With your equipment in place, ADT monitors via six different UL listed monitoring centers. All of the centers are manned by professional operators who can notify you and the local authorities in the event of an emergency. Monitoring is offered via broadband, cellular, or a landline connection. Without a doubt, cellular monitoring is the safest option as it doesn’t rely on cables or wires; however, the option comes with a higher price.
The only major downside to Pulse is price and its three-year service contract. When compared with other players, like Vivint or Frontpoint, the pricing structure is similar in that there's an upfront installation cost you can pay all at once or spread across the first three months, and then a monthly cost for maintenance and monitoring. If you compare only prices published on the web, then ADT Pulse looks very competitive. But in practice, if you opt for the higher end of the tiering scale and a modified system with a bunch of devices that aren't included in a basic tier package (and ADT will steer you that way), your price will quickly balloon. In my case, I wound up with an excellent all-around solution, but an eyebrow-arching upfront cost of $3,276.79 and a monthly charge of $63.89, which makes Pulse the most expensive solution we've tested to date.
I ended up purchasing the new equipment and service because I was told that I would be charged an early termination fee of $971.69. Well, 3 weeks later I got a charge on my credit card for this early termination fee AND a charge for the new equipment and 3 year contract service. This is the most scandalous security company I’ve ever come across. It is very concerning since they are suppose to monitor security of your home and your personal possessions.
Unless you plan on spending $1500 plus starting costs for a high end security system ADT is your best bet. Among all the companies that you can get for $100 in start up costs you might as well go with them. I got a lot of equipment and have a shop on the side of my house (I work from home) and it was easy to get that set up with them too. I got a secondary control panel for my side shop but honestly I just use my phone. My kids have downloaded the app so they can turn it on (green button) and off too so they don't have to know how to work the old panels anymore. So in total, if you're going for the standard set up (low starting costs) alarm system then yes go with these guys over the rest.
I installed all of the included hardware and monitoring devices, which includes two window or door detectors and a motion detector. After a week of receiving motion alerts in my home, I disabled and removed motion detector from my account. I have a couple of security cameras in my house, both of which also alert me on my phone to any motion, so I wasn't afraid of missing anything related to movement.
I've been pleased with their customer support for the 2 years I have had an ADT alarm system installed into my home. What I like is from the research I have done separate of this review, ADT has not raised their monthly price in years. I guess because it effects so many people nationwide if they do, it tends to be a stable price. Much better than going with a company who runs promotions and 6 months later you are paying double for what you initially agreed upon.
Netgear Arlo Pro 2: The video resolution and frame goes for 1080p. Field of views goes up to 130 degrees. Night vision is included and the camera uses cloud storage. The pros are excellent-quality 1080p video, weatherproof, rechargeable batteries, supports IFTTT and Alexa voice commands, pre-buffered video recording, continuous recording capabilities, and free and subscription-based cloud storage. The cons are expensive, requires hub (included), and many features are only available when plugged in.
I am not sure when ADT took a wicked turn, but this company plays slick games. Over the phone, I was quoted $27.99 for a monitoring fee. The phone rep told me that I wouldn't be charged until the tech came to my home and provided me with an assessment/consultation. So I provided her with my credit card number. After I hung up the phone with her, I received an alert of a charge for $105. She lied = Slick. They charge you this fee even before they come to your home. A few days later the tech arrived at the house and said that a $27.99 monitoring fee was not possible and he quoted me a monitoring fee of $52, plus tax. While I did not agree with this rate, I figured I would test the service out for a few days. But before I could totally make up my mind, the tech's assessment turned into him immediately installing the ADT keypad without asking. I literally left the room for a few seconds and he had already removed my old keypad system.
It was the most recent technical problem that convinced me that using ADT was a big mistake. When we installed our system, we added a new feature to automate the garage doors (this was brand new and NOT using any of the old equipment left by the prior homeowners). After about 3 months, one of the garage doors went “offline” and couldn’t be reset. The technician that was sent out replaced the associated equipment, and iit started working again. A few weeks later, the second garage door went offline and couldn’t be reset. This time, the technician that was sent out informed me that my garage door opener brand is incompatible with ADT equipment and will continue to short circuit and burn out as a result. There was no recommended fix for this problem, and that ADT only learned of this issue about a year ago. However, this equipment had been installed only a 3 or 4 months prior, so I do not understand why ADT would have allowed this installation if they knew about this issue. Nobody has been able to explain why they moved forward with the installation, so my conclusion is that it resulted from ADT’s inability to communicate with their sales force and technicians (keep in mind that the technician that came out to service garage door #1 wasn’t aware of this situation, while the technician that serviced garage door #2 DID know).
He is slow and dumpy and from the beginning he acted like he did not want to be there. The job was really quite simple, simply install 2 cameras. I wanted to discuss the plans for installation but as we discussed the job, Mr. Lee got really impatient and rude. Soon he SNAPPED and Mr Lee WALKED OFF THE JOB!!! on the way out the door Mr Lee told me to "SHUT UP!" Really! I could not believe it. Mr. Lee wasted another hour on the phone in his truck and then drove all the way back to the East Bay.

That's a very valid argument in ADT's favor. Moving on to different states or cities is sometimes inevitable for many, which means if your security company doesn't have a nation-wide reach, then there can be some really unnecessary hassles involved with your moving. A lot of bad blood can be avoided by going with old guys like ADT, which covers the entire nation in its length and breadth. Good points!
I was told by moving we did not extend our contract. After moving a 2nd time I learned it was renewed without my notice. I signed a waiver of installation but it was changed to a contract magically. We pay for security when in fact we are paying the thieves. Absolutely no integrity about ADT whatsoever. No punishment for the representative who lied either. Probably promoted for a good steal
I have a question... Wouldn't it be cheaper and more affordable to just get my own security cams online and run those instead of adding these to my ADT contract? My husband brought this up because his brother in law has security cameras around the house and they run off the wifi and there is no monthly bill for them. I think it is like $10 a month for the app, that is it.

I work for a company that uses ADT in our office for security. We had trouble with a couple sensors for which an ADT tech came to fix. Whatever he did completely messed up the system. We were without an alarm system for over a week because they didn’t have any techs that could come till then. Why do they not treat this as a necessity much like someone that is on 24/7 to fix your furnace if it goes out in the winter. They didn’t care that the office was with out security for over a week. As far as I’m concerned a security company that doesn’t care if you don’t have security is useless. ADT is useless. I’m looking in to Frontpoint to replace ADT in our company. My warning to those seeking ADT for your home. If they don’t care about a business they aren’t going to care about your home.

Vector pushed the leased systems and didn’t want to do window contacts (just glass break and motion sensors). ADT would sell me the system (I would own it) and would do door contacts, window contacts, glass break and a motion sensor. Since I knew the ADT name and liked the fact that they would do the window contacts, I chose to go with ADT. (Same prices from both companies.)
