I have the ADT Premier Pulse system.  I got a good price on the install and the system worked.  Enjoy the automation.  I have added over a dozen of my own modules using the installer code.  Recently I wanted to expand the system with wired camera’s.  To do this requires an IP server/decoder called the NV412A-ADT.  This unit costs about 75 dollars with an ADT analog camera at 250.00  installing one unit can be pretty pricey.  I had analog ADT cameras from another source (ebay) much cheaper.  My local ADT sales person seemed unable or unwilling to purchase the NV412’s for me.  I posted on their facebook page and got a quick response.  They made me advise them of the camera model numbers before they would sell me the product.  My local sales person eventually just stopped trying to help.  I was shocked by that.  Bottom line, they wanted to do the install.  I don’t need them to.  Since they were not going to make any money on the deal they didn’t seem to worried about moving quickly on this issue.  Very frustrating.  I do love the system.

We had an ADT alarm system installed yesterday.  The gentleman who installed it was very nice. I felt in no way pressured to buy more equipment. He gave me his suggestions as to what he recommended, and then ended his suggestions with “It is your home, you have the final decision.” He was very professional, took off his shoes upon entering my home, and did a very good job. He even waited until my husband got home from work to explain the system to him. I am very pleased with everything I have experienced so far and hope to stay that way.
- I did notice a randomly occurring discrepancy where the SmartThings iOS app will, at times, say that there aren't any monitorable devices under Home Security, while other times the app will tell me the system is 'ready to arm'. Both the app and the security hub have up-to-date software so I'm not sure what's going on there. This doesn't appear to impact functionality as the security hub touchscreen will allow arming/disarming of the system in either scenario.
THE LIGHT CAME ON UP BY THE GARAGE THAT MY HUSBANDS BUSINESS WAS IN EARLY MORNING STILL DARK OUT I KNEW SOMETHING WASN’T RIGHT I RAN UP TO SEE AND SURE ENOUGH ,A KID WAS TRYING TO GET INTO OUR BUSINESS HE SAW ME AND GOT ANGRY AND BECAME VERY VIOLENT TOWARDS BE FORTUNATELY IT HAD SET OF AN ALARM TO OUR LOCAL COPS AND THEY WERE ON THERE WAY SO I TOLD HIM THAT AND HE TOOK OFF REALLY QUICK LEAVING ME ALONE NO LONGER HASSLING ME. THE LOCAL POLICE CAUGHT UP WITH HIM SHORTLY AFTER, AND HE WAS TAKEN TO JAIL. HE HAD A WARRANT OUT FOR AN ASSAULT TO A WOMEN IN WHICH SHE WAS 9 MTHS PREGNANT. HE HAD REALLY HURT HER BAD. I THANK MY LUCKY STARS EVERYDAY FOR OUR ADT 🙂

ADT utilizes a nationwide network of authorized dealers as well as their own personnel to sell, install and support ADT security system. The dealer network allows ADT to maintain a local presence for their customers while providing the stability and service capabilities of a large, national security provider. However, it can also lead to an inconsistent experience for customers and negative customer reviews. Online customer reviews typically revolve around issues with local dealers and include missed appointments, aggressive upselling and misrepresentation.
After many hours spent trying to contact the right people within ADT to solve this problem, one of the customer service supervisors provided me with a statement credit and indicated that the manager at the local ADT office advised me to purchase a particular type of garage door opener (at my own expense), which should then work with ADT equipment. When I attempted to directly contact this local office manager in order to determine the exact equipment model to purchase, I left three voicemails, none of which were returned. I exchanged an email with someone at ADT (corporate, presumably) about the frustrating situation, but when I inquired about HOW to get the local office manager to call me back, she also stopped responding (I tried sending the email twice). When I tried calling the customer service supervisor who originally gave me a statement credit and advised me about the local office manager’s recommendation, that call also went unreturned.
You're bang on there, Ann. In times when the economy is not in the pink of its health, the incidents of burglaries and thefts have shoot up considerably in the country. I think people should start taking home security seriously and stop thinking that the chances of thieves breaking into their homes is negligible and as early as possible, should go with a good security company like ADT or Protect America, and secure their homes and future.
I like that my rate hasn't risen in the past 5 years I have been with ADT. I just called in to upgrade to Pulse and it took alittle bit of figuring out with the customer support but I got it and I only have to pay another 1 time fee for the technician to come and replace my panel and add some new equipment. I'm really excited for it and their cameras are top notch from the research and comparison I have done.

City-wide power failure Christmas morning 2015. Power went out while my daughter was preparing our traditional shrimp and grits. Soon after, we hastily left to grandparents' home for early dinner. Before the meal was over, we got a call from ADT. My daughter forgot to turn off the burner under the shrimp. We arrived to a yard full of firemen. Lots of smoke, but praise God, no fire. ADT contacted me and notified fire dept asap. This could have been a real disaster! System worked perfectly!!! Like a TV commercial. Thanks ADT!!!
I upgraded from ADT basic after 8 years to ADT Pulse and it feels like a whole new company and equipment. I went from having to enter my keycode into the panel to now being able to use the Pulse app from our phones and tablets and having live access through the cameras anytime. It cost about $15 more a month than what I was paying but we got rid of the land line and are loving it. Get what you think you might want ahead of time so you don't have to pay to upgrade later. They have good deals and promo's as well.
At the end of the day, it's all about the sign outside your house. The respect err. fear from thieves and burgulars the sign of ADT commands is simply astonishing. The high deterrence quotient of ADT's very recognizable sign in itself is a very good reason for going with them. In the end, no one messes with a house with a yard sign that says, "Secured by ADT" in blues and whites and a great system to back it up. Enough said!

ADT has the first thought name for security, but, worst to deal with. The sales tactics and the service performance is substandard. Pressuring to sign the contract…they will not let you review the it and its terms, only point to sign here. Pricing higher than anyone. The sales person kept calling me although I said not to. I suggest to never use them!!!
Their products have stayed up to date. They do a lot of product testing and data gathering before launching a new product into their lineup. Because of this careful consideration (and lack of bugs in their app) I will continue to be loyal to ADT. I have friends that go with other companies only to suffer lots of technical problems, faulty equipment and things that can only be worked out over years of testing with millions of users.

We had the worst time when we moved. It's a really long story, but the cliff notes version is that they said it would be an easy transfer and offered approx $400 worth in services. The control box and the keypad device both came with nearly dead batteries. 2 separate occasions they started beeping in the middle of the night. ADT told us to go to Radio Shack to get the batteries....we went there, Amazon, ebay, etc. and no one sold them. The system couldn't be accessed on our phones either. My upfront costs were high compared with the competition, and even if they'd come in at ADT's more average price of $1,100 to $1,500, I still would have choked a bit. But as you'll see below, mine is a fairly decked out example of an ADT installation. While I wasn't thrilled about the very expensive startup charge, the monthly dues seem reasonable considering what was installed. And while my addition of the Quality Service Plan cost me another $11 per month, I felt that was worth it since it covers parts and labor on any devices that need fixing; and besides, I received a $7 and change monthly discount because I'm a State Farm customer, a discount that'll apply to you, too, if you use not just State Farm, but also USAA, MetLife, Chubb, and several other insurance providers. They gave us a huge hassle for stopping service at a house we no longer lived in! Anything (equipment changes, moves, etc.) starts a new three year contract. In the amount of time I have had ADT services, I could have bought and paid for multiple, more cost effective services, not to mention the level of customer service. I am done!

I am extremely disappointed with my most recent encounter with an ADT technician by the name of John C. for starters I greeted him kindly and he completely ignored me as if I was speaking to someone else in the room . Upon him asking me what issues I was having with my system, he kept cutting me off stating we were using the system incorrectly, and raising his voice at me to the point he was practically yelling at me answering me in a scornful manner. For someone whose job consists of interacting with other people and in this case required going into people’s homes where they are supposed to be helping a person, his behavior was very rude and unacceptable. The equipment, security system and ADT Pulse has been great. Just had a rough start with the tech but I suppose not all of them are going to be like that, he could've been having a bad day.

SimpliSafe does take a much more basic approach to security than the rest of our top five. You aren’t going to get as many bells and whistles with a SimpliSafe system. In fact, it doesn’t even use a control panel like other alarm systems. Instead, you get a central hub and tactile keypad. The technician explained that ADT’s broadband systems have trouble connecting to Suddenlink routers, which our tester had, so he tried a different kind of command hub. We wish we had known about that extra charge upfront.


When relocating with ADT make sure you call them ahead of time and let them know the situation. You don't want to end up with 2 monitoring homes or contracts in place. I forgot too and then at my new house it was a headache getting things straightened out but luckily I didn't end up paying anything extra. So if you move, call them and see if they want you to keep some of the equipment or if they will put a new one in your new location (which is most common).

Do not waste your money on ADT outdoor security system. Not only did their outdoor system not pick up any clip at all due to no motion (so we have nothing to present to the police dept.) but when I called asking for a resolution no one wanted to give me a supervisor and the only ones paying for my sons stolen bike(which was about 10 feet from the camera) is my fiance and I. Save your money; keep your money. Their security is a joke. We signed a 3 year contract, paid to have their service installed and now we are paying to be robbed not only by the thief that stole my sons bike but by ADT too.

When the tech installed my service he installed the motion detector upside down. Yes, upside down. I didn’t even know I didn’t have service for the first two months because it was scanning my ceiling. I really like the upgrade to their Pulse smart phone control app. It makes everything much easier. Got rid of the old crummy control panel, got a sleeker one and put it in the closet and then setup sub accounts for my kids and anyone I want to access the home security system. I don't feel ripped off by their pricing although I'm skeptical that it really costs $50 a month for monitoring. I suppose they need to make their money somewhere and this is where they do.

I run a small apartment complex and wanted to get a reliable protection service and it looks like ADT is the only one that offers the ability to allow me to make separate logins and new pass codes. The apartments I run are 3 month leases so they are for people in between housing or moving, ect.

I was satisfied with ADT and as a single woman, my security system gave me the peace of mind I needed to relax in my home with out fearing for my safety. I also enjoyed knowing that when I went on vacation, my house was secure. Many advances in home security systems have been developed since I had my system though and I would love to see what is available now with closed circuit cameras etc.
