I run a small apartment complex and wanted to get a reliable protection service and it looks like ADT is the only one that offers the ability to allow me to make separate logins and new pass codes. The apartments I run are 3 month leases so they are for people in between housing or moving, ect.
The technician arrived to install the system and explained how the 2-way voice works. I think I will use the Pulse App feature alot more than this but it is a good feature to have. Don't count on getting a rate at the $36.99 mentioned price, most likely it will be around $45-50 unless you do the old land line system. Either way I got a good deal and a lot of free equipment so thanks for doing this research.

Hi Tonya - alarm equipment really lasts longer than three years! It really hasn't come too far in technology since it went from wired security systems to wireless. In the 14 years since its been little things like key remote, touch screens etc but you really don't need to replace a alarm system every three years! (Or at least I dont). I'm sure if you call them they will work something out for you but basically is sounds like if you don't ask for it after contract is up they aren't going to be the ones to remind you you need new equipment. Just like any other monthly company (phones, Internet, TV) if you are paying with no questions asked they will just enjoy having a steady payment coming in. One day, I burned some food on the stove and set the fire alarm off. The phone rang immediately. I mean, I didn’t need any help or anything, but the speed of their response was impressive. The one time I did need this alarm was when I got robbed. Some kids apparently walked out of my house with my most valued posession in broad daylight on a weekday. Unfortunately, like I said, I hadn’t been setting the panel anymore. So I had to make an insurance claim. I’ve had no problems with the product or the monitoring service. The only thing I would warn people about is in making the habit of using it. I’m now considering adding video cameras, which has brought me here so I wanted to leave my 2 cents behind. Thanks.
When I was a kid, we had ADT in the house and my parents raved about the service. When I had to choose my own service once I got older, of coarse I chose something familiar. BIG mistake. I guess they have just gotten so money hungry/rich over the years they just don’t care about customers at all any more. All we are to them are q notch in their sales quota. From outdated equipment, to lack of knowledge of the customer service department. They should really have TRAINING in the services and equipment they provide opposed to “training” on how to read the screen prompts ….heaven forbid those don’t work or they stumble around and want to transfer you etc….you have more a chance of figuring things out on your own, or better yet let a kid do it. They seem to have more knowledge nowdays than any customer service rep REALLY has. Plain and simple…..I will NEVER be using ADT again.

If you do provide your address to the receptionist, the sales consultant will work to put together a security package and schedule a technician’s on-site visit. During this walk-through, the technician will provide recommendations on ways to improve your security solution with additional features. These upgrades and additions fall outside of the initial price of the system, so carefully consider the additional cost and value to you before signing the agreement. Once the paperwork is complete and you’ve signed ADT’s three-year service contract, the technician will install your system. After the initial 3-year period, your contract will renew on a month-to-month basis. To cancel, you will need to provide 30-day notice of intent to terminate.
Good review overall, I didnt realize they have been around for so long! I just wish they did more in the ways of customer retintion as mentioned in this review. Basically if you never complain then they will just keep taking your money. That may be normal with most companies but now that I know i am telling my parents to get rid of their old security equipmnent and get new stuff for free.
Initial quote and installation was misleading. We were quoted $39.99, plus a gift card and additional “credit” towards equipment. We were told if we didn't agree with the package we could decide not to install. Turns out the package I discussed with the original sales agent was $52.00 a month plus 4 payments of $400 for equipment. The technician was persistent and after stating several times we would like to crunch numbers before deciding due to the new quote, did not listen and kept installing. Did not give us the products we asked. I was charged twice for installation, once after my initial phone call and the second time after the installation.
As mentioned, SimpliSafe updated its equipmentto enhance its already reliable features and to offer a streamlined design on par with security companies like GetSafe and Frontpoint. The new system has twice the range of the original and is “five times faster” in communicating with other equipment. SimpliSafe also reinforced the system’s back-up cellular connection so that it’s even more secure. Though we haven’t tested the new SimpliSafe equipment just yet, the advancements are promising and innovate on a system that was solid to begin with.
At that point I went through ADT's PR department and was put in touch with a different representative who was unaware of my initial outreach as just another customer. What impressed me later, however, was that even though I went through the consultation twice, both were equally thorough, professional, and both representatives recommended similar core security capabilities.
There is a reason why ADT ranks low in our review: It doesn't disclose information about its equipment pricing and security packages other than the equipment it offers. Other home security companies gave us this information in phone calls, live chats and emails. In contrast, ADT requires in-home assessments and credit checks in order to provide this type of information. First and foremost I’d like to say My Family is SAFE!I have been a member of the ADT FAMILY for several years as a happy customer.Having two security systems on at different locations (2- homes) my homes are safe.As for the service and technician installer everything was explained very professional.All items explained and my choice of upgrading is my call, installation was fairly fast but speed isn’t what I’m looking for, it’s meticulous and perfection as to where and how the equipment is installed. And my installer did a very good job not only with equipment but explaining to my wife and I on how to use all upgrades .On a scale 1thru 10 and 10 being the best…….. My rating is 10+And this is why Im a customer and have full trust with ADT and most important!My family feel safe at night or anytime I leave on business trip.
Cellguard is not a single product, but a series of components. First is the security panel. You may be able to use an existing ADT panel, or you may need a newer model with a cellular chip. Once you have a panel with a cellular chip, your system is ready to communicate with the monitoring center through a wireless cellular network. Cellular can be your sole means of communication with the monitoring center, or if you don’t want to ditch your landline, Cellguard can be used as a backup form of communication. In this case, Cellguard stays “switched off” so long as the landline is active, but if your landline is disrupted or disconnected, it automatically “switches on”.
Although all the alarms at my house have been false due to forgetting the alarms were on or accidentally breaking something, all of these were responded to very quickly by very courteous and efficient personnel. I feel very safe in my home when I’m there and very confident that my home is monitored well when I’m away. Tremendously thankful for a wonderful alarm system and helpful staff.

A few min later he comes to me and tells me he’s got bad news and all my stuff is out date. (i thought that was pretty fun because I had looked in the box downstairs before calling and the inside cover clearly had a sticker on it stating it was install about 10 months earlier) I played along… He did his little sales pitch about giving me better stuff and blah blah then he says it’s like $700 to replace what I had as he’s shoving paperwork & a pen at me. I told him he was out of his mind! So then he tells me he’s gonna call his boss and see what he can do, a few minutes later he tells me he can give it to me for free. At this point I’m totally weirded out by the guy and told him I needed time to think and could I call him later. He got totally indignit with me and couldn’t understand what my problem was and that it was free. I asked him to leave and he sat down at my kitchen table! I tried to be very polite but he wouldn’t get up he said he was gonna see what else he could work out or something ridiculous. I left the room and called my neighbor who came over and removed the man from my house. It was absolutely insane!
