Again, all of the issues that we encountered in the first few months were frustrating, but taken individually (or even collectively), these issues wouldn’t necessarily compel me to persuade consumers to NOT use ADT since most of the technicians and customer service agents which whom I interacted generally appeared to have good intentions to help customers and to provide good customer service.
We had ADT come to give us a quote on their equipment for home security. We already have a different system installed in our home. The salesman told us he had to connect ADT's keypad to see if we had enough juice to operate their system. He proceeded to take our existing keypad off the way and put his on. When all was done we decided not to go with the ADT system because it was too expensive for us.

I got a system installed for free when I signed a 5-year contract.  It was valued at about $1800.  The novelty wore off and I stopped setting it after a few months.  I display the sign in my front window and people can see the panel when they come into my house, which looks pretty cool.  At the very least, I figured the advertising would be enough of a deterent.  I live in a quiet area after all.
If there is a lightning storm I found out ADT's security system still works for 7-10 days if the power goes out. I didn't find this out until it happened in my area but it made me happy I was with them! Luckily our power was out only 2 days but there was a lot of break ins throughout the city in those 2 days. I also learned when I called them during this time that if one of their monitoring stations goes out in a lightning storm that it automatically reroutes your monitoring to another station.
We’re big fans of mobile access because it’s what home security is for—knowing your home is safe at any time and doing something about it when it’s threatened. Most companies now allow you to control your system this way from a keychain remote controller, mobile device (iOS or Android mostly), or web-based app for ease of use and distant check-ins.
Then there’s the monitoring service – they offer $27.99/mo but that’s only if you have a land phone line in your home. Including the warranty on the equipment that is supposed to be $36.99, but again they claim it’s only if you have a land line. I know others who have the service without a land line paying $36.99 no problem, yet ADT claims they don’t do that. Total garbage and lies. So now the monthly monitoring fee is up to $48.99 for wireless. However if you speak with their customer service, they will bring that down to $44.99/month and offer $300 in gift cards to make up the difference between the $48.99 and the $36.99 as promised. It’s all such a set up.

Vivint offers a month-to-month contract, but you’ll need to purchase all of your equipment upfront to open up that option. Like most home security companies, Vivint’s equipment can be costly, and paying at least $600 at the time of purchase might not fit into your budget. If you can swing it, however, month-to-month service is more flexible than a long-term contract — and helps you avoid potential termination fees.
ADT scores high by providing professional installation and top-quality relocatable products that can be customized to fit your needs and the layout of your business or home. Their security systems include an event triggered alarm, live surveillance, an assortment of indoor and outdoor cameras, motion sensors, door and window sensors, recessed door sensors, glass break protection, and crash and smash protection for their control panel. They also provide environmental protection, such as carbon monoxide, flood, temperature change and smoke sensors, as well as a panic button and an emergency alert button.
So since the guy was already there i was friendly and greeted him but explained i had canceled and was no longer looking for security at the moment due to some issues. He stated he couldn't leave until his boss gave him permission. His boss(ADAM)  was very rude and told him to just leave the security system on my counter and to leave and that i wasn't receiving a refund  (YET I DIDN'T EVEN RECEIVE INSTALLATION NOR DID HE EVEN TAKE OUT THE SYSTEM OUT OF HIS CAR)  When i told him(Adam) My husband was on deployment and wasn't moving in until January ADAM kept pushing it on me after telling him NO several times. He states he already had a cancellation and couldn't receive another cancellation for the day. THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM. They instillation person was very nice but stayed at my house (inside) for 2 hours. I Had to speak to 4 different people just to cancel and have the tech person to leave.  It was the worst experience of customer service i have EVER experienced. ADT does not care about you only their money. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!!! SCAM

Nearly all of the latest DIY and high-end home security systems offer support for voice control via Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and in some cases Apple Siri, which allows you to unlock doors, change thermostat settings, open the garage, and arm or disarm your system with a spoken command to a connected device like an Amazon Echo or a Google Home speaker. Many also offer support for IFTTT (If This Then That) applets, which use triggers from IFTTT-compatible web services and devices to create an action. For example, you can create an applet that says if a garage door is opened to turn on the floodlight.
The only major downside to Pulse is price and its three-year service contract. When compared with other players, like Vivint or Frontpoint, the pricing structure is similar in that there's an upfront installation cost you can pay all at once or spread across the first three months, and then a monthly cost for maintenance and monitoring. If you compare only prices published on the web, then ADT Pulse looks very competitive. But in practice, if you opt for the higher end of the tiering scale and a modified system with a bunch of devices that aren't included in a basic tier package (and ADT will steer you that way), your price will quickly balloon. In my case, I wound up with an excellent all-around solution, but an eyebrow-arching upfront cost of $3,276.79 and a monthly charge of $63.89, which makes Pulse the most expensive solution we've tested to date.

With my setup, there are two external IP video cameras, namely the single unit from ADT that came with my system and is mounted above the garage, and the video cam installed in the Ring Video Doorbell, which the ADT technicians deliberately placed in such a way not just to record anyone in front of the door, but also to let it act as a backup viewing angle to the one mounted over the garage, just from the other side of the yard.
ADT is an international company with a number of different locations, making ADT a good choice if your family plans to move in the near future. Customers who have had a system for at least two years are eligible for a free security system when they move and given a discount off the total installation price. This is not great news for customers who need to move before the two year period.
Even if we didn't get a military discount (I'm in services) I still would have gone for ADT. Almost all of my fellow comrades are using ADT in their houses and they don't have any complaints yet. Though obviously military discount is always sweet. It goes on to show how caring and patriotic a company is towards their nation. No home security company I know of does that I think.
Within each of ADT’s three package options, you’ve got various ways to upgrade or modify to better match your specific needs. Also, while ADT is known for offering high-quality equipment, if you are planning to lease it or you have your own equipment and you want to just obtain the monitoring service, the plan starts at a very competitive $19.99 a month.
