Worst experience ever. Unreliable and irresponsible service. Even for urgent matters you have to wait on line for at least 30 minutes. And because ADT Canada was not able to pick up my phone call within a few minutes as stated clearly to me the police was dispatched. When you tried to explain no one at ADT cares to take any responsibility. I have been with ADT for almost 10 years and they will not consider your loyalty if something goes wrong. I decided to leave this company. Even your alarm goes off now you will be asked to press 1 then 2 then ……. and wait forever. Think twice if you want professional and timely service.
Agreed, thanks for the research on this company. You guys pointed out several things I didn't know or hadn't thought of. The only reason I was maybe not going to get ADT was because it seems 'generic' but they seem to have the best equipment and their contract states they won't raise your monthly price so all around worth it. After calling a few other companies as well I feel much more comfortable with ADT's reliability.

So I have a ADT Alarm System in my house that was already here when I moved in and recently today the power randomly went out and came back on which I guess rebooted the system. I decided to step outside to see if everything was okay and when I opened my door the alarm went off and was extremely loud.. I held my hand over the speaker to kill most of the sound and decided to call ADT because I didn't know what to do I never had this happen to me before. When I called ADT the guy told me someone can come out tomorrow to take a look at it and stop it from making noise but I had to pay $100. This is for a security system I didn't set up, so I just had my husband unplug everything for now. Going to have the ADT rep still come out and see how much it would be for a new system to be put in. Most people probably don't fall into this situation but hope it helps nonetheless.

I have been an ADT customer for my two businesses. Because the locations were far apart I had to make it two separate systems but I still got a good discount for having them both under my name. I got all the equipment for free, and their Pulse monitoring package for under $99 a month (keep in mind that's 2 locations). I figure that is a cheap price to pay to keep an eye on all the high expenses inside my business and I am going to do it for my home too. Cheaper then most the other home bills people pay like TV, internet and utilities and yet it actually protects the most important things, their valuables and their family members. It's a wonder why some people are too cheap to pay for this assuming they can afford a house in the first place.

Furthermore, it is interesting that the burglar was bold enough to target our house despite all the ADT signs we have posted all over and not to mention a very blatant camera in our driveway!!!!  Hmmmm.. Is this an inside job?  Did the tech who installed our cameras intentionally NOT setup the automation/alert features?  Does ADT run background checks on their staff???

We had ADT service for about 3 years in Columbus, OH. We “tested” the system several times, when our cat would accidentally set it off, or when we would by forgetting to turn it off and then opening the door. And every time the company quickly contacted us, always very professional and calmly asked for our security code. I felt very confident that in a true emergency they’d be just as responsive!
The morning of 3/15 i noticed my ADT app and camera were not working, later after I had gotten home from work I called ADT customer service. After spending 55 minutes troubleshooting with customer service they decided to send a tech out to fix. 3 minutes after i hung up the phone someone kicked in my front door. Yes they did call me and call the police but the camera was no working and I was unable to see what was going on through my phone. The camera would have gotten a video of the criminal. I called ADT and told them what happened they expedited someone to come out and fix the issue. The tech came on 3/16 and after about two hours was unable to fix the issue. I have it on recording where the tech admitted the hardware had failed. It has only been 15 months and the hardware failed. I had to take off today 3/20 for the tech to come back out and fix it, the tech was able to fix it but now my key fob does not work and they have to send a tech out again and i have to take another day off from work. I called the company multiple times and complained that their equipment failed me when i needed them and i wanted to cancel my contract, they told me i would have to pay all termination fees. I should not have to pay fees because they did not hold up their end of the contract i pay extra for the app and camera and it failed me. I do not want money or anything i just want out of my contract. I have to get a lawyer now and get the BBB involved.
Just canceled my alarm monitoring as of 10/29/2018 'cause they were ripping me off at $42 a month! I have an old BHS-4000A alarm system that was installed 10 years ago which can function independently, non monitored, and as a stand alone unit. Found out the hard way that ADT locks down your entire alarm system when you cancel!! I can't even use it as a stand alone alarm!! Even ADT's phone number shows up on the keypad display to call them!! These scumbags at ADT are holding my alarm, that I own, hostage!! It's all over the internet that they do this! 'Security' company my **!! Stay away from this company! They are not in the business to protect you, just their own wallet! Hey ADT, want to change my mind? Unlock my alarm!
After many hours spent trying to contact the right people within ADT to solve this problem, one of the customer service supervisors provided me with a statement credit and indicated that the manager at the local ADT office advised me to purchase a particular type of garage door opener (at my own expense), which should then work with ADT equipment. When I attempted to directly contact this local office manager in order to determine the exact equipment model to purchase, I left three voicemails, none of which were returned. I exchanged an email with someone at ADT (corporate, presumably) about the frustrating situation, but when I inquired about HOW to get the local office manager to call me back, she also stopped responding (I tried sending the email twice). When I tried calling the customer service supervisor who originally gave me a statement credit and advised me about the local office manager’s recommendation, that call also went unreturned.
I have been with ADT since 2004. I work out of town and really like the peace of mind I get with ADT protecting my home. The only call I have had since 2004 was during a storm. It appeared that the storm set off the alarm. My only complaint is the monthly fees. There have been small increases in fees over the years, never more than one dollar. I received a letter that they are increasing the monthly fee by $3.00 next month. Are they upgrading my system? No. Has there been an increase in alarm activity on my system? No. I guess they need the increase to give an executive a pay raise. Well, they have raised their fees out of my house. I am now going to find another security firm that appreciates long term customers. Good bye ADT.

Beware of these cheaters (ADT). I used their service for 10+ years…their service has been declining day by day. They don’t care about existing customers. First you pay a lot for the equipment and then after one year warranty period, they charge you for any failure/visit.Also, Police doesn’t even respond to their calls in majority of California cities (don’t know about other states)Finally, I decided to switch to a ‘better’ option, and I called to cancel. First they tried to convince me to stay with ADT, and later when it didn’t work, they informed me it will take 30 days to disconnect my service (so they can charge another month of monitoring fee).What a ripoff !Keep a distance from them.
I have a question... Wouldn't it be cheaper and more affordable to just get my own security cams online and run those instead of adding these to my ADT contract? My husband brought this up because his brother in law has security cameras around the house and they run off the wifi and there is no monthly bill for them. I think it is like $10 a month for the app, that is it.

He then said he would connect me to the “presedential dept” only to come back after holding for 5 minutes to tell me that he was not going to be able to do that. He said I could contact the local supplier to discuss this further as he was trying to get me off the phone in any way possible. I already went through that channel and the local company has nothing to do with billing!
I have had ADT security for almost 2 years now. I bought the system to help protect my family after a home invasion. After 1 year of service, we moved and chose to transfer service to our new house. We had a technician come out and perform the installation and once that was complete we started using the system. A year after transferring service to my new home, I had an issue with the keypad. They will not stop their auto payment system and are overcharging us too. They will not stop their services until I respond to a email that came 1 week after my first call but I didn't see it before it expired. We are being charged more than contract price too. When I called again today, just like my first attempt, I was in hold for over 20 minutes. Again, I was told to expect an email and respond to it before they will cancel their auto pay. WHY SHOULDN'T THEY STOP THEIR SYSTEM? I told my wife that I guess we will have to close our bank account and move our money someplace else!
When I moved to Fuquay Varina, they kept calling and knocking on the door until I finally gave in and signed up. Since then - NOTHING - no contact or follow-up whatsoever - even when I've twice requested a new book to replace the one I was given. When I agreed to sign up, they were offering service for about $27.00 per month. When the installer visited, I was sick with a lupus flare that also affected my cognition. Turned out, they took advantage of an elderly, ill woman, charging me not 27 but 47 dollars per month. In addition, when I could think clearly again, I discovered I had signed for THREE years and not the one year the salesman had told me.

Hi Tonya - alarm equipment really lasts longer than three years! It really hasn't come too far in technology since it went from wired security systems to wireless. In the 14 years since its been little things like key remote, touch screens etc but you really don't need to replace a alarm system every three years! (Or at least I dont). I'm sure if you call them they will work something out for you but basically is sounds like if you don't ask for it after contract is up they aren't going to be the ones to remind you you need new equipment. Just like any other monthly company (phones, Internet, TV) if you are paying with no questions asked they will just enjoy having a steady payment coming in. The customer rep offered me to re-schedule another appointment and I said I don’t think so, do you want to reschedule another time to waste my entire morning and get upset.  I have never had a problem so far with our alarm system, but dealing with this kind of poor business, especially for a new or additional business from a customer did not seem to be their priority.
All in all, I'd have to say that this is a decent setup. It's a basic security system that is easy to install and that my wife can easily operate. There are a few quirks that I'm not clear as to whether they are solvable or not, but these don't appear to impact functionality. It performs the basic tasks that it's supposed to perform in an apparently reliable manner, so far.
We have had only problems with ADT services for our business. Their response time to an actual burglary seems to be in excess of an hour or more. When confronted with an issue with their services, they make up any excuse to not be held accountable. Also claims to have a six-month money back guarantee. ADT provides poor customer service and acts with negligence.

If you get outdoor cameras installed with their Pulse system make sure you check that they are in the positions you want. My sons Mongoose bike got stolen and the camera's didn't capture it because they weren't positioned right (so we have nothing to present to the police dept.) Rookie mistake on our end, have adjusted things and next time bad guys swing around I'll get them.
This will depend on which option you choose. We were able to find that most, but not all, ADT packages require a landline. For an added cost, you can have the ADT Cellular Guard technology monitoring package with Remote and Video service levels. Basically, your control panel will be equipped with a cellular chip. You won’t have to choose either a landline or cellular connection—you can simply have the cellular as a backup in case something happens to your landline.
