Updated on 11/21/2018: I wanted to follow up regarding the resolution to my situation. Turns out there is no resolution. I called, emailed and called again the CEO's office and they didn't can would not answer my questions. Hung up on me. Their so called Corporate Relations Manager, is a joke, she needs a back to basics training in customer service. They know they are wrong that is why they will not comment on my review. If you look at other 1 star reviews put on here after mine, you will see their response to say sorry to the customer, but mine? They won't even bother. They know I am telling the truth. Since they want to go ahead and blacklist me and remove services, that's fine. I will gladly take my money elsewhere; but they couldn't answer the one question I had for them that they are trying to use as their defense. Where does it say in the contract that they can cancel at any time and for any reason? Nowhere! Read the fine print.
5/2017 aunt moves to retirement home. Canceled monitoring service. Still in auto bill system, I sent back stating it was canceled. 1/2018 she passes. Received continuation of bill. Sent back previous cancellation note along with death certificate. In April 2018 someone at ADT actually recognizes that she is dead. I receive invoice for 83.00, no big deal I just pay it. THEN I get invoice for 250.00 with no explanation for what it is for, I ignore. Another one, I write back, another one in Oct. 2018 and I call. They say that they sent me a box for the equipment and I have to return it. I never got a box and their records indicate that an empty box was returned to sender. The box would have been the only indication to me that I needed to return any equipment. So 18 months later I have to see if someone kept the equipment from a 95 year old who lived in a nursing home? This is not the first issue with ADT. Please don't use them, it's a headache.
I’ve called ADT for service or explaination of certain items, can say that I was pleased with the rep or the reasoning for why the issue is what it is but I have to be opened minded to quidelines and policies of a structured company. We give the rep a hard time because we want stella service be “customer is always right” but we can be horrible consumers then the rep rebuttal is on the deffensive so we will not meet that common ground.

When I called and got ADT installed I was impressed that they stayed around to individually test each sensor for me and make sure I was good to go. I don't think I would have been able to do this on a self installation package that other companies offer. We tested that it was connected to their monitoring station and my local authorities -- a true peace of mind!
So now I am looking at escalating it even further if need be depending on results of letter. ADT security customer service has been helpful but management and their authorized installers are a joke. Their adt phone app is laggy and takes forever to connect. The funny thing is we have same setup with video at shop and have no issues. If you are looking for security system go elsewhere. I would have never took my time out to write this review but it seems shit just keep rolling down hill. As an end user when it comes time to renew our residence and shop we most likely will look at other services providers.
This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever received. I called in to order a security system through ADT after a break-in, and when I received my system, it was through Protection 1. The sales representative NOT ONCE disclosed to me that ADT Pulse and Protection 1 were the same company due to a merge. When I was signing my contract, I thought it was odd it said Protection 1, but the DISHONEST sales representative stated that I was just e-signing through that portal - as if it were just an e-sign software they were using instead of an actual DIFFERENT SYSTEM.
Once you own the equipment, you can move ADT home security monitoring to just about anywhere in the US and all you’ll have to do is pay a small activation fee (which you may even be able to get waived) to get it started up again. ADT also offers discounted equipment with its “Mover’s Guarantee,” so there’s no need to worry if you want the service but don’t plan on staying in the same spot.
The reason I got ADT was so that in case I needed to move out of state for my work (a possibility at the moment) I wouldn't have to pay a early termination fee for moving 'out of service area' as I've seen with other companies contracts. I believe I'll have to pay a $199 or so moving fee but that's better then cancelling and signing up with a new company once moved.
This unit is constantly losing connectivity with its connected sensors, even if it's right next to them (I moved them all to be together for several days to test this). In addition to the complete loss of being able to know when there's O2/Fire, the hub only notifies you of a loss in connection at around 2 am the next morning, regardless of when it lost the connection. This is a super annoying series of beeps that continues until you get out of bed, put in your code, and tap through all the menus to tell the hub to "ignore the problem." No matter how many times you do this, this exercise is repeated several nights a week. You also cannot change the time or date on the device unless you have an ADT professional install it (what??). I finally sent it back and got the combination Samsung Smart Things hub and Nest solution which was way less expensive, way easier to set up, way nicer-looking and is way more reliable.

November 6th 2018, I had the worst experience with a customer service manager who works for account management in Jacksonville, Florida. She was so nasty with me and spoke to me with so much attitude and no respect. She was not polite, nor did she mention her name when asked. I had to get her name from another representative the next day. I also asked her to read her notes so that she can familiarize herself with my situations and how many times I have been in contact with her department and she refused to do so. Porsha Fisher abruptly hung up on me out of frustration and also sent me a bill for over 1000$ out of frustration and threatened to send me to the debt collection agency.
I had a representative from one of ADT's subcontracted sales companies come to my house last year in August. He gave us a whole spiel about how if he could put a sign in our yard we could get a security system for free. My husband and I both specifically asked him how long the contract was for for the monitoring monthly fee and were told that it was 1 year. We specifically asked what it would cost it us to cancel after a year and he told us it wouldn't cost us anything. He told us that when a year was up we should call and tell them we were going to switch companies and they would lower our monthly payment or we could just stop it anytime after a year.

There is a reason why this company has a 1 star rating...avoid them like the plague. They are a high pressure sales company who abuse the elders.  My mother sign a contract with them in 2011.  ADT wants the elder to believe they still have a "verbal" contract and they keep billing them despite the system not working for two years.  They wanted to charge her another $400 to "repair" their system and they also unilaterally increased the price of the service.  When we tried to cancel, they apply high pressure tactics to try to retain claiming there was a "verbal" contract...there was not...and they had a host of high pressure questions...this is a dirty company and stay away!

He is slow and dumpy and from the beginning he acted like he did not want to be there. The job was really quite simple, simply install 2 cameras. I wanted to discuss the plans for installation but as we discussed the job, Mr. Lee got really impatient and rude. Soon he SNAPPED and Mr Lee WALKED OFF THE JOB!!! on the way out the door Mr Lee told me to "SHUT UP!" Really! I could not believe it. Mr. Lee wasted another hour on the phone in his truck and then drove all the way back to the East Bay.
I bought $2k+ of equipment after being told that the equipment was transferable to a new residence since I was installing it in a rental residence I did not own. It was explicitly explained that I was renting and would be moving within 3 years and was promised I could take all equipment with me to be installed in another home. When I moved I was informed that the equipment cannot be transferred but that a $500 moving credit is given, however the new home I was moving into had “a better system” and the $500 credit would cover the little bit of equipment I was missing to give me an “even better system” than I had in the previous home. New contract was signed based on this. No new equipment was installed – turns out the only existing equipment was a couple of door sensors and hard wired alarm pads, which were not used. There are no sensors on windows or 3 of the 5 doors. My last home had over ten window sensors and 5 door sensors as well as 2 alarm pads at entry doors. Now I have two doors protected and one alarm pad that can only be used in a room that is not a primary entry point and would require me to run across the house to disarm every time I enter my home. It is a 3 year contract that has to be paid in full so I am now paying for services for 3 years that cannot be used and were sold under completely false pretenses. The company refuses to deliver what was promised and continues to try to get me to buy more equipment to get what i already paid for. What’s more is that I had a 3 year contract in the previous home that they reassigned to another 3 year contract after having already fulfilled 2 years of the first contract – this is not what was explained to me, I was told the new contract was for the 1 year difference. I either have to cough up $800+ to cancel the contract or continue to pay for monitoring on equipment not installed.
Magnetic door/window sensors are made up of two small magnetic pieces; one is mounted to the top of the door or window frame, while the second is placed directly on the door or window. Vanishing sensors can be placed inside the door/window and inside the frame so no one knows they are there. The two sensor pieces are in contact with each other while the door/window is closed. When they are opened, the sensors separate and an alarm is triggered.
