.

SimpliSafe does take a much more basic approach to security than the rest of our top five. You aren’t going to get as many bells and whistles with a SimpliSafe system. In fact, it doesn’t even use a control panel like other alarm systems. Instead, you get a central hub and tactile keypad. It’s a little old-school, but SimpliSafe is more of a function-over-fashion kind of system anyway, and it helps keep prices low.
I have a question... Wouldn't it be cheaper and more affordable to just get my own security cams online and run those instead of adding these to my ADT contract? My husband brought this up because his brother in law has security cameras around the house and they run off the wifi and there is no monthly bill for them. I think it is like $10 a month for the app, that is it.
We required all systems have Z-Wave Support — the most universal mesh network for communicating appliance to appliance. One of the biggest draws of a DIY system is the opportunity to add in third-party equipment (like Philips Hue lights or a Nest Thermostat) at any point. A Z-Wave compatible system can connect 1,700 home security and automation products from more than 450 companies. Plus, you have flexibility in where you place various devices because Z-Wave can communicate farther distances than competitor networks.
I was satisfied with ADT and as a single woman, my security system gave me the peace of mind I needed to relax in my home with out fearing for my safety. I also enjoyed knowing that when I went on vacation, my house was secure. Many advances in home security systems have been developed since I had my system though and I would love to see what is available now with closed circuit cameras etc.

Do-it-yourself security setups are ideal for homeowners on a budget because they can save you a bundle on installation charges and subscription fees. Most DIY systems are easy to install and are sold as kits that you can configure to suit your specific needs. As your needs grow you can order additional sensors and other components at your convenience and pair them to the system in a matter of minutes. Your basic entry-level DIY system may only support one or two wireless protocols and usually offers a limited selection of add-on components, while more expensive DIY systems will support multiple wireless protocols and are compatible with dozens of add-on components.
i love the fact of having a security system for my family i dont like the fact i have to pay alot for things to be covered under the system every window door and camera is extra.i love having a keypad but the response is very slow i dont like having a gap if the alarm goes off to when they contact you they should be calling as soon as alarm goes off the customer service is great price is ok but they should offer better packages to secure house instead of everything extra

Obviously I am not alone with my red flag warning yelp review. ADT is the most known, that is why I was hellbent in getting them, but I wish I read all the reviews before. I accidentally tried to sign up with a 3rd party  Protecters or Defenders, the "authorized ADT salespeople", are the sleaziest, pushy salespeople that took me hostage, almost threatening me that if I didn't sign up immediately, I couldn't ever go back to ADT. But because I did sign up with them, I could not sign up with a REAL ADT salesperson, that completely contradicted everything the ADT authorized salesperson said. An ADT salesperson said they always get complaints on the 3rd parties, because of the bait and switch, and yet you can NEVER get a REAL ADT person to quote you without taking your blood type and personal information and credit card. So I called their competitors and ALL of them were a better experience, you feel you can trust them and they want to do a good job, not just get your credit card and sign you up for a hostage contract. Although I canceled with the 3rd party, I still couldn't go with ADT, which was a blessing because I found ACS security which is far far far better, not pushy, quoted me everything, and they work directly with ASC. Don't ever go with ADT, read all the reviews. Maybe ADT will improve if they read their reviews on them. Shame on them.
The story: Founded in 1874 by Edward Calahan. They started out as a messenger/alarm service but quickly added fire and local authorities. In 1909, they were purchased by AT&T (a name you surely recognize). Shortly thereafter, AT&T sold ADT again. Fast forward some years to 1969 and ADT went public. In 1984, the were renamed and ten years later passed their one-millionth customer. In 1997, Tyco International Ltd. bought them out and since then they have acquired dozens of Ma & Pa security companies as well as big ones such as Brinks and Broadview Security.
When the tech installed my service he installed the motion detector upside down. Yes, upside down. I didn’t even know I didn’t have service for the first two months because it was scanning my ceiling. I had to go online and look at diagrams to figure it out myself that it was facing the wrong direction! Then they had to send someone back out for them to install it correctly. Then 6 months later, the electric door panel they installed craps out. I call them, and they tell me I have to call the manufacturer to send the device and then call them so they can come install it. Basically, I had to reinstall it myself (took hours) or pay to have ADT install it again.
Even though they tend to be more expensive than unmonitored systems, they do give you peace of mind. That’s because when your system is tripped, a signal will be sent to the company via your phone line, alerting them that there’s an intruder in your house. Within approximately 10 seconds you’ll receive a phone call from the security company (via the intercom system or your telephone), where you’ll be asked to verify who you are by using an authorization code. If you’re unable to do this, the police will be sent straight to your home.

While some providers outsource their monitoring to third-party dispatch centers, ADT guarantees its monitoring is done in its six dedicated command centers. Keeping monitoring in-house helps control for quality and promises the dispatchers have an understanding of your security equipment. Command centers are located nationwide and employ thousands of trained dispatch operators. And, they monitor around the clock, ensuring your home remains safe 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Unlike ADT and Vivint, Frontpoint home security systems are do-it-yourself installation. This means the company will send you the equipment to install on your own. DIY installation is easy and Frontpoint has a personalized website that will walk you through the process. And customer service reps are available should something go wrong. Like other top home security providers, Frontpoint also offers home automation and professional monitoring. However, only one Frontpoint package comes with video surveillance. But if you’re interested in Frontpoint, you could use a third-party security camera in conjunction with your Frontpoint system.
I contacted ADT twice. The first time simply as a customer, since I'd just moved into a new house and wanted a full home security system. ADT sales recommended its Remote tier, and I agreed, though there are other tiers to be had (see below). I also investigated SimpliSafe, but had a not-great experience with its customer service, and was heading back to ADT when the opportunity arose to review the Pulse system for PCMag.
Vivint’s mobile app allows you to arm and disarm your system, view and record camera footage, and everything in between. Our tester praised Vivint’s mobile alerts, noting that they come in handy for anyone prone to absent-mindedness: “The notifications for the door sensors are nice in case I open my basement sliding door and leave it open. It continues to check in and provide a notification that the 'sliding door is still open.’”
ADT Motion Sensor Protection embeds advanced safety methods into your home security system. From infrared to magnetic technologies, you can ensure your home security system is working around the clock. These wireless devices transmit signals to the control panel via radio waves, helping provide an extra layer of protection ensuring there are no wires for an intruder to cut. Motion sensor systems are battery-operated with strategic alerts to signal the control panel when running low.
The technician arrived to install the system and explained how the 2-way voice works. I think I will use the Pulse App feature alot more than this but it is a good feature to have. Don't count on getting a rate at the $36.99 mentioned price, most likely it will be around $45-50 unless you do the old land line system. Either way I got a good deal and a lot of free equipment so thanks for doing this research.
I had the standard alarm system for my house. There were several reported criminal activities in my neighborhood with loss of property and sense of safety. I called ADT to upgrade my system for many reasons including I was going away with my family and it was time to protect my property. They came out and installed sensors and a camera so I could take a quick look around the house from anywhere on my laptop.I can leave home without fear that the alarm will alert the police and I can take a picture of any unwanted intruder in the house.
Some of the best home security cameras are ones you can buy in addition to your larger system. Brands like Nest and Arlo offer high resolution cameras equipped with night vision and two-way communication. Most are affordable and easy to integrate with your system. Nest cameras, for example, are compatible with ADT and Vivint. Before purchasing a separate camera, make sure it pairs with your home security system.

I understand everyone wants to save money and get the best, I am sure not one of you can walk in a Benz Dealer and pay the price of a Toyota. meaning we are not force to do business with ADT but yet when you have an issue that was isolated because of you not writing a check, did not pay for extended sevice, or did business with a dealer but want corp. support.
Home automation refers to anything that you can control indirectly, either by remote control, mobile app, or IFTTT automation. (“If This, Then That” is a formulaic programming approach, i.e. “if I open my garage door, then turn on my living room lights and set my thermostat to 72 degrees.”) While some of this can seem a little convoluted or overboard with custom options, most operations are simple to set up.
I purchased an ADT home security plan through a door to door salesman. The setup and service were quick. Beside the home security update, I also get the camera doorbell and a motion sensor camera for my backyard. They both worked as expected until the last couple of months until I started to notice that the backyard camera no longer recorded and saved on the motion in the radius that is supposed to like it used to. It only saved when there is a bad (windy, storm, etc.) weather and "hit" the camera. A month or 2 later, the camera doorbell also stopped working even after I tried to reset it a few times. They quickly scheduled a tech guy to come out and tried to fix the issues. The doorbell working properly again, however, he wasn't able to fix the backyard motion sensor and wasn't sure on what could cause the issue.
Our family chose ADT as our Security Provider many years ago. We would occasionally travel, and ADT was the company that we trusted with our families safety while we were at home, and our personal possessions while we were away. ADT provided peace of mind that we would not have had otherwise. We owe ADT a great debt of gratitude for assisting in keeping our loved ones safe.
City-wide power failure Christmas morning 2015. Power went out while my daughter was preparing our traditional shrimp and grits. Soon after, we hastily left to grandparents' home for early dinner. Before the meal was over, we got a call from ADT. My daughter forgot to turn off the burner under the shrimp. We arrived to a yard full of firemen. Lots of smoke, but praise God, no fire. ADT contacted me and notified fire dept asap. This could have been a real disaster! System worked perfectly!!! Like a TV commercial. Thanks ADT!!!
I do not understand how ADT has such a high rating on this website when a simple Google search shows terrible ratings across the board. This is why I chose to write my review on this website. An ADT rep came to my house when I purchased it, and promised me personal service, and we talked about all the places that would be wired, and old equipment that would be replaced. We also agreed that the price would be comparable to what I was paying in my old home. Fast forward, I move from my old home, ADT makes me close out the old contract, start a new contract at a higher price. The tech shows up, the sales rep is nowhere to be found and doesn’t answer his phone, THEY DON’T WIRE ANYTHING ON THE SECOND FLOOR STATING IT WILL COST EXTRA FOR EVERY ADDITIONAL WINDOW. Within 48 hours of them leaving, an alarm they installed on one of the exterior doors malfunctions and they don’t fix it for 5 more days. All this for the BASIC coverage at $44/month. I can’t say anything about any of the other services, but the second my contract is done I will be moving to another provider as ADT is a terrible crooked company.
Home automation allows you manage features of your home — such as lights and door locks — with a mobile app or via voice commands. This means you can perform tasks like closing your garage door, adjusting your thermostat, or turning on lights even if you’re not at home. Most home security providers offer home automation and include a variety of smart home devices. If you already have a smart home and use an Amazon or Google smart hub, you can integrate your security system and manage it on the same app as your other devices. That said, it’s important to make sure your security system pairs with your smart hub before purchasing so as to avoid any issues when syncing the two.

The outside camera is hit or miss and has been since the system was installed. Overall, I'd say it works about 75 percent of the time. ADT has been out twice to fix it with neither visit making any difference. While it has a nice wow factor, the camera isn't really a lynchpin of the system, so I'm not overly concerned with it. Still, it is a primary component and you're paying for it, so overall it could use improvement.

Wifi is the basic connect for everything in this modern age. Desktop computers and laptops were started using it to connect to the internet. Then, Kindles, tablets, and smartphones got in on this source of connection for the internet. Now, home security systems are getting in on the wifi connection. Protect America sat down and took a look of the five top picks for wifi home security for 2018. This time, they decided to look at the cameras that use wifi for connectivity. They looked through Tom’s Guide and PC Mag to come up with this list. Why go for a wifi security camera? Tom’s Guide offers an explanation:
Are the burglers smart enough to cut the TV cable? I use VOIP, which ADT can connect to, because I had them do that at a home I had in California. Having them use the cell chip is the smarter way. I thought because I had bad cell phone service my burglar alarm system would too but the technician taught me that they use a variety of cell tower signal strength (compared to just 1 that my phone uses) and there is never any outage. Cell monitoring is the way to go and most companies don't even offer land line service although ADT still will if you ask them too.
We just moved into our first house 5 months ago in a neighborhood we didn’t know well, and getting a security system was very important to us. We considered several, and ADT just seemed to have the most bang for our buck. Our system hasn’t disappointed us one bit. Usually when I walk out of the door, my hands are full while I’m juggling a toddler. The app helps so much so that I can activate our system from my phone once I’m in the car.
I had a horrible experience tonight. I was home by myself with 2 small children. My flue lever broke, but I didn’t realize that. The house filled with smoke and the fire alarm went off. I put in the code multiple times to stop it. When I called ADT to stop the alarm (1 child was crying due to the noise), and it wouldn’t stop, the first man to answer tried to help...but he couldn’t shut the system off. He put me on hold! The second girl basically told me to rip wires out of my electrics to shut it off...first in the chaos...she told me I had to find a screwdriver!

ADT scores high by providing professional installation and top-quality relocatable products that can be customized to fit your needs and the layout of your business or home. Their security systems include an event triggered alarm, live surveillance, an assortment of indoor and outdoor cameras, motion sensors, door and window sensors, recessed door sensors, glass break protection, and crash and smash protection for their control panel. They also provide environmental protection, such as carbon monoxide, flood, temperature change and smoke sensors, as well as a panic button and an emergency alert button.

Current ADT customers.. If you are making changes to your home that will effect the security system like putting in new windows expect to pay for a tech to come out and fix or install the new equipment needed. Tech rates will be like what you should expect when you take your car in and have no idea whats wrong with it. You’ll see a up front rate plus an hourly rate. Equipment cost is a whole other issue.
Smart guy Dallin! So many people think a gun is enough but we hear so many stories of home invasions happening when the gun wasn't close enough to get or the burglar getting in at night and the residents sleeping through it until it's too late. At least with any alarm system in place you get a good 30 second warning to get things ready in case of a face to face conflict.
