I’ve called ADT for service or explaination of certain items, can say that I was pleased with the rep or the reasoning for why the issue is what it is but I have to be opened minded to quidelines and policies of a structured company. We give the rep a hard time because we want stella service be “customer is always right” but we can be horrible consumers then the rep rebuttal is on the deffensive so we will not meet that common ground.
I have only good things to report about ADT: the installation was smooth and the engineer who installed it was very knowledgeable and gave me good tips about overall security. I love the features on the wireless system and thankfully nothing has happened, but I am definitely feeling safer after the system was installed. I just feel better knowing that the company that is monitoring our security is a market leader.

When the tech installed my service he installed the motion detector upside down. Yes, upside down. I didn’t even know I didn’t have service for the first two months because it was scanning my ceiling. I had to go online and look at diagrams to figure it out myself that it was facing the wrong direction! Then they had to send someone back out for them to install it correctly. Then 6 months later, the electric door panel they installed craps out. I call them, and they tell me I have to call the manufacturer to send the device and then call them so they can come install it. Basically, I had to reinstall it myself (took hours) or pay to have ADT install it again.

After doing quite a bit of research into home security systems I was referred to ADT. After speaking with a sales representative and being completely up front and honest on my end, the sales person completely lied about the equipment that would be provided, the cost of the monitoring service, AND even the offer of the referral and gifts cards with their deal.
We have had an ADT monitored security system in our home for more than 5 years now. We live in a relatively safe area, but I like being able to know that the house is safe when I am home alone with our young son or when we are out of town for a long weekend. The system itself is easy to activate and de-activate and we love turning the chime feature on to know whenever any door in the house is open. Some of the cons of using ADT are that if there is an issue with the system (a bad battery back up or weird beeping – which happened to us after a lengthy power outage) there can be a delay in getting a service technician to the house.

Temperature costs can add up, especially in winter and summer seasons, so it’s a good idea to turn off the heat or air conditioning when no one’s there to enjoy it. You can remotely adjust the Nest thermostat with the Pulse app. That way, when you’re leaving work or school, you can kick on your climate controls so the atmosphere is perfect by the time you get home.

Are the burglers smart enough to cut the TV cable? I use VOIP, which ADT can connect to, because I had them do that at a home I had in California. Having them use the cell chip is the smarter way. I thought because I had bad cell phone service my burglar alarm system would too but the technician taught me that they use a variety of cell tower signal strength (compared to just 1 that my phone uses) and there is never any outage. Cell monitoring is the way to go and most companies don't even offer land line service although ADT still will if you ask them too.

All ADT plans feature 24/7 security monitoring from multiple redundant call centers nationwide (which is key for that homeowners insurance discount), on-site consultation, installation by professional technicians, and 24/7 customer service. ADT makes a big deal out of that last one, considering it a competitive differentiator. Smaller monitored security vendors, like Frontpoint, may offer 24/7 monitoring, but its customer service is unavailable after a certain point in the evening. For issues like broken monitoring equipment, faulty alarms, and similar problems, having a human available around the clock can be a very good thing.
The camera's auto-record function is based on motion sensors tuned to ignore small animals. The cam will record a 30-second video clip, then pause for four minutes before it records again. Auto-recorded clips are stored in ADT's Pulse cloud and can be accessed via the Pulse app. The camera operates at 720p resolution and you can record either a manual video or a still snapshot using the Pulse mobile app. All video clips, your own or the ones the camera takes automatically, are stored in ADT's cloud for 30 days. If you want to download anything to save long-term, it's doable, but only using the ADT web portal, not the mobile app. All this functionality comes with your Pulse service contract, none of it costs extra. You can check out the night vision image quality in the screenshot below.

Over ten years service and I upgraded to their new Pulse system. Because I've been a customer for so long they didn't put up a fight when I wanted a whole new wireless system. I was able to get it and have a few camera's, key remotes and things we have been missing out on for the past few years. ADT is the clear winner in my books, I hear horror stories of other companies jumping up the rate, going out of service or having 5 year agreements. You don't have to worry about any of this with the ol' White and Blue.
I am not sure when ADT took a wicked turn, but this company plays slick games. Over the phone, I was quoted $27.99 for a monitoring fee. The phone rep told me that I wouldn't be charged until the tech came to my home and provided me with an assessment/consultation. So I provided her with my credit card number. After I hung up the phone with her, I received an alert of a charge for $105. She lied = Slick. They charge you this fee even before they come to your home. A few days later the tech arrived at the house and said that a $27.99 monitoring fee was not possible and he quoted me a monitoring fee of $52, plus tax. While I did not agree with this rate, I figured I would test the service out for a few days. But before I could totally make up my mind, the tech's assessment turned into him immediately installing the ADT keypad without asking. I literally left the room for a few seconds and he had already removed my old keypad system.
We have been ADT customers, since ADT took over Broadview/Brinks. Today March 27th 2014, we had our 15y old system upgraded. Our field technician and ADT employee named xxxxxxx gave us outstanding service today. He was professional and knowledgeable, patient with my questions. His answers were complete and at a level that I could understand. We have not always been as fortunate to have such a high level of service, with the company we had before ADT. It is a refreshing experience to encounter someone who is interested in good customer service and makes certain the job is completed correctly before he leaves. You need to “clone” this individual! He is an exceptional example of the type of employee that gives superior ROI to the company he works for.
"Have only had system for 2 weeks. Easy to use and effective. Only problem is when in "Away" mode the motion sensor picked up our 13 pound cat jumping up on a desk close by...THREE times! Needs sensitivity adjustment. Police, however, did come each time, so it does indeed work. Not sure why I needed a motion sensor if none of the door/window connections were broken???"

Home automation may not be something you’ve considered, but many home security providers offer it with higher-tier packages. Not everyone needs complete control over their lights, locks, and robovac, but home automation comes in handy if you travel frequently or desire complete convenience. Before choosing a home security package, think about your smart home needs and if this technology may be something you’ll want in the future.
So since the guy was already there i was friendly and greeted him but explained i had canceled and was no longer looking for security at the moment due to some issues. He stated he couldn't leave until his boss gave him permission. His boss(ADAM)  was very rude and told him to just leave the security system on my counter and to leave and that i wasn't receiving a refund  (YET I DIDN'T EVEN RECEIVE INSTALLATION NOR DID HE EVEN TAKE OUT THE SYSTEM OUT OF HIS CAR)  When i told him(Adam) My husband was on deployment and wasn't moving in until January ADAM kept pushing it on me after telling him NO several times. He states he already had a cancellation and couldn't receive another cancellation for the day. THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM. They instillation person was very nice but stayed at my house (inside) for 2 hours. I Had to speak to 4 different people just to cancel and have the tech person to leave.  It was the worst experience of customer service i have EVER experienced. ADT does not care about you only their money. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!!! SCAM
I have been an ADT client for a long time. At the point when my mom turned out to be sick and expected to remain home more often, I began to look into upgrading my system for one with video and ability for her to see who was at our door. After many research I found that plan require me to either include their TV products or services. Change I was not interested in making. So I upgrade with ADT, and our needs were met. My mother can choose whether or not she needs to her energy to answer the door.
I had someone enter my home when I was at work. ADT called me right away but the cops didn't show up in time. I called back to see what ADT recorded as to how quickly they called (to see if it was their fault or police) and they said they called dispatch after neither myself or my wife answered our phones. So regardless of how quick or slow ADT may be, it still is up to your local authorities to trust their word and come check out your house. A few things got shuffled around with but nothing of real value got stolen. Not fun knowing someone has been snooping around in our home and now I am adding some Pulse cameras to the system for better surveillance.
Their Pulse app control is what I like best. I'm sure there is better equipment out there but the app ties in nicely with everything. Can add multiple accounts, see a log history of when the alarm system was turned on and off and by who. Can take a peek at the cameras during work to ease my mind that nothing is going on at home that I should be aware of. Good deal for $55 a month, a lot better than getting with a local company like I've seen my neighbors do just to switch to ADT a few years later.
Chances are if you’re thinking of a friend or neighbor’s home security system, they probably have an ADT sign out front. ADT has been considered the industry standard for home security, and although some of their stuff might not be as flashy, the equipment is solid and the monitoring aspect receives good reviews with customers (although sales and installation customer service could use some love). Plus, you can always expand your system with home automation options.
ADT offers 24/7 professional monitoring of your home security system 365 days a year. Beyond its most basic equipment package and monitoring plan that look like the rigorous security systems of the latter part of the 20th century, ADT now also offers home automation through its app, ADT Pulse. This includes a control panel with Z-Wave compatibility, giving you the flexibility to add whatever smart home devices you’ve already got in play, from lights and locks to appliances.
