Also, don't expect ADT to listen to your complaint.  You won't get past helpdesk support. They suggest you write a letter if you want to speak to anyone higher that helpdesk.  A LETTER!, what century does this company live in. They must all drive to work using a Horse and Buggy. We have had an ADT monitored system for a few years now and I have no complaints whatsoever. We have intrusion monitoring as well as 24-hour fire monitoring. It gives us peace of mind when we are not home knowing that ADT is watching over our home. In addition, I would definitely suggest getting a second keypad for the bedroom, to prevent false alarms (think about waking and stumbling downstairs before your morning coffee).
I do not understand how ADT has such a high rating on this website when a simple Google search shows terrible ratings across the board. This is why I chose to write my review on this website. An ADT rep came to my house when I purchased it, and promised me personal service, and we talked about all the places that would be wired, and old equipment that would be replaced. We also agreed that the price would be comparable to what I was paying in my old home. Fast forward, I move from my old home, ADT makes me close out the old contract, start a new contract at a higher price. The tech shows up, the sales rep is nowhere to be found and doesn’t answer his phone, THEY DON’T WIRE ANYTHING ON THE SECOND FLOOR STATING IT WILL COST EXTRA FOR EVERY ADDITIONAL WINDOW. Within 48 hours of them leaving, an alarm they installed on one of the exterior doors malfunctions and they don’t fix it for 5 more days. All this for the BASIC coverage at $44/month. I can’t say anything about any of the other services, but the second my contract is done I will be moving to another provider as ADT is a terrible crooked company.

It is for companies like these when you can't resist yourself saying, "Old is gold." After trying umpteen number of security companies in the past, I can without any doubt say that ADT is the boss in the business of home security. Solid equipment, nationwide-reach and efficient customer service being some of the many reasons why I say so. Nice review! I got to know a lot about them through this site.
I signed a 3 year contract with ADT and while the did provide security services it was at a high cost. Apparently the original quoted price was a promotional price because every few months my bill went up and up and up. By the end of three years I was paying almost double the original price. There was nothing I could do because it was extremely expensive to break the contract. I have learned my lesson and wont do that again.

Then he tells me I get two free sensors with my package and must purchase each additional sensor.  Ordinarily, I would understand this, but when I spoke with the sales rep, he promised 7 sensors with my package at no additional cost.  There’s my third issue.  The sensors are $150 each but you can buy them online for only $30 to $50 and are exactly the same but you have to “learn” them into your panel, which the installers will not do (understandable, sure).
I have experienced ADT security at several different places I have lived. The customer service reps are very professional and helpful. We experienced one bad experience where the alarm was going off for some technical reason but we received the phone call and the alarm sent the police to our house. It was a big mess but the only time that ever happened and considering the rest of the time our customer service was exceptional so we kind of over looked the one bad experience.

I went with ADT because they were a trusted name in the industry with businesses such as banks and other companies that need reliable monitored service. That was the most important thing to me and they have never let me down. I have been with them for over 15 years and the equipment has operated well. If I wanted to have them add additional services over the years, I know that there is an installation cost but it is well below that of a general contractor. And I am sure existing customers can self install if they know how. I have worked with customer service to do alarms tests and inquire about other things and have never had a problem. I have read many of the complaints on this site and many are a result of the home owner not doing their research or expecting free services. These companies have contracts to recoup the equipment costs. They need to pay an employee to do a truck roll for installations…every time. They are not a charity service. And I should note that in over 15 years my monthly fee has only gone up once. Not bad compared to some of the others. So again, I would rather use a company that the banking industry relies on because the most important thing to me is reliability in the event of a crisis. ADT has always been there 24/7.
Back doors are another common target. After all, the less attention an intruder draws, the better. My father’s house is wired with ADT security and one time a thief broke into his house while he was away. ADT sent a alarm message to him and he confirmed that a trespasser must have been in his home. The police were called but the thief left before they could catch them. Regardless it scared the thief away and he ended up not stealing any valuable electronics or keepsakes. ADT has always had friendly customer service and the installation was quick and easy. My dad has been very satisfied and because of his good experience I plan on installing ADT in my new home. Although it costs money to install I believe the money is well worth the investment to protect your valuables and make your home safer. I would recommend ADT for any home. You never think theft will happen to you but when it does you want some security system in your home; trust me.

I bought $2k+ of equipment after being told that the equipment was transferable to a new residence since I was installing it in a rental residence I did not own. It was explicitly explained that I was renting and would be moving within 3 years and was promised I could take all equipment with me to be installed in another home. When I moved I was informed that the equipment cannot be transferred but that a $500 moving credit is given, however the new home I was moving into had “a better system” and the $500 credit would cover the little bit of equipment I was missing to give me an “even better system” than I had in the previous home. New contract was signed based on this. No new equipment was installed – turns out the only existing equipment was a couple of door sensors and hard wired alarm pads, which were not used. There are no sensors on windows or 3 of the 5 doors. My last home had over ten window sensors and 5 door sensors as well as 2 alarm pads at entry doors. Now I have two doors protected and one alarm pad that can only be used in a room that is not a primary entry point and would require me to run across the house to disarm every time I enter my home. It is a 3 year contract that has to be paid in full so I am now paying for services for 3 years that cannot be used and were sold under completely false pretenses. The company refuses to deliver what was promised and continues to try to get me to buy more equipment to get what i already paid for. What’s more is that I had a 3 year contract in the previous home that they reassigned to another 3 year contract after having already fulfilled 2 years of the first contract – this is not what was explained to me, I was told the new contract was for the 1 year difference. I either have to cough up $800+ to cancel the contract or continue to pay for monitoring on equipment not installed.

I too heard a lot about my friends and neighbors about ADT, but chose to ignore them and tried other small time companies just to save few bucks. In my quest to save few bucks here and there, I actually lost much more money and time which I could have saved by just going with the top guys in the industry. Life has been much smoother and relaxed after making a switch to ADT.
Overall, it works great. I tested the camera via the web app, on my Samsung Galaxy S7 running the Android Pulse mobile app, and on my Apple iPad Pro running the iOS Pulse app. Video resolution was excellent across all three views, though it's especially striking on the iPad due to its excellent screen. My only ding is what does and doesn't set off the camera can be a little erratic at times, with cars passing by on the street triggering it, but the garbage man walking down the driveway sometimes not doing the trick. That's only a few feet, however, and anyone traveling all the way down the driveway or walking from the street to the front door has, so far, always been recorded.

My home was broken into and burglarized some years ago . I decided that I had enough and got a security system from ADT. It was the best decision I’ve ever made . I got great service for a good price . I finally could leave my house knowing it would be okay . I rent now out in the country and have no problems .I plan to buy a home soon and I will definitely use ADT again! Home security is all about having peace of mind . In this day and age it’s a must !

His name was Darwin (sp?) Lee. He came out to install video cameras at my art gallery in Guerneville. What an lazy, incompetent ass hole! Mr Lee drove all the way from the East Bay to Guerneville. He was supposed to call 30 minutes ahead of arrival but he didn't. When I asked Mr Lee why he did not call me ahead of arrival, Mr. Lee said he "did not know he was supposed to" LIE!
