I’ve called repeatedly, used their chat feature, faxed and emailed trying to cancel service. Yet somehow, they keep losing my request to cancel. They tell you it’s easy to cancel if you’re under military orders to move – just provide a copy of the orders they say. But the reality is that they’ll drag their feet and make you jump through hoops for weeks. Meanwhile, my house is selling, I can’t cancel service and I’m stuck paying for an alarm system on a house I will no longer own.
Hey Jean., We suggest always testing them after getting them setup. Playback previous days data and make sure you can pinpoint certain times. Not sure this was so much the ADT Camera's fault as it was not ensuring everything was hooked up and recording from the git go. You should do this with any security camera / home security system you get. There is also a testing phase you can request where for 3 days they won't call the police if the alarm is set so you can go through and test all of the aspects (motion, window sensors and more).

We had ADT at the house we used to live in. I loved having the safe and secure feeling knowing we were monitored and able to reach help if it was needed. We had a chime on the doors so if they opened we knew someone was coming in. We had all the windows and doors covered too. We rarely had a false alarm, in the approx. 10 years we had them maybe this happened twice. The false alarms were due to battery problems and ADT quickly sent a person to repair. One of my favorite features was the secret alarm code you could enter when you got home that really meant send help. Being a mom at the time of younger children it helped me feel less vulnerable. Any time I was in contact with ADT I always had a pleasant experience and never had a problem dealing with their people. I also felt a sense of peace knowing when we all went to bed we had the alarm set and felt secure and safe.
I am a home automation enthusiast and a DIY guy. When I started out with home automation, I was using the open source OpenHAB for my hub. Horrendous! I would give ZERO stars if I could. ADT failed to do the one thing they were supposed to do!!! ADT sold me on safety and piece of mind yet ADT failed to properly setup the automation and alert settings on my ADT pulse. Today we were burglarized and because of ADT's egregious FAILURE, our cameras did not record the incident and we could not show any footage to the police officer. The burglar just walked away completely off the hook, even with us having 3 cameras plus a RING doorbell/cam. ADT YOU FAILED TO PROTECT OUR HOME!!!!
I had the standard alarm system for my house. There were several reported criminal activities in my neighborhood with loss of property and sense of safety. I called ADT to upgrade my system for many reasons including I was going away with my family and it was time to protect my property.They came out and installed sensors and a camera so I could take a quick look around the house from anywhere on my laptop.I can leave home without fear that the alarm will alert the police and I can take a picture of any unwanted intruder in the house.
I canceled my account with ADT back in June, and it is now November and they are still sending me voicemails, invoices, and threatening to send me to the debt collection agency!! Every two weeks, I call ADT so that THEY can FINALLY cancel my account, and EVERY SINGLE time they apologize and assure me that the account has been closed and that I will no longer receive emails, invoices, and threats. BUT not even 48 hours later, I will still be receiving calls, voicemails, emails, and threats.
The agent lied to me when I specifically asked upfront about termination policies. She said I could cancel the policy anytime and didn’t reveal termination fee. They can lie anything to rip a big chunk of money off you. Each time you call customer service or loyalty department, you get different answers and they never get back to you when you leave a message. I have had many services as I frequently move to different states, this is the worst available out there.
Worst experience ever. Unreliable and irresponsible service. Even for urgent matters you have to wait on line for at least 30 minutes. And because ADT Canada was not able to pick up my phone call within a few minutes as stated clearly to me the police was dispatched. When you tried to explain no one at ADT cares to take any responsibility. I have been with ADT for almost 10 years and they will not consider your loyalty if something goes wrong. I decided to leave this company. Even your alarm goes off now you will be asked to press 1 then 2 then ……. and wait forever. Think twice if you want professional and timely service.
I have been using ADT for 8 years and there is no doubt in their service. Originally I wanted to go with another company just for the namesake of not being with ADT but after talking with neighbors and family I heard enough bad stories about random companies I went ahead with this one. And of course is established in 1874 so it the best service in this field.
I talked with a representative about a home security system. As we talked she asked me questions regarding number of windows/doors etc. She told me we would get window/doors sensors (never actually told me how many my mistake for not asking), also told me it wasn't a problem to include an extra key fob and the really great news was we were going to have all this "free" money to purchase anything else we wanted off the service truck. Salesman and installer arrive and we find out that extra key fob was coming out of our "free" money the representative never ever mentioned this fact.

My father, age 75, contacted ADT to switch to their service based on an advertised offer. He explained to the customer service representative he had Vonage for his phone service. The customer service rep. said she was not sure if the system could be installed without a landline. She scheduled the appointment and told my father to ask the technician. I seems odd that the customer service representative could not speak to my father’s situation, since it is not uncommon. As directed,my father asked the technician about installing the service with Vonage. He further explained the package he was expecting to be installed. The technician stated “I got you”. The technician then proceeded to install a thousand dollar system. When my father would not agree to the monthly payment, the technician got his supervisor on the phone to apply more pressure. When my father would not agree to pay the monthly fees associated with the system installed, the supervisor directed the technician to take the system out. The technician removed the ADT equipment but refused to reconnect my father’s existing equipment. Now my father has to pay for a service call and reinstallation of his previous service. My father is on a fixed income and does not have money to spare. I am thankful the he has his wits about him and did not yield to undue sales pressure. Shame on you ADT!!!!
