i love the fact of having a security system for my family i dont like the fact i have to pay alot for things to be covered under the system every window door and camera is extra.i love having a keypad but the response is very slow i dont like having a gap if the alarm goes off to when they contact you they should be calling as soon as alarm goes off the customer service is great price is ok but they should offer better packages to secure house instead of everything extra
The only major downside to Pulse is price and its three-year service contract. When compared with other players, like Vivint or Frontpoint, the pricing structure is similar in that there's an upfront installation cost you can pay all at once or spread across the first three months, and then a monthly cost for maintenance and monitoring. If you compare only prices published on the web, then ADT Pulse looks very competitive. But in practice, if you opt for the higher end of the tiering scale and a modified system with a bunch of devices that aren't included in a basic tier package (and ADT will steer you that way), your price will quickly balloon. In my case, I wound up with an excellent all-around solution, but an eyebrow-arching upfront cost of $3,276.79 and a monthly charge of $63.89, which makes Pulse the most expensive solution we've tested to date.
I really liked knowing we had the added security. But when you have cats and radiators for heat, it is a fail waiting to happen. The cats get in the window for the sun and warmth, so it sets off the alarm. Then they like to lay on the radiators, which are under the windows, and it seems they touch the window and set off the alarm. Good security, lousy for pet owners.
I was very impressed and pleased with the service received today, Sept. 2, 2014 by technician xxxxxxx. He was very professional and efficient in changing out/updating my control panel and demonstrating features of my system that I never before knew. xxxxxx was respectful of my alarm areas and even dusted off the top of my control box so the dust wouldn’t fall on the floor. He ended the call by making sure I had no more questions or concerns and by conducting a final check of my system. He exemplifies true customer service!
One of the main reasons SimpliSafe took first place is that while you don’t have to sign up for professional monitoring, you have the option if you want it. There aren’t any contracts, so you can turn on the alarm monitoring for one month if you’ll be going on a long vacation and turn it back off when you get back. SimpliSafe also makes it easy to customize your system. You can always add new equipment to your setup if you decide you want more motion sensors or an extra wireless keypad for your garage.
Alarms, camera, motion sensors and more – the options are endless when it comes to keeping tabs on what’s happening in your home. You can now have peace of mind all at the touch of a button. Best part is, you can install most of this automated home security technology yourself, so you don’t need to shell out thousands to a security installation company or contractor.
"Have only had system for 2 weeks. Easy to use and effective. Only problem is when in "Away" mode the motion sensor picked up our 13 pound cat jumping up on a desk close by...THREE times! Needs sensitivity adjustment. Police, however, did come each time, so it does indeed work. Not sure why I needed a motion sensor if none of the door/window connections were broken???"
My family has been using ADT for home security for two years now. I always feel safer at night when I turn on the system. We set it as away when we leave for trips, and I know that if there were a break-in, it would be handled extremely quick! We accidentally set the alarm off ourselves once and someone called us within a minute. Definitely worth it.
Back doors are another common target. After all, the less attention an intruder draws, the better. Having a camera film any back entrances (or side doors and windows if you lack a back door) will help to verify whether someone has broken in. As for placement, somewhere up high where wires can’t be clipped — or by the doorbell, where burglars won’t want to do anything suspicious — is our experts’ advice.
When pairing your security system with smart features, the app enables a whole host of home control. You can alter home temperatures when the smart thermostat is too many stairs away or if you’re on vacation and want to monitor energy consumption. With smart locks, you can automate your doors to lock on a schedule and sync your alarm with your door’s entry pad (so when you enter the unlock pin, your alarm system will disarm, too).
If you stop halfway through installation and come back to it later, the site remembers where you left off. If you’re stalled at a particular stage for longer than you should be, a help window pops up on your device with a phone number to call. When you’re ready to activate the system, you call the customer service line, and a rep confirms that your system is online and fully functional. The entire process takes about 30 minutes.
This company sucks! They insisted that I needed an ugrade to my monitoring to wireless. They sent out a rep that changed my system to wireless. Well the sensor in my bedroom kept signaling that there was break in. The police came out 3 times, where I was charged for 3 false alarms. I called ADT to complain, they said that I had to pay for the false alarms and show them proof of payment to be reimbursed. They sent out their tech, that fixed the problem and I mailed them proof of payment for the false alarms. We went around and aroud with them sayig theey had to investigate the problem! What?! After 6 months of the back and forth, approximately, a supervisor tells me that they do not give... Read More
It's also important to note here that there's no direct connection between ADT Pulse and ADT Canopy. The Pulse service provides security and automation to your home that you can access and control via the web and your Pulse mobile app. Canopy is a personal and mobile service that integrates with other smart home devices or various Samsung wearables and basically gives you threat protection and access to ADT's emergency dispatch services on the go.

DO NOT USE ADT to protect your home. There are better services out there who will be transparent from the start. I’m beyond disappointed in ADT – for a company that has been around as long as they have you would think they would want to keep a good name rather than tarnish it. Oh well. When my contract is up in 3 years, I’ll be promptly cancelling and there will likely be better solutions on the market.
I use ADT in all of my tenants homes and they like it. I have a influx of new tenants constantly so each time that happens I change the alarm code and make them a new user login on the ADT pulse app. I realize most people won't need to do all of this extra work when it is just them using it. If it can hold up in rentals it is definitely a worth-while security system!
Also, don't expect ADT to listen to your complaint. You won't get past helpdesk support. They suggest you write a letter if you want to speak to anyone higher that helpdesk. A LETTER!, what century does this company live in. They must all drive to work using a Horse and Buggy. I knew at that point this wasn't the type of company that could provide me with the type of advanced security system you would expect in the 21st century.
To sum up the questions of ADT cost, California Security Pro offers you competitive pricing, great specials and we will match the price on any current ADT special offer or price for a comparable system and installation. After your questions are answered about ADT equipment costs and savings, the ADT monitoring rate is the other part of the home security system equation. Alarm monitoring with ADT's monitoring center network is unparalleled in the industry. No other company offers you 6 monitoring centers located across North America. You might be concerned that the best monitoring won't have the best price tag. Rest assured, it's all very competitively priced.
Do not use ADT! The salesman was a fast-talking con artist. My husband and I felt pressured to sign a contract without having time to read it. The salesman lied and told us we could cancel anytime. The contract is for 36 months, and if you try to cancel, you have to pay an incredibly large sum of money! Customer service is rude and antagonistic, and the actual alarm service itself is defective. Please don’t make the mistake that we did!
"When we saw there was an upsurge in break-ins near our home we decided to compare some of the different home security companies, and ended up going with ADT. Choosing ADT to keep our home and family protected was the smartest choice we could have made, so now we don't worry as much as before since we know we're protected by a company that's always keeping an eye on everything 24 hours a day. Thank you ADT!"
Odds are you don’t have to walk far down your street to spot an ADT yard sign. That’s because American District Telegraph is the largest – and the oldest – home security provider in the US and Canada. The sheer size and capital enable ADT to offer a broader range of services than its competitors. You can choose from wireless or hardwired systems, and even connect security systems from other companies to ADT monitoring centers. ADT security highlights include video surveillance, invasion detection, home automation with voice recognition, environmental protection, and medical pendants with GPS tracking.
ADT has been the only home security service I've ever seen my family use when I was growing up and now I've installed it in my own home! It's just the perfect home security because it got you covered in 150 places without stress. Their packages are great and the support is always there to clear any confusion so you don't regret any choice. Maybe I'm just lazy and don't care to do further research but it's always worked for me. I don't think they could be a scam if they have 7+ million paying customers.
I was told by moving we did not extend our contract. After moving a 2nd time I learned it was renewed without my notice. I signed a waiver of installation but it was changed to a contract magically. We pay for security when in fact we are paying the thieves. Absolutely no integrity about ADT whatsoever. No punishment for the representative who lied either. Probably promoted for a good steal
All ADT plans feature 24/7 security monitoring from multiple redundant call centers nationwide (which is key for that homeowners insurance discount), on-site consultation, installation by professional technicians, and 24/7 customer service. ADT makes a big deal out of that last one, considering it a competitive differentiator. Smaller monitored security vendors, like Frontpoint, may offer 24/7 monitoring, but its customer service is unavailable after a certain point in the evening. For issues like broken monitoring equipment, faulty alarms, and similar problems, having a human available around the clock can be a very good thing.
Even if we didn't get a military discount (I'm in services) I still would have gone for ADT. Almost all of my fellow comrades are using ADT in their houses and they don't have any complaints yet. Though obviously military discount is always sweet. It goes on to show how caring and patriotic a company is towards their nation. No home security company I know of does that I think.
I feel safer both at home and when I’m away. It took no time at all to get used to the system and set up additional codes for those special people who needed them. So far, I’ve only set the alarm off by accident once, when I tossed open a downstairs window one morning before turning off the alarm. Fortunately, I was close enough to the keypad to stop it almost as quickly as it started. It was a great reminder that the alarm is immediate and LOUD!
Hello Kai-We apologize for any issues that you encountered with the ADT authorized dealer. When you installed your services in CO, you would have signed and been provided with a copy of your residential services agreement, that clearly spells out the term of the agreement, 36 months. Should you have any further concerns, please feel free to email ADT at AlwaysThere@adt.com. Thank you. -Gabe
All of the systems we've tested feature an app that lets you use your smartphone as your command center to arm and disarm the system, create rules, add and delete components, and receive push notifications when alarms are triggered. Most apps also allow you to do things like view live and recorded video, lock and unlock doors, change thermostat settings, and silence alarms. Some apps will even use your phone's location services to automatically arm and disarm the system according to your physical location. The more expensive systems usually come with a wall-mounted panel that acts as a communications hub, with a touch-screen display that allows you to do everything the app does. The display lets you communicate with a professional monitoring service when an alarm is triggered and view video from any of the installed security cameras.
Yes. Certain ADT home security packages don’t require a phone line to connect to the command center. Safewatch Cellguard is a cellular network that directs alarm signals to ADT command centers. A wireless signal can be used as backup, but Safewatch Cellguard is also available as the main communication method between your home and the command center.

When we purchased our system it was for peace of mind for our home. Never would we have thought that it would be what saves our daughter. Thanks to ADT when her ex-boyfriend came through the front door they alerted the police of the intruder alert and just almost a mins after police showed and he was found trying to kidnapp my daughter. The quick response of alerting the police is what makes me stay and will forever be a ADT customer. Forever grateful.
