I purchased an ADT home security plan through a door to door salesman. The setup and service were quick. Beside the home security update, I also get the camera doorbell and a motion sensor camera for my backyard. They both worked as expected until the last couple of months until I started to notice that the backyard camera no longer recorded and saved on the motion in the radius that is supposed to like it used to. It only saved when there is a bad (windy, storm, etc.) weather and "hit" the camera. A month or 2 later, the camera doorbell also stopped working even after I tried to reset it a few times. They quickly scheduled a tech guy to come out and tried to fix the issues. The doorbell working properly again, however, he wasn't able to fix the backyard motion sensor and wasn't sure on what could cause the issue.

As a retired law enforcement professional, former head of security for a major company, and now security consultant I have used ADT for over many years. Have there been some problems? Of course – complicated security systems always have some glitches. But the problems have been quickly and professionally resolved. ADT is a good company with a solid track record.
ADT is not an honest company. Worse company ever. Very bad customer service , useless and they toss you around from one vendor to the other!End result nothing we can do , just pay your bill and shut the hell up.I would never recommend this company to anyone and I will make sure my comments are showing on every social media .Bottom line, they don’t tell you that you are locked in a 3 year contract ,and if you relocate , they will renew your contract for a new 3 years term!What a rip -off.

I do not understand how ADT has such a high rating on this website when a simple Google search shows terrible ratings across the board. This is why I chose to write my review on this website. An ADT rep came to my house when I purchased it, and promised me personal service, and we talked about all the places that would be wired, and old equipment that would be replaced. We also agreed that the price would be comparable to what I was paying in my old home. Fast forward, I move from my old home, ADT makes me close out the old contract, start a new contract at a higher price. The tech shows up, the sales rep is nowhere to be found and doesn’t answer his phone, THEY DON’T WIRE ANYTHING ON THE SECOND FLOOR STATING IT WILL COST EXTRA FOR EVERY ADDITIONAL WINDOW. Within 48 hours of them leaving, an alarm they installed on one of the exterior doors malfunctions and they don’t fix it for 5 more days. All this for the BASIC coverage at $44/month. I can’t say anything about any of the other services, but the second my contract is done I will be moving to another provider as ADT is a terrible crooked company.

When I moved to Fuquay Varina, they kept calling and knocking on the door until I finally gave in and signed up. Since then - NOTHING - no contact or follow-up whatsoever - even when I've twice requested a new book to replace the one I was given. When I agreed to sign up, they were offering service for about $27.00 per month. When the installer visited, I was sick with a lupus flare that also affected my cognition. Turned out, they took advantage of an elderly, ill woman, charging me not 27 but 47 dollars per month. In addition, when I could think clearly again, I discovered I had signed for THREE years and not the one year the salesman had told me.
I have been with ADT since 2004. I work out of town and really like the peace of mind I get with ADT protecting my home. The only call I have had since 2004 was during a storm. It appeared that the storm set off the alarm. My only complaint is the monthly fees. There have been small increases in fees over the years, never more than one dollar. I received a letter that they are increasing the monthly fee by $3.00 next month. Are they upgrading my system? No. Has there been an increase in alarm activity on my system? No. I guess they need the increase to give an executive a pay raise. Well, they have raised their fees out of my house. I am now going to find another security firm that appreciates long term customers. Good bye ADT.

We had Adt and then after awhile shut it off. We recently made the decision to turn our services back on and they were amazing! The Adt crew came out to the house and updated our entire system, upgrading our keypad and walking each family member through their own pass code. They made sure we knew how to use their services to the best of our ability. We even got a remote!

Heads up -- if you use ADT monitoring services through your landline, if your landline is cut or goes down they are no longer able to monitor it. Use wireless / cell phone towers when you sign up!! I learned this the hardway, after a storm cut out our landline I thought I was still secure but I wasn't and lost a lot of belongings. I suppose it's time to upgrade from landlines anyways by now but I was still paying a cheaper monthly fee for it so I hadn't upgraded.

Beware of these cheaters (ADT). I used their service for 10+ years…their service has been declining day by day. They don’t care about existing customers. First you pay a lot for the equipment and then after one year warranty period, they charge you for any failure/visit.Also, Police doesn’t even respond to their calls in majority of California cities (don’t know about other states)Finally, I decided to switch to a ‘better’ option, and I called to cancel. First they tried to convince me to stay with ADT, and later when it didn’t work, they informed me it will take 30 days to disconnect my service (so they can charge another month of monitoring fee).What a ripoff !Keep a distance from them.


Worst service ever. Was told that I would be quoted one thing when I ended up having to spend much more. Have been trying to get reimbursed for over a month now. I canceled my account with ADT back in June, and it is now November and they are still sending me voicemails, invoices, and threatening to send me to the debt collection agency!! Every two weeks, I call ADT so that THEY can FINALLY cancel my account, and EVERY SINGLE time they apologize and assure me that the account has been closed and that I will no longer receive emails, invoices, and threats. BUT not even 48 hours later, I will still be receiving calls, voicemails, emails, and threats.
This company sucks! They insisted that I needed an ugrade to my monitoring to wireless. They sent out a rep that changed my system to wireless. Well the sensor in my bedroom kept signaling that there was break in. The police came out 3 times, where I was charged for 3 false alarms. I called ADT to complain, they said that I had to pay for the false alarms and show them proof of payment to be reimbursed. They sent out their tech, that fixed the problem and I mailed them proof of payment for the false alarms. We went around and aroud with them sayig theey had to investigate the problem! What?! Some claim that adding too many numbers is a bad idea because ADT will try to contact your entire list before calling the authorities if no obvious danger is present (i.e. a single upper-level window alarm going off as opposed to multiple sensors).

My husband and I recently had a security system and carbon monoxide monitoring system installed in our home in Radnor Township. We cannot speak more highly of the customer service we received from our technician, David, and how easily the entire process of receiving the install was. From the initial phone call to having David explain how to set the alarm, everything was conducted professionally and with the utmost attention paid to having us both understand the system. After many hours spent trying to contact the right people within ADT to solve this problem, one of the customer service supervisors provided me with a statement credit and indicated that the manager at the local ADT office advised me to purchase a particular type of garage door opener (at my own expense), which should then work with ADT equipment. When I attempted to directly contact this local office manager in order to determine the exact equipment model to purchase, I left three voicemails, none of which were returned. I exchanged an email with someone at ADT (corporate, presumably) about the frustrating situation, but when I inquired about HOW to get the local office manager to call me back, she also stopped responding (I tried sending the email twice). When I tried calling the customer service supervisor who originally gave me a statement credit and advised me about the local office manager’s recommendation, that call also went unreturned.
I am extremely disappointed with ADT billing department. I have had an account at my house for four years. I set one up for my dad's house last week. I told them several times this is not a replacement setup and that I need security at both homes. Come to find out they disconnected my service. They did not call me to see if they were correct in doing so, they just did it. One account is setup under my dad's name and the other under mine. I am just the person to call for emergencies and the one controlling the systems. ADT, how and why did you screw this up?

Security cameras don't act as a full home security system; the two are actually usually bought and used separately. You could go with the basic ADT plan for the alarm system and then add your own camera system (different brand) rather then paying the higher Pulse tier fee. This would be ideal for most people looking to both and still save money in your situation.
