Once your service rep has designed a system for you and you've signed off, you'll get your second visit from ADT installation technicians. Installation is a four- to eight-hour affair. In my case, technicians arrived at 8:00 in the morning and left by 3:30 in the afternoon. My sales rep was there to walk me through what was happening, as well as two ADT technicians who did most of the work, but also, at separate intervals, an independent locksmith came to handle the smart lock and an electrician to handle the thermostat controls and other components like cabling for the Z-Wave hub ADT uses for its home automation equipment. Pulse is touted as a wireless system, but various central components, like the hub and the CellGuard backup box require the techs to run some cable and also require one physical port on your home Internet router (lower service tiers with less advanced equipment can make do with a landline or even just a cell connection).
ADT has four monitored security packages to choose from: basic, basic wireless, ADT Pulse, and ADT Pulse + Video. Their monthly fees are on the high side, from $36.99 to $58.99. They require a 36-month minimum contract. Additionally, in the event of early contract termination, ADT may ask the client to pay 70% of the monthly charges due for the balance of the first 36-months. They do offer a 6-month money back guarantee and a 90-day limited warranty for their products, but all in all a rather stringent pricing and contract policy.
I canceled my account with ADT back in June, and it is now November and they are still sending me voicemails, invoices, and threatening to send me to the debt collection agency!! Every two weeks, I call ADT so that THEY can FINALLY cancel my account, and EVERY SINGLE time they apologize and assure me that the account has been closed and that I will no longer receive emails, invoices, and threats. BUT not even 48 hours later, I will still be receiving calls, voicemails, emails, and threats.
Heads up -- if you use ADT monitoring services through your landline, if your landline is cut or goes down they are no longer able to monitor it. Use wireless / cell phone towers when you sign up!! I learned this the hardway, after a storm cut out our landline I thought I was still secure but I wasn't and lost a lot of belongings. I suppose it's time to upgrade from landlines anyways by now but I was still paying a cheaper monthly fee for it so I hadn't upgraded.
The worst service! I just moved in to my home not even 2 months and my home was broken into, I was told one thing when I purchased services and when Safe Haven their contract dealers came, it was something totally different. The burglar came through the windows cause no motion sensor where there, and the screen was broken to the main box! When the tech came out he told me I was not covered and I had to pay 400 dollars up front or buy 1100 dollars worth of equipment in order to protect my home that I pay them every month to monitor. Buyers please be aware! YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED BY THIS OVER PRICED SCAM COMPANY!!! DO NOT PURCHASE YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING YOUR OWN SECURITY SYSTEM
I have tried to resolve my issues through customer service. No luck. I was quoted that my monthly bill would be 29.99 per month. It turns out that because I received cameras and access to ADT PULSE my monthly bill is $70 per month. HUGE difference and ADT was unwilling to do anything about it except to come and uninstall my equipment. I should have been told this information from the beginning. I was also told that if I paid the $105 installation fee that I would receive a $100 gift card in the mail. After a few months I called in to see why I haven't received it.

Updated on 11/21/2018: I wanted to follow up regarding the resolution to my situation. Turns out there is no resolution. I called, emailed and called again the CEO's office and they didn't can would not answer my questions. Hung up on me. Their so called Corporate Relations Manager, is a joke, she needs a back to basics training in customer service. They know they are wrong that is why they will not comment on my review. If you look at other 1 star reviews put on here after mine, you will see their response to say sorry to the customer, but mine? They won't even bother. They know I am telling the truth. Since they want to go ahead and blacklist me and remove services, that's fine. I will gladly take my money elsewhere; but they couldn't answer the one question I had for them that they are trying to use as their defense. Where does it say in the contract that they can cancel at any time and for any reason? Nowhere! Read the fine print.
