I had someone enter my home when I was at work. ADT called me right away but the cops didn't show up in time. I called back to see what ADT recorded as to how quickly they called (to see if it was their fault or police) and they said they called dispatch after neither myself or my wife answered our phones. So regardless of how quick or slow ADT may be, it still is up to your local authorities to trust their word and come check out your house. A few things got shuffled around with but nothing of real value got stolen. Not fun knowing someone has been snooping around in our home and now I am adding some Pulse cameras to the system for better surveillance.

For example, you can create rules to have the lights turn on when motion is detected, have your doors unlock when a smoke alarm goes off, and have a camera begin recording when a sensor is triggered. Some systems store recorded video locally on an SD card or a solid state drive, while others offer cloud storage. Locally stored video is a good choice for do-it-yourselfers on a budget, but you have to be careful not to overwrite video that you may need later. Cloud storage makes it easy to store and access recorded video, but it can cost hundreds of dollars per year depending on your subscription. Some systems offer both cloud storage and local storage, and some provide a dedicated storage drive that gives you DVR capabilities with time-lapse recording, which makes it easy to find a video event that took place at a specific point in time.

In my initial consultation, the representative recommended only alarm hardware, but that was because I was still stunned by what I'd paid for the house, so I was trying to save money by avoiding home automation equipment. My second consultation was to review the Pulse system, which meant home automation was part of the assignment. Frankly, knowing what I know now, I would have opted for the home automation equipment even if I was just a regular customer. Yes, there's a price difference as you'll see in the next section, but for my money it's worth it.
The agent lied to me when I specifically asked upfront about termination policies. She said I could cancel the policy anytime and didn’t reveal termination fee. They can lie anything to rip a big chunk of money off you. Each time you call customer service or loyalty department, you get different answers and they never get back to you when you leave a message. I have had many services as I frequently move to different states, this is the worst available out there.

We have been with ADT for over a year and so far we are satisfied with the service provided. We did have a problem with incessant beeping only to realise that the battery was running low. A technician rectified the problem within two days. He was very courteous and removed his shoes without being asked to do so. I did, however, have to take time off work to accommodate ADT’s service hours.
The SimpliSafe system requires a professional monitoring subscription to receive alerts. That’s because it relies on a cellular connection rather than internet, so someone needs to send you an SMS text. There’s no option to receive automatic in-app alerts. You’ll have to upgrade to the $25-per-month plan to save yourself the task of keeping a constant eye on the video feed. (That’s still $10 less than Frontpoint’s cheapest plan, though.)
ADT is the worst company ever! Their business model is literally extortion. If you enjoy paying thousands of dollars to have them mount stuff all around your home just to have them months later unilaterally decide to charge you more for your monthly service then literally tell you that you either pay or go to collections...then ADT is for you. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company, they only care about getting you in a contract where they can then charge you whatever they want without any paperwork to back up their extra charges.
