After a week of receiving motion alerts in my home, I disabled and removed motion detector from my account. They will not stop their auto payment system and are overcharging us too. They will not stop their services until I respond to a email that came 1 week after my first call but I didn't see it before it expired. We are being charged more than contract price too. When I called again today, just like my first attempt, I was in hold for over 20 minutes. Again, I was told to expect an email and respond to it before they will cancel their auto pay. WHY SHOULDN'T THEY STOP THEIR SYSTEM? I told my wife that I guess we will have to close our bank account and move our money someplace else!
I am extremely disappointed with my most recent encounter with an ADT technician by the name of John C. for starters I greeted him kindly and he completely ignored me as if I was speaking to someone else in the room . Upon him asking me what issues I was having with my system, he kept cutting me off stating we were using the system incorrectly, and raising his voice at me to the point he was practically yelling at me answering me in a scornful manner. For someone whose job consists of interacting with other people and in this case required going into people’s homes where they are supposed to be helping a person, his behavior was very rude and unacceptable. The equipment, security system and ADT Pulse has been great. Just had a rough start with the tech but I suppose not all of them are going to be like that, he could've been having a bad day.
I work for a company that uses ADT in our office for security. We had trouble with a couple sensors for which an ADT tech came to fix. Whatever he did completely messed up the system. We were without an alarm system for over a week because they didn’t have any techs that could come till then. Why do they not treat this as a necessity much like someone that is on 24/7 to fix your furnace if it goes out in the winter. They didn’t care that the office was with out security for over a week. As far as I’m concerned a security company that doesn’t care if you don’t have security is useless. ADT is useless. I’m looking in to Frontpoint to replace ADT in our company. My warning to those seeking ADT for your home. If they don’t care about a business they aren’t going to care about your home.
ADT offers a lot beyond basic home security (like medical alert monitoring), but the company charges extra for safety essentials like smoke and carbon monoxide monitoring, which other security companies include. You also have to upgrade for an extended warranty if you select either of the Basic packages. We’d like to see ADT cut their customers a break and create some affordable package options that include smoke and CO2 alerts along with a good, solid warranty for all plans.
I have had ADT service for 5 years. This is after my cabin had a break in. The only problem I have had is the door sensor fell off and I was able to repair this myself. I can arm and disarm the equipment remotely by cellphone. When the alarm went off one time they were very responsive. Customer service advised me how to replace the battery in the key fob. My only complaint is I was given a discount for paying for multiple years in advance and this was not offered in future years. I requested additional yard signs and these were provided at no additional charge. I am satisfied with their service.

3. I understand the security reasoning about not wanting to disarm the system via routines, but you should be able to arm it via one. Case scenario I have an Inovelli scene enabled light switch by the back door. Right now, I have it programmed when we are leaving the house two presses of the switch off activates my goodbye routine which turns off all the lights, TVs, sets the thermostat to away and sets a timer for the door locks for 30 seconds. It would be nice to be able to arm the alarm to stay or away from this routine, instead of having to get the app out to arm it.

I called ADT and told them what happened they expedited someone to come out and fix the issue. The tech came on 3/16 and after about two hours was unable to fix the issue. I have it on recording where the tech admitted the hardware had failed. It has only been 15 months and the hardware failed. I had to take off today 3/20 for the tech to come back out and fix it, the tech was able to fix it but now my key fob does not work and they have to send a tech out again and i have to take another day off from work. I called the company multiple times and complained that their equipment failed me when i needed them and i wanted to cancel my contract, they told me i would have to pay all termination fees. I should not have to pay fees because they did not hold up their end of the contract i pay extra for the app and camera and it failed me. I do not want money or anything i just want out of my contract. I have to get a lawyer now and get the BBB involved.

I have been an ADT customer for my two businesses. Because the locations were far apart I had to make it two separate systems but I still got a good discount for having them both under my name. We have had an ADT monitored security system in our home for more than 5 years now. We live in a relatively safe area, but I like being able to know that the house is safe when I am home alone with our young son or when we are out of town for a long weekend. The system itself is easy to activate and de-activate and we love turning the chime feature on to know whenever any door in the house is open. Some of the cons of using ADT are that if there is an issue with the system (a bad battery back up or weird beeping – which happened to us after a lengthy power outage) there can be a delay in getting a service technician to the house.

We had the worst time when we moved. It's a really long story, but the cliff notes version is that they said it would be an easy transfer and offered approx $400 worth in services. The control box and the keypad device both came with nearly dead batteries. 2 separate occasions they started beeping in the middle of the night. I bought $2k+ of equipment after being told that the equipment was transferable to a new residence since I was installing it in a rental residence I did not own. It was explicitly explained that I was renting and would be moving within 3 years and was promised I could take all equipment with me to be installed in another home. When I moved I was informed that the equipment cannot be transferred but that a $500 moving credit is given, however the new home I was moving into had “a better system” and the $500 credit would cover the little bit of equipment I was missing to give me an “even better system” than I had in the previous home. New contract was signed based on this. No new equipment was installed – turns out the only existing equipment was a couple of door sensors and hard wired alarm pads, which were not used. There are no sensors on windows or 3 of the 5 doors. My last home had over ten window sensors and 5 door sensors as well as 2 alarm pads at entry doors. Now I have two doors protected and one alarm pad that can only be used in a room that is not a primary entry point and would require me to run across the house to disarm every time I enter my home. It is a 3 year contract that has to be paid in full so I am now paying for services for 3 years that cannot be used and were sold under completely false pretenses. The company refuses to deliver what was promised and continues to try to get me to buy more equipment to get what i already paid for. What’s more is that I had a 3 year contract in the previous home that they reassigned to another 3 year contract after having already fulfilled 2 years of the first contract – this is not what was explained to me, I was told the new contract was for the 1 year difference. I either have to cough up $800+ to cancel the contract or continue to pay for monitoring on equipment not installed.

Unlike ADT and Vivint, Frontpoint home security systems are do-it-yourself installation. This means the company will send you the equipment to install on your own. DIY installation is easy and Frontpoint has a personalized website that will walk you through the process. And customer service reps are available should something go wrong. Like other top home security providers, Frontpoint also offers home automation and professional monitoring. However, only one Frontpoint package comes with video surveillance. But if you’re interested in Frontpoint, you could use a third-party security camera in conjunction with your Frontpoint system.
5/2017 aunt moves to retirement home. Canceled monitoring service. Still in auto bill system, I sent back stating it was canceled. 1/2018 she passes. Received continuation of bill. Sent back previous cancellation note along with death certificate. In April 2018 someone at ADT actually recognizes that she is dead. I receive invoice for 83.00, no big deal I just pay it. THEN I get invoice for 250.00 with no explanation for what it is for, I ignore. Another one, I write back, another one in Oct. 2018 and I call. They say that they sent me a box for the equipment and I have to return it. I never got a box and their records indicate that an empty box was returned to sender. The box would have been the only indication to me that I needed to return any equipment. So 18 months later I have to see if someone kept the equipment from a 95 year old who lived in a nursing home? This is not the first issue with ADT. Please don't use them, it's a headache.

We are happy and relieved to know that a) it is not ADT, b) that we can set up satellite radio to do just that, but c) if we had known about this ability we would certainly not have chosen Beyonce!!!

As you start looking for a house alarm company, there are a number of things you need to look out for. Proceed with caution when you’re dealing with companies who install proprietary systems and claim that they only work with their licensed monitoring systems. You should also watch out for organizations who won’t let you alter your passcode or switch to another company even after your contract has finished. To be sure, opt for a company that gives you full access to your programming and code features and uses non-proprietary components.
Unless you plan on spending $1500 plus starting costs for a high end security system ADT is your best bet. Among all the companies that you can get for $100 in start up costs you might as well go with them. I got a lot of equipment and have a shop on the side of my house (I work from home) and it was easy to get that set up with them too. I got a secondary control panel for my side shop but honestly I just use my phone. My kids have downloaded the app so they can turn it on (green button) and off too so they don't have to know how to work the old panels anymore. So in total, if you're going for the standard set up (low starting costs) alarm system then yes go with these guys over the rest.
I am very upset with my ADT experience and contract. Your sales rep Daehan ** gave me inadequate information regarding your ADT service and contract. I was very upfront and concerned about switching from SafeNet to ADT because I was planning on moving the following year. He ASSURED me that the move of equipment, install and monitoring fees would not incur additional charges! He also did NOT disclose that there was a 36 month contract or an early termination fee. If I was properly informed of incurring additional charges for my move, I would NOT have switched security companies as my contract with SafeNet was complete. In order for me to set up a new security monitoring system at my new place of residence, I received an estimate for $461.
In February 2017, I had three cameras installed, in which one camera simply sat on my kitchen sink because the technician didn’t want to hassle with figuring out an electrical connection to set the camera up to view my swimming pool area. The front outside camera was supposed to have night vision, but it didn’t. The night vision function finally popped in surprisingly during the summer of 2018. The camera system is down almost as much as it works.
ADT was officially ready to protect your home using ADT Canopy. Canopy is a contract-free offer with the option of self-installing equipment. The first available integration included LG’s Smart Security camera, which was discontinued less than a year after launch. At the end of the day, I believe that ADT wants to provide a good product and customer service, however, communication system is disjointed, broken and ineffective. The most disappointing thing is the fact that three different parties in different parts of their organization have gone completely cold in response to my attempts to determine how to fix my problem. I can only assume that they are completely incapable of addressing situations that are outside of the norm, especially when the issue is something that they should have informed me about before the equipment was installed. This is not only a disgrace from a customer service perspective, but completely insulting to a consumer who has a choice when selecting a home security service.
Heads up -- if you use ADT monitoring services through your landline, if your landline is cut or goes down they are no longer able to monitor it. Use wireless / cell phone towers when you sign up!! I learned this the hardway, after a storm cut out our landline I thought I was still secure but I wasn't and lost a lot of belongings. I suppose it's time to upgrade from landlines anyways by now but I was still paying a cheaper monthly fee for it so I hadn't upgraded.
We recently had an ADT security system installed in our home and I have had few problems with this company and their rates are great!! My daughter has Vivint at her house and she pays around $30 more a month. I like that Vivint has security cameras and that you can look in your house and adjust temps in your house right on your phone, but I still love my system. What I do not like however is the practices used in my town to get customers to switch from ADT to Vivint.
When we purchased our system it was for peace of mind for our home. Never would we have thought that it would be what saves our daughter. Thanks to ADT when her ex-boyfriend came through the front door they alerted the police of the intruder alert and just almost a mins after police showed and he was found trying to kidnapp my daughter. The quick response of alerting the police is what makes me stay and will forever be a ADT customer. Forever grateful.
It's no question that ADT is one of the more popular alarm systems. I am now planning on purchasing a new home and doing my research on home security systems and ADT keeps on popping up. I'm attracted to the technology that they employ such as the Pulse app and placing an ADT sign in front of my new house will surely deter to-be robbers. There are a few things you should do when an ADT tech gets to your house so I am passing these tips onto everyone that reads this. First make sure you get all the signs and decals you want. Putting stickers on the back doors and windows where burglars typically come through could be a life saver. Also, make sure they walk you through how to run the Pulse app on your phone. It's really easy but I was confused on my account login information and they helped out there. Lastly, make sure to write down your verbal password (to verify false alarms) and let your whole family know. So far their security system has been what we needed!
When your kids grow up, you don’t stop worrying about them – OR your house. With remote access I can check to make sure the doors are locked, and even when she doesn’t pick up the phone, I can check on her, too! Because as any parent knows, your kids are far more valuable than your stuff, and peace of mind is at a premium when you’ve got teenagers!

The best value plan offered by Protect Your Home is called Basic Security. It costs $27.99/month, or around just $7/week. My bill was paid in full till the end of Sept. 2018. I called and canceled service on Sept 20, 2018 after sale of the house. Received a bill in Oct 2018 for $18.49. No detail on the bill only explanation after speaking to Scott is a charge incurred that happens because it takes a month to complete the cancellation process and that is wrote in the contract but I did not remember that being mentioned at the time service was started more than 3 yrs earlier. I was never late with a payment and there was never an alarm. So basically a person would be very wise to set up a DIY service and save a lot of money and getting taken advantage of.
ADT Pulse + Video, like the name implies, gives you everything Pulse does but with video surveillance access as well. Opting for cameras and a video plan can be expensive through ADT. Some companies like Canary or Others would steer you toward a separate video system, but we prefer having everything through a single company so we can easily access everything at home or on the go.
