If we are counting rankings then my vote is 4/5. I just got them cause I felt I knew them best. My family had ADT growing up and so I followed suite. I didn't really compare it to other companies so can't say I know ADT is #1 or anything but the tech that installed our system did it quick and they showed us how to work it. Their pulse app took some getting used to as I don't really care for a "smart" home and I usually end up using the key remote they got me instead of my phone.
When it comes to home security I'm a basic kind of guy. I just want it to know if someone breaks in my house so I can have my gun ready and protect my family. I use ADT, it seems the most logical and they have treated me great. I moved once with them which cost a little money but they installed the new Pulse system at my new place since I was due for an upgrade to cellular anyways. I don't do the cameras etc. but I do turn it on and off from my phone and that is easy with their ADT app.

One day, I burned some food on the stove and set the fire alarm off.  The phone rang immediately.  I mean, I didn’t need any help or anything, but the speed of their response was impressive.  The one time I did need this alarm was when I got robbed.  Some kids apparently walked out of my house with my most valued posession in broad daylight on a weekday.  Unfortunately, like I said, I hadn’t been setting the panel anymore.  So I had to make an insurance claim.  I’ve had no problems with the product or the monitoring service.  The only thing I would warn people about is in making the habit of using it.  I’m now considering adding video cameras, which has brought me here so I wanted to leave my 2 cents behind.  Thanks.

The technician explained that ADT’s broadband systems have trouble connecting to Suddenlink routers, which our tester had, so he tried a different kind of command hub. After he left, our tester noticed he was charged $190 more than his original quote. The new equipment was significantly more expensive because it worked on cellular signals instead of Wi-Fi. We wish we had known about that extra charge upfront.
So I have a ADT Alarm System in my house that was already here when I moved in and recently today the power randomly went out and came back on which I guess rebooted the system. I decided to step outside to see if everything was okay and when I opened my door the alarm went off and was extremely loud.. I held my hand over the speaker to kill most of the sound and decided to call ADT because I didn't know what to do I never had this happen to me before. When I called ADT the guy told me someone can come out tomorrow to take a look at it and stop it from making noise but I had to pay $100. This is for a security system I didn't set up, so I just had my husband unplug everything for now. Going to have the ADT rep still come out and see how much it would be for a new system to be put in. Most people probably don't fall into this situation but hope it helps nonetheless.
Pricing on Canopy, assuming they move forward with the idea, will depend on what service you choose. In general, it’s significantly less expensive than other ADT options. Through a hands-on experience at CES 2017, I learned that their Panic Response service will be the cheapest Canopy option starting at $10 per month with burglary monitoring starting at $24.99 per month.
When your kids grow up, you don’t stop worrying about them – OR your house. With remote access I can check to make sure the doors are locked, and even when she doesn’t pick up the phone, I can check on her, too! Because as any parent knows, your kids are far more valuable than your stuff, and peace of mind is at a premium when you’ve got teenagers!
Some of the more expensive cameras are equipped with humidity and temperature sensors and will interact with other connected home devices such as thermostats and smart lighting systems. If you want to save some money, look for a camera with an SD card slot that allows you to record video when motion or sound is detected, but remember to save your recordings every so often before they are overwritten. Alternately, look for a camera that offers a cloud storage plan.
I have had ADT since 2002 and as of today I'm canceling the service! After a recent move, they tried charging me more money for less equipment, sent me a bill for over $400 because of "early cancellation" although I had an appointment scheduled for a new installation, and removed a payment from my bank account after the service had been discontinued. They gave us a huge hassle for stopping service at a house we no longer lived in! Anything (equipment changes, moves, etc.) starts a new three year contract. In the amount of time I have had ADT services, I could have bought and paid for multiple, more cost effective services, not to mention the level of customer service. I am done!

Today I had my 14th visit from ADT since I got their system in June. This is after they replaced the entire system one month ago. There is yet another problem and they have to come out next week again. Please DO NOT buy anything from ADT. I payed $3,000 up front and $67 a month for nothing. I can’t get out of the contract unless I pay another $1,000. Anyone but ADT.


I have experienced ADT security at several different places I have lived. The customer service reps are very professional and helpful. We experienced one bad experience where the alarm was going off for some technical reason but we received the phone call and the alarm sent the police to our house. It was a big mess but the only time that ever happened and considering the rest of the time our customer service was exceptional so we kind of over looked the one bad experience.
