The Safewatch Pro 3000en control panels can act as your system's central nervous system, but if you're anything like me, you'll quickly wind up using the Pulse mobile app for that. Still, the control panel is a sophisticated piece of equipment. It supports a series of arm and disarm codes for Away, Stay, Night-Stay, and Disarmed, with additional modes available if you work with the ADT technician. It has direct Police and Fire buttons, meaning even if there isn't an alarm going off, pressing one of these buttons will connect you to an ADT call center and the operator will immediately dispatch the emergency service. There's a Chime mode that alerts people in the home if external doors are opened. You get one of these at the Control pricing tier and two at the Video pricing tier, but, again, you're not really limited by those numbers. You can add more if your home needs them.

One of the drawbacks of opting for GetSafe’s month-to-month contract is that you have to pay for equipment upfront. GetSafe’s one- and three-year contracts include the starter kit for free, and its three-year contract also includes a bonus hardware credit of $250. The starter kit costs $249 and, even though it’s less expensive than other providers’ equipment packages, it could be too pricey if you’re on a tight budget.
It's also important to note here that there's no direct connection between ADT Pulse and ADT Canopy. The Pulse service provides security and automation to your home that you can access and control via the web and your Pulse mobile app. Canopy is a personal and mobile service that integrates with other smart home devices or various Samsung wearables and basically gives you threat protection and access to ADT's emergency dispatch services on the go.
I tested ADT Pulse (starting at $28.99 per month plus components and installation), which combines the company's alarm and security service with home automation and monitored surveillance. ADT easily rivals its top competitors, including Vivint Smart Home, in functionality, though if you opt for the top of its service tiers as I did, you might want to prep yourself for sticker shock. Even so, ADT Pulse earns our Editors' Choice for home security systems.
I love all of the features with this new system. It’s great for pet owners. I do have to say that it is a little confusing how the packages are displayed online, versus what you can get from the company on the phone, or in person. I currently have the middle tier, but I’m maxed out on ‘points’ for more equipment. I can apparently buy the hardware at full price and install it for it to work, but I cannot get it for free like the rest of the equipment.This isn’t a huge drawback, since I did get free hardware and install, but it’s not stated clearly online. So far everything has been working great, and I’m excited to not worry about break-ins or fires. Wish the contract was not for 5 years. Seems a little excessive.

I have always wanted to keep my family and home safe, especially at night. I do not have a guard dog like some of my friends do and I do not find dogs effective. So I decided to do some research and found ADT to be the best choice. They came and thoroughly installed the sensors all throughout my house. They made sure to test the system to see if it was working properly. After that I am pleased with my security system. It is easy to use and we have never had a problem with it. Also, the staff are very friendly. If we have questions they always help us out. We have been safe in our home ever since (no more burglaries).

The morning of 3/15 i noticed my ADT app and camera were not working, later after I had gotten home from work I called ADT customer service. After spending 55 minutes troubleshooting with customer service they decided to send a tech out to fix. 3 minutes after i hung up the phone someone kicked in my front door. Yes they did call me and call the police but the camera was no working and I was unable to see what was going on through my phone. The camera would have gotten a video of the criminal. I called ADT and told them what happened they expedited someone to come out and fix the issue. The tech came on 3/16 and after about two hours was unable to fix the issue. I have it on recording where the tech admitted the hardware had failed. It has only been 15 months and the hardware failed. I had to take off today 3/20 for the tech to come back out and fix it, the tech was able to fix it but now my key fob does not work and they have to send a tech out again and i have to take another day off from work. I called the company multiple times and complained that their equipment failed me when i needed them and i wanted to cancel my contract, they told me i would have to pay all termination fees. I should not have to pay fees because they did not hold up their end of the contract i pay extra for the app and camera and it failed me. I do not want money or anything i just want out of my contract. I have to get a lawyer now and get the BBB involved.

We have had ADT since 2011 since buying a new home. In the last 5 years we have had a few incidents. The phone rang immediately when the alarm went off. They were very quick to handle the situation & their customer service has always been excellent. There is no comparison to other home security monitoring services. I feel much safer knowing I always have 24 hour protection in my home.
If you’re renting or leasing, it may make a difference in whether you want a wireless setup or not. Wireless systems don’t require drilling, which your property owner may appreciate. But if you do end up needing to drilling, here’s a fun fact: in most cases you need only verbal permission from your landlord, so you won’t have to come up with a written agreement or anything like that.

ADT is an international company with a number of different locations, making ADT a good choice if your family plans to move in the near future. Customers who have had a system for at least two years are eligible for a free security system when they move and given a discount off the total installation price. This is not great news for customers who need to move before the two year period.


Whether you decide to go with a DIY system or opt for a professionally installed system, you'll have to pay a monthly or annual fee if you require monitoring, and in some cases, you'll be hit with a monthly fee to pay off the cost of hardware components. With most DIY systems, such as the SimpliSafe Home Security Kit, the Ring Alarm Security Kit, and the Nest Secure, you purchase the hardware outright and can avoid any monthly fees if you decide to self-monitor. After spending 1.5 hours on the phone and speaking to SEVEN operators, I STILL wasn't able to cancel my service. (I want to bundle with Xfinity.) While I was on hold, I was contemplating whether to keep ADT service so that I wouldn't have to pay the $480 penalty fee to break my contract. But, after that experience, I'd happily pay that amount so that I won't ever have to deal with ADT or Safe Street ever again!

Then there’s the monitoring service – they offer $27.99/mo but that’s only if you have a land phone line in your home. Including the warranty on the equipment that is supposed to be $36.99, but again they claim it’s only if you have a land line. I know others who have the service without a land line paying $36.99 no problem, yet ADT claims they don’t do that. Total garbage and lies. So now the monthly monitoring fee is up to $48.99 for wireless. However if you speak with their customer service, they will bring that down to $44.99/month and offer $300 in gift cards to make up the difference between the $48.99 and the $36.99 as promised. It’s all such a set up.

The technician arrived to install the system and explained how the 2-way voice works. I think I will use the Pulse App feature alot more than this but it is a good feature to have. Don't count on getting a rate at the $36.99 mentioned price, most likely it will be around $45-50 unless you do the old land line system. Either way I got a good deal and a lot of free equipment so thanks for doing this research.

J comes in and starts looking around and does his ultimate security evaluation which would cover every window door and crack in my house against burglars.  $5,000 to cover all of that.  I said no and he went down the list to cover just the downstairs, then the back of the downstairs, then just the doors. This was the second issue of his high pressure sales tactics “I’m not trying to scare you, but…” That’s exactly what it felt like he was trying to do.

I’ve never had one issue with the service, and the two occasions I needed help, it was due to a bad battery that I was able to replace myself. The system works perfectly, and I am very happy with my new Pulse System. Especially the Pulse interior cameras. It’s not the cheapest system but when it comes to my home and family I don’t want the cheapest, I want the best!

Install was performed by subcontractor and done wrong. ADT charged me again to have someone else do it right, still isn’t correct. Cars were broken into which had two cameras on them and didn’t record any of it. The cameras only record 30 second increments with 2 minutes in between, I’m guessing criminals also know this. Contract end date keeps changing, further and further out. Avoid ADT at all cost. There’s much cheaper services out there that actually work.

I have been a loyal ADT customer for thirty years. I had decided to upgrade my security in November of 2017 by adding security cameras. I had it in my mind to buy the DVR system before my security sales associate came out to my home to evaluate my very specific needs. She came and I showed her my Verizon flaw that put us at risk with our system. Explained to her that the hard wire for the telephone could easily be cut and our old system would not be able to communicate with adt monitoring. We agreed to upgrade to a wireless system equipment to solve this problem. I paid for this to be done.I also told her we wanted to purchase a camera system and relayed all the reasons why and what specifically we needed. She made the recomendation to purchase from ADT the pulse camera system. We were told about the thirty second clips with two details left out. The detail about the camera going offline after EVERY thirty second clip for FOUR MINUTES, that at times is actually NINE MINUTES of no recording. The camera is asleep missing anything that happens. Any person on earth can google ADT REVIEWS and learn of this FLAW. YES that includes the burglars, murderers and rapists. It is not a secret. I did not look at the reviews until I noticed this flaw until I actually was missing an event. I trusted ADT. My sales associate told me that the camera would record each event as long as there was motion. She did not tell me about the sleepy time camera ever. So I’ll back up to the actual install day. So install day comes and the guy puts up the first camera and I notice that the housing of the base of the camera does not cover up the wire. It is completely exposed and can be cut by anyone. I told him this was unacceptable and he called the office and informed me that I needed the dome cameras instead. Now I have to say that I don’t understand why this sales person sold me these cameras in the first place. I took her outside and showed her the exposed verzion wire and told her how upset I was that anyone could cut this and my system would no longer communicate with adt monitoring. At this point, the tech made a new appointment for a tech to come out and switch out, to the dome cameras where the wire is protected under a housing and can not be easily cut if installed in the eve of a one story house. He finished up the install wiring and the install of my ring front door camera. He closed up the closet where he had been working and said goodbye and left. Next day we go out and set our alarm. We come back and our alarm code no longer was accepted. Alarm goes off. We could not get it to respond. When I opened up the closet to look at my alarm panel the door was unlocked and open with wires hanging loose all over the place. A computer device was attached to these wires and for the life of me I thought we had been robbed by the mission impossible crew. We called ADT and a lady had to walk me thru removing the battery from the alarm system to get it to stop the alarm. I’ll also mention that they did not receive a signal at all for this alarm event. So service day comes and the technician arrives and opens up the door to the system and could not believe what he was seeing. He asked why the previous tecnitiins test equipment was there still. He said he had changed our alarm code and had left our system in test mode. Great........ I fall safe already.... not! After he corrected all that mess and the replacement dome cameras were installed, One of the dome cameras was malfunctioning the very next day and we had to make another appointment to have that one replaced. Now they are working. The visibility is great. The night vision is great. BUT the thirty second clip is for the birds. That thirty second clip turns into a twenty five second clip when you notice that the camera actually backs up each clip a few seconds and shows you at first nothing and then includes the nothing in the thirty second clock. So basically if you have a slow murderer or robber you will only get a clip of them for twenty five seconds and then the recording will stop and you will actually get nothing of the crime. It’s POiNTLESS with a THREE YEAR CONTRACT and if you don’t figure it out before three days that you’ve been sold a piontless camera system that was intentionally designed and manufactured this way, you are up the creek without a paddle or in this case no video footage of the actual crime. Needless to say I’m very dissatisfied with my security sales consultant recommended system purchase. Based on the fact that she knew ahead of time what events were happening around my property and why I needed a camera system in the first place. This Pulse system has alot of bells and whistles but I did not opt for those for automating my house. I only wanted the cameras to capture crime events. Not partially and not on a time clock. I would also like to add that she also sold me a ring front door bell system. This system opened my eyes to the fact that technology exists that does not hobble you into a pointless purchase of a disfunctional system Ring captures every motion activated event without delay with clips. It stores them in the cloud for only thirty dollars a year. WITH SOUND It also has a free app for your phone, your computer, your iPad, your husbands phone. It notifies you every time someone rings your doorbell or moves I front of it with controllable zones. Way to go RING! You can answer that call on your device of choice and talk to that person while recording the video and conversation before and after you answer the ring. So I have to say, what’s the point in buying ADT’s cameras at all. Just install RING flood motion lights with cameras built in and doorbells front and back and be done with it. No contract. No SLeepy TIME missing events No lies by omission, or missing facts. No lack of customer satisfaction or attempts to make it right. Loyal customer no longer loyal!

They gave us a huge hassle for stopping service at a house we no longer lived in! Anything (equipment changes, moves, etc.) starts a new three year contract. In the amount of time I have had ADT services, I could have bought and paid for multiple, more cost effective services, not to mention the level of customer service. I am done!

Monitoring was fine, a few issues with some of the equipment and conflicting answers about how to fix it. But my biggest issue is cancelling services. It is a NIGHTMARE. I’ve called repeatedly, used their chat feature, faxed and emailed trying to cancel service. Yet somehow, they keep losing my request to cancel. They tell you it’s easy to cancel if you’re under military orders to move – just provide a copy of the orders they say. But the reality is that they’ll drag their feet and make you jump through hoops for weeks. Meanwhile, my house is selling, I can’t cancel service and I’m stuck paying for an alarm system on a house I will no longer own.

I just got rid of m ADT system. It was installed onOctober 1st and in the four months I had it, I had at least 14 service calls to fix broken or non-functioning equipment and more calls from them telling me that a window was open when it was not. The window in question has not been opened over 25 years. And every time they would call about my “open window”, it would make the alarm impossible to set because it required over-riding that window. I got a call from an ADT representative telling me they were receiving an alarm from my system. So the salesperson told him that he would wait to talk to me, the wife, and was told that he wouldn’t. Today I was talking to a friend and she was pretty much told the same thing about the phone line and breaking in and she told him that she has a dog and he replied that he could break in and kill the dog, REALLY? This kind of sales pitch is creepy when they say what if I, instead of what if someone. It just makes Vivint’s salespeople sound like stalkers.
Horrible customer service! I am moving and need to move my service too, but they will not allow me to move my service without having to renew my contract for another 3 years. I am not interested in renewing my contract as the customer service is terrible, but yet, they won’t let me move my service. They are requiring me to not sell my house just so they can get paid for another year. Outrageous! I will never ever use ADT ever again.
