My family has been using ADT for home security for two years now. I always feel safer at night when I turn on the system. We set it as away when we leave for trips, and I know that if there were a break-in, it would be handled extremely quick! We accidentally set the alarm off ourselves once and someone called us within a minute. Definitely worth it.
Never fulfilled offers at time of installing system. Put in wrong name of person living in the home. Needed supplies for system that was to be sent over a year ago and still don’t have them. Still being billed for service after cancelling service 3 months later. Scheduled an instillation for my daughters home and they never even showed up. New company offered alot more at a lesser rate. Very happy they have even come by twice since changing over to see if I have any questions. So glad I made the change.
Well - after being an ADT customer for 5 years and really never having an issue with one exception. when we bought the newest indoor infared camera I was not excited about the fact that it doesn't work in total darkness like they say. That is usually not an issue because we have a light turn on if it senses motion. The issue came when the light bulb burned out and the camera did sense motion but all we got was a clip of total blackness. Also the 4 minute reset is definetly an issue. When will ADT fix this? I am considering a nest camera because of these issues.
Here’s how it works: When the Canary detects motion, you get a notification on your phone that leads to a live stream of your home so that you can assess the situation. We had complete clarity at over 30 feet in pure blackness, which was the entire length of the room we used for testing. The video stream also appears a bit more stable than other DIY systems and seems to have less latency.
Many of ADT’s higher-end home automation offerings are customizable (although this will affect your final price). There’s a vacation mode that arms the system, keeps a steady temperature, and turns lights on and off to suggest that someone’s home. You can also set up situational operations. For example, if the sensor detects a fire, you can automate doors to unlock and the air conditioner to shut off, slowing the circulation of smoke.
I really liked knowing we had the added security. But when you have cats and radiators for heat, it is a fail waiting to happen. The cats get in the window for the sun and warmth, so it sets off the alarm. Then they like to lay on the radiators, which are under the windows, and it seems they touch the window and set off the alarm. Good security, lousy for pet owners.

At the end of the install, he goes to test the signal…it cuts in an out (it was cellular).  Two hours later at 8:00, he still can’t get a continuous signal.  He tells me he’ll have to come back tomorrow with an antenna to put in the CLOSET (please explain how this makes sense) to get better signal.  This means more holes in my walls and another tech in my house and another afternoon of mine wasted watching these guys use their tools. Fourth problem I had.

To make sure you’re getting the best-value system for your money get quotes from up to 5 companies first. Ask each of them to do a risk assessment on your property to see what areas of security need addressing and why. This on-site inspection should be free of charge. Never accept a company who says they don’t need to visit your property to do an inspection.

We are previously Brinks customer (we were very happy with their service) and ADT has acquired Brinks.  We added more sensors and signed another two year contract with ADT.  Now we’d like to get a quote to add camera system, so I called ADT and set us up for an appointment at 10am.  I cancelled all my appointments that Saturday to met with the representative at 10am.  It was 10:25am when i called ADT because he hasn’t showed up yet, and I called back again after 10 minutes to check the status and the customer rep put me on hold and contacted Daniel and even his Sales Manager. Unfortunately can’t get hold of the two.
Monitoring doesn’t cost much with Scout, but whether you choose to do it yourself or have professionals do it for you, you’ll still be charged. This actually isn’t exceptional when it comes to DIY home security, however. For instance, while SimpliSafe boasts a free self-monitoring option, it won’t send you any notifications without a paid professional plan.

We have had our current security system for about a year now. We have been extremely happy with it, our favorite feature being that we can access our system from ours phones. Our installation was quick and professional. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is lately the system has been failing to arm. When we called to ask the company, they said the chip needed to be replaced for $80. Overall we are happy though!
One day, I burned some food on the stove and set the fire alarm off.  The phone rang immediately.  I mean, I didn’t need any help or anything, but the speed of their response was impressive.  The one time I did need this alarm was when I got robbed.  Some kids apparently walked out of my house with my most valued posession in broad daylight on a weekday.  Unfortunately, like I said, I hadn’t been setting the panel anymore.  So I had to make an insurance claim.  I’ve had no problems with the product or the monitoring service.  The only thing I would warn people about is in making the habit of using it.  I’m now considering adding video cameras, which has brought me here so I wanted to leave my 2 cents behind.  Thanks.
ADT has the first thought name for security, but, worst to deal with. The sales tactics and the service performance is substandard. Pressuring to sign the contract…they will not let you review the it and its terms, only point to sign here. Pricing higher than anyone. The sales person kept calling me although I said not to. I suggest to never use them!!!

5/2017 aunt moves to retirement home. Canceled monitoring service. Still in auto bill system, I sent back stating it was canceled. 1/2018 she passes. Received continuation of bill. Sent back previous cancellation note along with death certificate. In April 2018 someone at ADT actually recognizes that she is dead. I receive invoice for 83.00, no big deal I just pay it. THEN I get invoice for 250.00 with no explanation for what it is for, I ignore. Another one, I write back, another one in Oct. 2018 and I call. They say that they sent me a box for the equipment and I have to return it. I never got a box and their records indicate that an empty box was returned to sender. The box would have been the only indication to me that I needed to return any equipment. So 18 months later I have to see if someone kept the equipment from a 95 year old who lived in a nursing home? This is not the first issue with ADT. Please don't use them, it's a headache.
