November 6th 2018, I had the worst experience with a customer service manager who works for account management in Jacksonville, Florida. She was so nasty with me and spoke to me with so much attitude and no respect. She was not polite, nor did she mention her name when asked. I had to get her name from another representative the next day. I also asked her to read her notes so that she can familiarize herself with my situations and how many times I have been in contact with her department and she refused to do so. Porsha Fisher abruptly hung up on me out of frustration and also sent me a bill for over 1000$ out of frustration and threatened to send me to the debt collection agency.

Bad customer service. Be careful when you sign the contract with this company. It’s a bait, always overcharge. You want to cancel! No way! You will pay for the cancel fee. A lot money. I will tell to all my friends, my family friend and the world. Don’t trust and don’t use this company. I’m sure I will never stay with this company after my contract. Liar and cheaters!
I bought $2k+ of equipment after being told that the equipment was transferable to a new residence since I was installing it in a rental residence I did not own. It was explicitly explained that I was renting and would be moving within 3 years and was promised I could take all equipment with me to be installed in another home. When I moved I was informed that the equipment cannot be transferred but that a $500 moving credit is given, however the new home I was moving into had “a better system” and the $500 credit would cover the little bit of equipment I was missing to give me an “even better system” than I had in the previous home. New contract was signed based on this. No new equipment was installed – turns out the only existing equipment was a couple of door sensors and hard wired alarm pads, which were not used. There are no sensors on windows or 3 of the 5 doors. My last home had over ten window sensors and 5 door sensors as well as 2 alarm pads at entry doors. Now I have two doors protected and one alarm pad that can only be used in a room that is not a primary entry point and would require me to run across the house to disarm every time I enter my home. It is a 3 year contract that has to be paid in full so I am now paying for services for 3 years that cannot be used and were sold under completely false pretenses. The company refuses to deliver what was promised and continues to try to get me to buy more equipment to get what i already paid for. What’s more is that I had a 3 year contract in the previous home that they reassigned to another 3 year contract after having already fulfilled 2 years of the first contract – this is not what was explained to me, I was told the new contract was for the 1 year difference. I either have to cough up $800+ to cancel the contract or continue to pay for monitoring on equipment not installed.
ADT called me in February to tell me to put new batteries in. I told them that my alam system did not work and that I wanted to cancel the service. They said that if they could troubleshoot it from the telephone, would I keep the system? I said yes, but if they couldn't, I wanted to cancel. They could not troubleshoot it. They continued to bill me, I did not pay, since I had verbally cancelled. Yesterday, October, I got a call from their collection agency, Source Receivables Management. They were very rude. I called ADT today to complain. They have all the record of my calls and that I wanted to cancel, etc., but now they're telling me it had to be done in writing. They didn't tell me that then. It was the most recent technical problem that convinced me that using ADT was a big mistake. When we installed our system, we added a new feature to automate the garage doors (this was brand new and NOT using any of the old equipment left by the prior homeowners). After about 3 months, one of the garage doors went “offline” and couldn’t be reset. The technician that was sent out replaced the associated equipment, and iit started working again. A few weeks later, the second garage door went offline and couldn’t be reset. This time, the technician that was sent out informed me that my garage door opener brand is incompatible with ADT equipment and will continue to short circuit and burn out as a result. There was no recommended fix for this problem, and that ADT only learned of this issue about a year ago. However, this equipment had been installed only a 3 or 4 months prior, so I do not understand why ADT would have allowed this installation if they knew about this issue. Nobody has been able to explain why they moved forward with the installation, so my conclusion is that it resulted from ADT’s inability to communicate with their sales force and technicians (keep in mind that the technician that came out to service garage door #1 wasn’t aware of this situation, while the technician that serviced garage door #2 DID know).


When it comes to home security I'm a basic kind of guy. I just want it to know if someone breaks in my house so I can have my gun ready and protect my family. I use ADT, it seems the most logical and they have treated me great. I moved once with them which cost a little money but they installed the new Pulse system at my new place since I was due for an upgrade to cellular anyways. I don't do the cameras etc. but I do turn it on and off from my phone and that is easy with their ADT app.
I have only good things to report about ADT: the installation was smooth and the engineer who installed it was very knowledgeable and gave me good tips about overall security. I love the features on the wireless system and thankfully nothing has happened, but I am definitely feeling safer after the system was installed. I just feel better knowing that the company that is monitoring our security is a market leader.

We purchased our ADT Security System 12 years ago, and we have been very pleased with the professionalism and quick response in the few times we have had to use it. Their was a break-in in 2009 while we were out of town on vacation. They called us immediately and the people were caught running down our street thanks to the quick response from ADT and the Sheriff’s Department. Of course, our teenagers have set the alarm off a few times while we were at work, but ADT handled it for us and were completely understanding and professional! Agreed Nadia! For around $1 a day is a bargain to protect your family members and your possessions. Obviously an alarm system doesn't give you 100% confidence that a burglary won't take place but it minimizes the chances over 75% by having a monitored system. That is good to hear about your businesses and sounds like you will get a great deal on the 3rd set on your home. ADT also has the guarantees so if something does take place you have them and your insurance who are going to support you financially in recouping your lost costs.

I had ADT come in and have their system put in my home I had just purchased. It took 3 hours to install. They had a promotion going on with a free ring camera. But keep in mind. The home when I bought it had a security system already hard-wired into the home. Which was working. I just needed to have a security company come in and take over the system. The salesman told me they would piggy back my system. They did exactly what they said. 45 minutes after the installation was done. I tried to arm the system. It came up with multiple error codes. I called ADT and the salesman who set this up. He said the tech who installed it will call me back in 30 mins. This was a Saturday. Well no call.

I was renting a house in the countryside in North Carolina. The landlord contacted ADT to install a new alarm system in the house. The previous system was no longer covered by anyone. The install was quick and complete. The only problem being the hall motion detector which they said shouldn’t pick up the movement of a 30# elderly dog, but routinely did. They disabled that sensor and didn’t have any more issues. Whenever there was an issue, they were quick to respond via phone and on one occasion had the police meet me at the house when a true alarm came in.
All in all, it's hard to go wrong with the trusted blue and white. Competitors still lack the brand name and good reputation that ADT has built over the past century. Being able to move anywhere in the USA and not pay a cancellation fee is a big plus. Great equipment, and a company that still installs the security system, they are our top recommendation for the average of a homeowner.
ADT's latest rev of its software also supports its own Amazon Alexa skill. According to ADT, customers with an Alexa-enabled device, like an Amazon Echo, will be able to use it to arm and disarm their alarms and even access their smart devices using Alexa's voice recognition. However, this is not biometric voice security, meaning your individual voice pattern will not be enough to access the system; you'll still need to enter your alarm code or Pulse access pin number verbally.
Monitoring was fine, a few issues with some of the equipment and conflicting answers about how to fix it. But my biggest issue is cancelling services. It is a NIGHTMARE. I’ve called repeatedly, used their chat feature, faxed and emailed trying to cancel service. Yet somehow, they keep losing my request to cancel. They tell you it’s easy to cancel if you’re under military orders to move – just provide a copy of the orders they say. But the reality is that they’ll drag their feet and make you jump through hoops for weeks. Meanwhile, my house is selling, I can’t cancel service and I’m stuck paying for an alarm system on a house I will no longer own.

They will not stop their auto payment system and are overcharging us too. They will not stop their services until I respond to a email that came 1 week after my first call but I didn't see it before it expired. We are being charged more than contract price too. When I called again today, just like my first attempt, I was in hold for over 20 minutes. Again, I was told to expect an email and respond to it before they will cancel their auto pay. WHY SHOULDN'T THEY STOP THEIR SYSTEM? I told my wife that I guess we will have to close our bank account and move our money someplace else!
Remote Control: Instead of using the keypad to deactivate your alarm, some systems do come complete with a remote control.
