I said I'm being relocated to NYC, not cancelling your service because I don't want it anymore. How am I supposed to plan for that when I initiate your service? Plus I'm keeping my other account open. He said you signed a 3 year contract and have to pay out the remainder regardless. And he wouldn't escalate me to a supervisor. I think this is outrageous and a horrible way to treat a customer. And thats why I'm posting my first ever review. I'm furious.
ADT’s service is made of up equipment backed by monitoring. Their equipment is primarily made by Honeywell and DSC, two of the largest home security equipment manufacturers. The base of the system is the control panel; ADT typically uses the DCS PC 1500RK keypad or a PC 1500. I had ADT for a couple of years. I did not have any issues but then again I did not have any break-ins. I wish that I would have gotten a security system in my apartment as it has been broken into twice now. ADT was easy to use, easy to pay for, which for me is a HUGE bonus. I like being in full control of where my money goes and when and this was the case with ADT. Being able to go online and change things as I see fit. The customer service reps are always efficient and polite although the hold times can get ridiculous.
I bought a house back in 2015 and decided to have a security system installed since I wasn’t going to be home much and would like some peace of mind. ADT was a pretty well known security company in my area and a few families in my neighborhood have ADT so I gave them a call. I ended up selling the house after a year and a half since I travel too much for work. I called to cancel my service to be told that I signed a three year contract and that I’d have to pay the remainder of the contract or I wouldn’t be able to cancel. I told them that I did not sign a contract and I was not made aware of there being a contract. The contract that I supposedly signed was emailed to me and the “signature” on the contract was nowhere close to mine. I was told to fill out a fraud package, to which I did. I filled out and sent in a fraud package only for the fraud department to say that my signature was “confirmed” and that it was me who sign it. How could I have sign a contract I was never informed about or seen? The only form I signed was the installment agreement and nowhere did it say I have to have the service for three years.

In the end, I wouldn’t say they are a scam, but I would say they are highly overpriced for what you get, and they seem to want to take advantage of any situation they can (single females, older people, parents who aren’t willing to have a weapon in the home). The techs didn’t seem to be the most knowledgable either. I’ve since spoken with SecureWatch who has guaranteed enough sensors for all of my doors (not just some) and several windows on the back of my house (all I really wanted) for only the $99 install fee plus taxes! Their monthly rate for the same service is also $5 less a month. The tech has already been out to check out the house and see what I need and made some very helpful suggestions about security in general. He didn’t try to upsell everything in his vehicle either.

The ADT Essentials plan for basic digital monitoring service has a limited lifetime warranty on parts and labor, something that other competitors do not offer. If you want additional protection, the Essentials Plus package includes 2-way voice monitoring. Like all plans, this one includes monitoring for police, fire, and medical emergencies. However, both plans require customers to have access to their own landline phone.
Overall, it works great. I tested the camera via the web app, on my Samsung Galaxy S7 running the Android Pulse mobile app, and on my Apple iPad Pro running the iOS Pulse app. Video resolution was excellent across all three views, though it's especially striking on the iPad due to its excellent screen. My only ding is what does and doesn't set off the camera can be a little erratic at times, with cars passing by on the street triggering it, but the garbage man walking down the driveway sometimes not doing the trick. That's only a few feet, however, and anyone traveling all the way down the driveway or walking from the street to the front door has, so far, always been recorded.
I have had ADT service for 5 years. This is after my cabin had a break in. The only problem I have had is the door sensor fell off and I was able to repair this myself. I can arm and disarm the equipment remotely by cellphone. When the alarm went off one time they were very responsive. Customer service advised me how to replace the battery in the key fob. My only complaint is I was given a discount for paying for multiple years in advance and this was not offered in future years. I requested additional yard signs and these were provided at no additional charge. I am satisfied with their service.

One day while at work, the person I left in charge of my child fell asleep, my 3 year old wanderer was actually about to open the door, and the alarm send me an alert as well as another to the police. I’d called home to make the sitter awarded of the situation. That alarm didn’t stop an stranger from entering, but stop my son from being harmed or taken… Thanks ADT….

Thanks to geofencing, you will be able to set up notifications to let you know who is where. For example, you can receive a notification when your kids make it to school or when they make it home. That same feature provides accurate emergency response, even when you’re away from home. If a crash is detected, ADT will send help. Alternatively, if you’re in a situation where you don’t feel safe, you can use the SOS Emergency Response feature. This feature is akin to panic button apps like SafeTrek. With the app open, you can press and hold the SOS button to call for help. ADT will first reach out to you. If they can’t reach you, they will dispatch emergency assistance.
Initial quote and installation was misleading. We were quoted $39.99, plus a gift card and additional “credit” towards equipment. We were told if we didn't agree with the package we could decide not to install. Turns out the package I discussed with the original sales agent was $52.00 a month plus 4 payments of $400 for equipment. The technician was persistent and after stating several times we would like to crunch numbers before deciding due to the new quote, did not listen and kept installing. Did not give us the products we asked. I was charged twice for installation, once after my initial phone call and the second time after the installation.
We are 20+ years loyal ADT customers. As veterans, my husband and I felt extremely comfortable leaving the country knowing our family's home security was being monitored by ADT while we were deployed. However, since our new home install in 2013, we have had nothing but issues; false alarms, unreliable alarm settings, unprompted notifications from the keypad, etc. We've made numerous calls, paid for upgrades, and had techs come to the house for troubleshooting with no resolution.
Terrible sales, installation, and service, especially for someone providing such critical installation and monitoring. They're great at acting nice, then following up with nothing or (at best) a bait-and-switch with extra charges, going back on their word, and requiring that you pay more money to get what was sold on the front end. I read the promotion fine print, read the contract, discussed with the technician and branch manager to clarify all the pieces. Then got passed through no less than two disjointed and loosely affiliated call centers which continued to require additional forms, contracts, and payments in order to get the original payment terms and rebates that drove the initial sale. You should pay more for service from a different company, because ADT will end up costing you more before the dust settles.
Pulse also works with Amazon Alexa (Echo, Dot, Plus, etc.) and Google Assistant devices (Home, Max, Mini, etc.). Expanding on voice control, both assistants let you command your Pulse system using your voice. You can arm and disarm your system as well as control your connected smart devices. As disarming a security system with your voice can possibly be a security risk, ADT has safe-proofed this feature by requiring a verbal four-digit pin.
At the end of the day, I believe that ADT wants to provide a good product and customer service, however, communication system is disjointed, broken and ineffective. The most disappointing thing is the fact that three different parties in different parts of their organization have gone completely cold in response to my attempts to determine how to fix my problem. I can only assume that they are completely incapable of addressing situations that are outside of the norm, especially when the issue is something that they should have informed me about before the equipment was installed. This is not only a disgrace from a customer service perspective, but completely insulting to a consumer who has a choice when selecting a home security service.

I didn't find this out until it happened in my area but it made me happy I was with them! Luckily our power was out only 2 days but there was a lot of break ins throughout the city in those 2 days. I also learned when I called them during this time that if one of their monitoring stations goes out in a lightning storm that it automatically reroutes your monitoring to another station.

Worst experience ever. Unreliable and irresponsible service. Even for urgent matters you have to wait on line for at least 30 minutes. And because ADT Canada was not able to pick up my phone call within a few minutes as stated clearly to me the police was dispatched. When you tried to explain no one at ADT cares to take any responsibility. I have been with ADT for almost 10 years and they will not consider your loyalty if something goes wrong. I decided to leave this company. Even your alarm goes off now you will be asked to press 1 then 2 then ……. and wait forever. Think twice if you want professional and timely service.

Also, don't expect ADT to listen to your complaint. You won't get past helpdesk support. They suggest you write a letter if you want to speak to anyone higher that helpdesk. A LETTER!, what century does this company live in. They must all drive to work using a Horse and Buggy. I knew at that point this wasn't the type of company that could provide me with the type of advanced security system you would expect in the 21st century.
Many times agreed to vist me, let’s say Wednesday morning so I decided to stay and wait just to receive a call that afternoon to reschedule. Can you believe it? Not even explaining/apologizing first. Sensors falling and activating the alarm causing the cops to come to finally find out that the sensor simply fall from the double face tape it was holding it. Yes, double face tape. Also, if you move in the middle of the 3 years contract, you are not allowed to continue the agreement at the new address. You need to start 3 years again or pay the whole remaining months. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND ADT.

When I lived at home with my mother we had the ADT system and never had a problem, no break-ins, and no potential break-ins either. Unfortunately, I did not follow suit and get the system when I moved out on my own and my apartment was burglarized this past year. I feel like if I would have had the system there is NO WAY my apartment would have been broken in to. These systems really do thwart robbers from entering.
ADT uses security equipment by Honeywell, GE, and ITI. Warranty only comes if you buy a Quality Service Plan (QSP). With QSP, there is no extra charge to replace or fix faulty equipment in the first 90 days after the installation. After that, you receive free replacement parts and repairs only if you continue to pay for the QSP. Plus, any service trip costs about $25 depending on your location.
I am very upset with my ADT experience and contract. Your sales rep Daehan ** gave me inadequate information regarding your ADT service and contract. I was very upfront and concerned about switching from SafeNet to ADT because I was planning on moving the following year. He ASSURED me that the move of equipment, install and monitoring fees would not incur additional charges! He also did NOT disclose that there was a 36 month contract or an early termination fee. If I was properly informed of incurring additional charges for my move, I would NOT have switched security companies as my contract with SafeNet was complete. In order for me to set up a new security monitoring system at my new place of residence, I received an estimate for $461.
Sensors: Most home security systems include motion sensors and door or window sensors. We suggest getting motion sensors for areas in your home that could be dangerous for children or pets (the garage, the sewing room, the laundry room, etc.). It’s also smart to get enough window sensors and door sensors to cover every possible entrance to your home.
While you can learn a lot by reading the ADT reviews on this site, you won’t have as much luck on the official ADT website. The security company is not very transparent about the pricing of the plans or equipment. For example, you are unable to see at a glance the price of motion detectors, additional control panels or carbon monoxide detectors. Potential customers should also be wary of what prices are shown. There are often additional fees that will raise the total bill when all is said and done.
i love the fact of having a security system for my family i dont like the fact i have to pay alot for things to be covered under the system every window door and camera is extra.i love having a keypad but the response is very slow i dont like having a gap if the alarm goes off to when they contact you they should be calling as soon as alarm goes off the customer service is great price is ok but they should offer better packages to secure house instead of everything extra
