ADT maintains six monitoring centers in different regions of the country. With multiple co-locations and system redundancies, ensuring uninterrupted monitoring in the event of any individual facility outages. ADT offers a wide selection of security equipment and devices. ADT Pulse provides additional equipment and services to support advanced security functions as well as home automation. The control panel uses the Z-Wave platform for wireless communication with sensors and smart devices. ADT Pulse is also compatible with IFTTT (If This Then That) and integrates with Nest Learning Thermostat. The company also offers a Smart Voice Sounder that calls out “fire” or “intruder” based on what sensor has sounded the alarm, and temperature and flood sensors that can protect against water damage from burst pipes. We have had ADT for 3 years & have never had any problems. We have recommended it to friends & they have had it installed & have had no problems either. Last year a Vivint salesman came to our door & my husband invited him in. I was not home so my husband spoke with him. The Vivint salesman put his feet on our coffee table while trying to talk my husband into cancelling our contract with ADT. Very unprofessional! We definitely will stay with ADT.
Even if we didn't get a military discount (I'm in services) I still would have gone for ADT. Almost all of my fellow comrades are using ADT in their houses and they don't have any complaints yet. Though obviously military discount is always sweet. It goes on to show how caring and patriotic a company is towards their nation. No home security company I know of does that I think.
They will not stop their auto payment system and are overcharging us too. They will not stop their services until I respond to a email that came 1 week after my first call but I didn't see it before it expired. We are being charged more than contract price too. When I called again today, just like my first attempt, I was in hold for over 20 minutes. Again, I was told to expect an email and respond to it before they will cancel their auto pay. WHY SHOULDN'T THEY STOP THEIR SYSTEM? I told my wife that I guess we will have to close our bank account and move our money someplace else!
The ADT Pulse system was just what I was looking for. The control and app is very fluid (meaning smooth). Camera quality is much higher than any security cameras (such as Swann or Nest) that my friends have, and then you can have one company across all your home automation platforms. Best to do it this way then having to login separate apps for your home security & cameras. Installation was quick and the tech explained everything, better than a DIY option which is becoming the trend.
Pulse also works with Amazon Alexa (Echo, Dot, Plus, etc.) and Google Assistant devices (Home, Max, Mini, etc.). Expanding on voice control, both assistants let you command your Pulse system using your voice. You can arm and disarm your system as well as control your connected smart devices. As disarming a security system with your voice can possibly be a security risk, ADT has safe-proofed this feature by requiring a verbal four-digit pin.
They show up the next day, and I ask a perfectly valid question about after my contract ends, and I stop being monitored by ADT, can I add additional sensors? The answer? Sure! At $150 a piece plus the install cost for what was monitored equipment, but no longer will be. I argued with them for a minute and they got defensive and condescending. Fifth problem I dropped it, but they continued to beat a dead horse. Finally, I asked them to leave and take their equipment with them. They looked at me like I was crazy. Maybe so, but I had had enough of them taking 6-7 hours to install a few plastic pieces around my house and answering personal phone calls and trying to get my dog to like them. The last two are sort of petty, I know, but they were the icing on the cake for me.
Check to see how long you’re signing the contract for – these tend to be three- or five-year periods. Also take some time to understand whether there are any penalties if you want to leave the contract sooner and if the fees can rise during the contract time frame. Be sure to check what equipment you’re allowed to keep once the contract has expired.
The worst service! I just moved in to my home not even 2 months and my home was broken into, I was told one thing when I purchased services and when Safe Haven their contract dealers came, it was something totally different. The burglar came through the windows cause no motion sensor where there, and the screen was broken to the main box! When the tech came out he told me I was not covered and I had to pay 400 dollars up front or buy 1100 dollars worth of equipment in order to protect my home that I pay them every month to monitor. Buyers please be aware! YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED BY THIS OVER PRICED SCAM COMPANY!!! DO NOT PURCHASE YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING YOUR OWN SECURITY SYSTEM
So since the guy was already there i was friendly and greeted him but explained i had canceled and was no longer looking for security at the moment due to some issues. He stated he couldn't leave until his boss gave him permission. His boss(ADAM) was very rude and told him to just leave the security system on my counter and to leave and that i wasn't receiving a refund (YET I DIDN'T EVEN RECEIVE INSTALLATION NOR DID HE EVEN TAKE OUT THE SYSTEM OUT OF HIS CAR) When i told him(Adam) My husband was on deployment and wasn't moving in until January ADAM kept pushing it on me after telling him NO several times. He states he already had a cancellation and couldn't receive another cancellation for the day. THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM. They instillation person was very nice but stayed at my house (inside) for 2 hours. I Had to speak to 4 different people just to cancel and have the tech person to leave. It was the worst experience of customer service i have EVER experienced. ADT does not care about you only their money. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!!! SCAM
As you can see, the control panel isn't as pretty as Vivint's, but Vivint expects you to do more with its panel than ADT does. The Safewatch has a monochrome touch screen and a somewhat arcane menu structure. You can select zones to be disarmed while leaving other zones armed (though I didn't enable this in my house). Key system functions are performed with a four-digit security code in addition to a menu command so the system isn't vulnerable to just anyone standing in front of it. The panel has a lot of other functionality, including the ability to adjust your lighting and appliances from its menu and even check weather, traffic, or news. But in the end you'll likely use it mainly for getting in and out of your house. The menu system is rich, but the ADT master web portal and the Pulse mobile app are far easier tools to use for working with your system. You won't even need to punch in your alarm code if you opt for one of the Safewatch's bundled fobs.

Really disappointed in these cameras. We had outdoor cameras installed and a few weeks later that they record 30 second clips, but after each 30 sec clip the camera is UNABLE TO RECORD for 4 minutes?? So, a bad guy pulls into my property. There's a 30 sec recording of them and then at a critical time there's no recording for 4 minutes? Why is this and how does this make sense??

We have been ADT customers, since ADT took over Broadview/Brinks. Today March 27th 2014, we had our 15y old system upgraded. Our field technician and ADT employee named xxxxxxx gave us outstanding service today. He was professional and knowledgeable, patient with my questions. His answers were complete and at a level that I could understand. We have not always been as fortunate to have such a high level of service, with the company we had before ADT. It is a refreshing experience to encounter someone who is interested in good customer service and makes certain the job is completed correctly before he leaves. You need to “clone” this individual! He is an exceptional example of the type of employee that gives superior ROI to the company he works for.
Just like smart plugs and keyless deadbolts may not be for everyone, neither is self-monitoring. If you opt to DIY your system’s monitoring, it’s up to you to take action on reported activity. If you can handle fielding alerts (for both false alarms and real break-ins), just be sure that you keep your phone’s volume on and the battery charged. But if you suspect you may want the undivided attention of professional monitoring in the future, go with a company whose professional monitoring practices and prices align with your needs.
ADT is not an honest company. Worse company ever. Very bad customer service , useless and they toss you around from one vendor to the other!End result nothing we can do , just pay your bill and shut the hell up.I would never recommend this company to anyone and I will make sure my comments are showing on every social media .Bottom line, they don’t tell you that you are locked in a 3 year contract ,and if you relocate , they will renew your contract for a new 3 years term!What a rip -off.
The signal range depends on a few factors, including your home’s building materials, other wireless devices in the area, and any walls or objects through which the signal has to pass. Standard drywall and glass windows may not impact the strength of the camera’s wireless signal, but brick and concrete will. If there are brick walls, concrete floors, and large trees in between the camera and receiver, your signal strength will likely weaken.
SimpliSafe’s new equipment also pairs with select smart home devices like the Nest Thermostat and August Locks. After many hours spent trying to contact the right people within ADT to solve this problem, one of the customer service supervisors provided me with a statement credit and indicated that the manager at the local ADT office advised me to purchase a particular type of garage door opener (at my own expense), which should then work with ADT equipment. When I attempted to directly contact this local office manager in order to determine the exact equipment model to purchase, I left three voicemails, none of which were returned. I exchanged an email with someone at ADT (corporate, presumably) about the frustrating situation, but when I inquired about HOW to get the local office manager to call me back, she also stopped responding (I tried sending the email twice). When I tried calling the customer service supervisor who originally gave me a statement credit and advised me about the local office manager’s recommendation, that call also went unreturned.
ADT monitoring has yet to let me down even with my little kids around the home. I only got a basic security system so I can't really compare or say it's better than "X" company but definitely works for a mother of 4 who wants some added peace to her life! My husband is gone a lot and he likes being able to check what's going on in and outside of the home thru the Pulse monitoring app. This is how I got him to buy the system for us in the first place ;).

The company is starting to design more and more of its own equipment, so it doesn’t rely as much on third-party vendors as Frontpoint or ADT do. The Vivint Doorbell Camera is one of our favorite pieces of security equipment to date.
Terrible sales, installation, and service, especially for someone providing such critical installation and monitoring. They're great at acting nice, then following up with nothing or (at best) a bait-and-switch with extra charges, going back on their word, and requiring that you pay more money to get what was sold on the front end. I read the promotion fine print, read the contract, discussed with the technician and branch manager to clarify all the pieces. Then got passed through no less than two disjointed and loosely affiliated call centers which continued to require additional forms, contracts, and payments in order to get the original payment terms and rebates that drove the initial sale. You should pay more for service from a different company, because ADT will end up costing you more before the dust settles.

I upgraded from ADT basic after 8 years to ADT Pulse and it feels like a whole new company and equipment. I went from having to enter my keycode into the panel to now being able to use the Pulse app from our phones and tablets and having live access through the cameras anytime. It cost about $15 more a month than what I was paying but we got rid of the land line and are loving it. Get what you think you might want ahead of time so you don't have to pay to upgrade later. They have good deals and promo's as well.
I canceled my account with ADT back in June, and it is now November and they are still sending me voicemails, invoices, and threatening to send me to the debt collection agency!! Every two weeks, I call ADT so that THEY can FINALLY cancel my account, and EVERY SINGLE time they apologize and assure me that the account has been closed and that I will no longer receive emails, invoices, and threats. BUT not even 48 hours later, I will still be receiving calls, voicemails, emails, and threats.

We had ADT at the house we used to live in. I loved having the safe and secure feeling knowing we were monitored and able to reach help if it was needed. We had a chime on the doors so if they opened we knew someone was coming in. We had all the windows and doors covered too. We rarely had a false alarm, in the approx. 10 years we had them maybe this happened twice. The false alarms were due to battery problems and ADT quickly sent a person to repair. One of my favorite features was the secret alarm code you could enter when you got home that really meant send help. Being a mom at the time of younger children it helped me feel less vulnerable. Any time I was in contact with ADT I always had a pleasant experience and never had a problem dealing with their people. I also felt a sense of peace knowing when we all went to bed we had the alarm set and felt secure and safe.

There is a reason why this company has a 1 star rating...avoid them like the plague. They are a high pressure sales company who abuse the elders. My mother sign a contract with them in 2011. ADT wants the elder to believe they still have a "verbal" contract and they keep billing them despite the system not working for two years. They wanted to charge her another $400 to "repair" their system and they also unilaterally increased the price of the service. When we tried to cancel, they apply high pressure tactics to try to retain claiming there was a "verbal" contract...there was not...and they had a host of high pressure questions...this is a dirty company and stay away!
My family had ADT quite a few years back. I remember setting off the alarm on more than one occasion. First came a phone call asking for the password. As long as you could provide the password, ADT figured you belonged there. But don’t answer the phone or not remember the password, and the cops would be there in minutes. I’m not sure if someone was trying to kill me, the cops would get there fast enough, but they would probably catch a burglar. I would love to have them now, but the service is just too expensive for us.

The cons are expensive, requires hub (included), and many features are only available when plugged in.

They will bait you on by saying “a manager is on and will work with you to approve this” – don’t believe it, as you’ll never hear from that manager ever again, even when you have his/her manager id number.
The crew was knowledgeable, professional, and made sure that I understood what was being installed and how to use it. By the time they left, I had everything up and running, had been personally tutored in its use, and had set up basic accounts and access credentials for the main system, the web portal, the remote monitoring software, and the third-party equipment ADT installed for me.
