ADT has been the only home security service I've ever seen my family use when I was growing up and now I've installed it in my own home! It's just the perfect home security because it got you covered in 150 places without stress. Their packages are great and the support is always there to clear any confusion so you don't regret any choice. Maybe I'm just lazy and don't care to do further research but it's always worked for me. I don't think they could be a scam if they have 7+ million paying customers.
From what customers are saying, once you actually get the ADT system in your home, everything will be fine. It’s ordering and installing that usually give people a bit of a headache. ADT doesn’t have the strongest customer service reputation among the companies we considered, racking up more than 3,000 complaints on its Better Business Bureau page. While we chalked most of this up to the fact that ADT has several million more customers than its competitors, our tester began his call with low expectations. The installation process was also shady. That being said after he scared us about break ins in the area we still wanted protection. Once service began it was great until we had to move and eventually sell our home. It was at this point when I discovered he had committed us to a 3 year contract and signed a document for it–FORGERY! And because he most likely had my wife click a link without being able to read the contract because of the “necessary edits he had to make” we were going to be held to fire for this contract. I told a representative we no longer were going to own the property and to cancel service and to send me a copy of the contract. This is where I saw he signed the contract not me!
When I was a kid, we had ADT in the house and my parents raved about the service. When I had to choose my own service once I got older, of coarse I chose something familiar. BIG mistake. I guess they have just gotten so money hungry/rich over the years they just don’t care about customers at all any more. All we are to them are q notch in their sales quota. From outdated equipment, to lack of knowledge of the customer service department. They should really have TRAINING in the services and equipment they provide opposed to “training” on how to read the screen prompts ….heaven forbid those don’t work or they stumble around and want to transfer you etc….you have more a chance of figuring things out on your own, or better yet let a kid do it. They seem to have more knowledge nowdays than any customer service rep REALLY has. Plain and simple…..I will NEVER be using ADT again.
I have had ADT security for almost 2 years now. I bought the system to help protect my family after a home invasion. After 1 year of service, we moved and chose to transfer service to our new house. We had a technician come out and perform the installation and once that was complete we started using the system. A year after transferring service to my new home, I had an issue with the keypad. I called my local ADT office to have them come out and repair it, only to be informed that they never actually transferred the service to my new address!
Average contracts: Customers sometimes complain that the 36-month contracts for ADT monitoring are too long. We should point out that a 36-month contract is fairly standard in the home security industry. However, customers who care about shorter contracts with more flexibility could look into other companies.
