All in all, I'd have to say that this is a decent setup. It's a basic security system that is easy to install and that my wife can easily operate. There are a few quirks that I'm not clear as to whether they are solvable or not, but these don't appear to impact functionality. It performs the basic tasks that it's supposed to perform in an apparently reliable manner, so far.
1 week ago I agreed on the price I would pay monthly for the alarm service with ADT. The installer came today and the prices of what we had talked on the phone were very, very different, but the surprise was that when the installer came to my house she began to uninstall the existing alarm system and after all that she tells me that the price was different from the one I had agreed on by phone so therefore I canceled the service and had the old alarm system reconnected

I mean what do you want from them? Ask yourselfs what do you do for a living? Ill give you a little food for thought( your a bartender/ owner you are running a special for miller light draft at 1 dollar a glass. I come in and say I want jack and coke. You charge me 5 dollars and I complain, scream whatever that it say’s 1 dollar.) Are you F*ing kidding me? READ the advertisment!
Heads up -- if you use ADT monitoring services through your landline, if your landline is cut or goes down they are no longer able to monitor it. Use wireless / cell phone towers when you sign up!! I learned this the hardway, after a storm cut out our landline I thought I was still secure but I wasn't and lost a lot of belongings. I suppose it's time to upgrade from landlines anyways by now but I was still paying a cheaper monthly fee for it so I hadn't upgraded.

Worst business i have ever dealt with. From the start, i was lied to by the installation guy who said there is a grace period of a month to cancel the contact without a termination fee. When i called in a week later to cancel, ADT advised it was an incorrrect information which was given by an outsourced contractor so they can not be responsible for it. So i was stuck with them for two years. When i called to cancel the account after the two year contract was over, ADT required 30days cancelltaion period which meant they will simply collect a payment for an extra month for just wanting to cancel their ridiculous service which i want no part of ever again. From start to finish, this company is a borderline fraud.


Obviously I am not alone with my red flag warning yelp review. ADT is the most known, that is why I was hellbent in getting them, but I wish I read all the reviews before. I accidentally tried to sign up with a 3rd party  Protecters or Defenders, the "authorized ADT salespeople", are the sleaziest, pushy salespeople that took me hostage, almost threatening me that if I didn't sign up immediately, I couldn't ever go back to ADT. But because I did sign up with them, I could not sign up with a REAL ADT salesperson, that completely contradicted everything the ADT authorized salesperson said. An ADT salesperson said they always get complaints on the 3rd parties, because of the bait and switch, and yet you can NEVER get a REAL ADT person to quote you without taking your blood type and personal information and credit card. So I called their competitors and ALL of them were a better experience, you feel you can trust them and they want to do a good job, not just get your credit card and sign you up for a hostage contract. Although I canceled with the 3rd party, I still couldn't go with ADT, which was a blessing because I found ACS security which is far far far better, not pushy, quoted me everything, and they work directly with ASC. Don't ever go with ADT, read all the reviews. Maybe ADT will improve if they read their reviews on them. Shame on them.


Security camera service with ADT requires Pulse Video Service monitoring, which is a premium-level plan, so you'll have to pay one of the top prices to get a camera. The outdoor camera has a night-vision range of 25 feet, which is one of the lowest in our review. We could find no mention of pan-and-tilt cameras or image sensors in the ADT marketing literature. These are some of the best home monitoring camera options, because you can control pan-and-tilt cameras remotely to get better viewing angles, and image sensors take photos when they detect movement.
In regard to ADT customer service, the BBB rating varies by area. For example, Florida headquarters provide excellent customer service and maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. This is mainly because ADT relies on company authorized independent dealers whose customer support agents might not be up to par with ADT’s standards. Remember to check locally and read reviews before committing to a provider. Also, look for a dealer that is BBB accredited.
i love the fact of having a security system for my family i dont like the fact i have to pay alot for things to be covered under the system every window door and camera is extra.i love having a keypad but the response is very slow i dont like having a gap if the alarm goes off to when they contact you they should be calling as soon as alarm goes off the customer service is great price is ok but they should offer better packages to secure house instead of everything extra

There are some disadvantages to these, however, including the inability to see if your alarm is activated (adding to the risk of you tripping the system), and if the remote is stolen, it provides thieves with an easy way of deactivating your alarm.

I love the pricing and information you've given on this company, but I'm a little worried about not getting new equipment after 3 years. I don't want to have to fight for new things every time my contract comes up. Does making a 'threat' to leave the company really work? I'd hate to change companies every three years to get new equipment. I'd love to hear what other customers have done. Thanks.
I have been an ADT customer for 15 years and 2 weeks ago I found out my alarm was not communicating with them so I called for repair. They told me nothing was available for 2 weeks so I set a date and was told someone had to be home from noon until 5PM. Appointment day at 4:14PM I call them and ask where the tech is. They have no clue and tell me they will reschedule for another 2 weeks out. I tell them to cancel my service and then they tell me I WILL OWE THEM FOR 30 MORE DAYS OF MONITORING after shut off. It doesn’t work – they fail to honor the appointment they set up and they want me to pay for 30 more days? Of course there is no supervisor available to talk to me but they could have one call me back in 24 to 48 hours. What an unethical unresponsive company. Never do business with them.
ADT security cameras offer an added benefit to your ADT home security package. Although not available on most of their contract plan, ADT security cameras can be installed on the ADT pulse video contract.  You can expect around $49+/month for monitoring services.   They also have promotions going on and can get a connected home security system with it for low cost.
I purchased an ADT home security plan through a door to door salesman. The setup and service were quick. Beside the home security update, I also get the camera doorbell and a motion sensor camera for my backyard. They both worked as expected until the last couple of months until I started to notice that the backyard camera no longer recorded and saved on the motion in the radius that is supposed to like it used to. It only saved when there is a bad (windy, storm, etc.) weather and "hit" the camera. A month or 2 later, the camera doorbell also stopped working even after I tried to reset it a few times. They quickly scheduled a tech guy to come out and tried to fix the issues. The doorbell working properly again, however, he wasn't able to fix the backyard motion sensor and wasn't sure on what could cause the issue.
Even though ADT offers home automation, it’s only included with the Premium Protection with Pulse package. This can be frustrating since home automation is a major selling point for most home security providers. The Premium Protection with Pulse package’s starting price is also pretty costly. And, on top of the monthly rate, you’ll have to purchase smart devices like locks, cameras and lights separately.
I had a representative from one of ADT's subcontracted sales companies come to my house last year in August. He gave us a whole spiel about how if he could put a sign in our yard we could get a security system for free. My husband and I both specifically asked him how long the contract was for for the monitoring monthly fee and were told that it was 1 year. We specifically asked what it would cost it us to cancel after a year and he told us it wouldn't cost us anything. He told us that when a year was up we should call and tell them we were going to switch companies and they would lower our monthly payment or we could just stop it anytime after a year.

I didn't install anything on my garage door as it's essentially a large storage unit right now so I simply want to keep it locked. It's important to note that if I had wanted ADT to automate it, the company wouldn't have installed a new garage door opener, but just a Z-Wave controller that would allow me to remotely operate the opener using Pulse. This is a similar procedure for how ADT will automate your home's other appliances, should you opt for it. What's nice is that aside from remote operation, you can schedule events with most automated devices and appliances, so your home can literally perform basic tasks, like turning the heat up and down for your departure and return after a trip, letting the cleaning crew in Tuesdays at noon if you're away, and turning the front porch light on just before you get home from work every night.
He is slow and dumpy and from the beginning he acted like he did not want to be there. The job was really quite simple, simply install 2 cameras. I wanted to discuss the plans for installation but as we discussed the job, Mr. Lee got really impatient and rude. Soon he SNAPPED and Mr Lee WALKED OFF THE JOB!!! on the way out the door Mr Lee told me to "SHUT UP!" Really! I could not believe it. Mr. Lee wasted another hour on the phone in his truck and then drove all the way back to the East Bay.

Don’t expect to get a firm cost for service and equipment from a web chat. Without seeing your property, a sales agent can only estimate. Your home will specifically need to be evaluated by an ADT installer—which is free. Some may view it as an upselling scheme to get you to buy more stuff you don’t need, but we’re actually grateful that they provide someone who can point out weak spots in our home we might not have thought of. Plus, you can always say no to additional sensors you don’t want then.
A good review post! I have been in this industry for many years and along with using many different companies so far (both at home and work) I've come back around to ADT. It's a long story but I got hosed when my small boutique moved and I was using a local security company that was charging me an arm and a leg to move and upgrade so I went back to ADT pulse after paying their cancellation fee and I'm able to use it at both my Home and Business with a discount too.

My family has been using ADT while I was growing up (guess you could say I was born and bread white and blue) so I ended up following in their footsteps and got it for my own home whether that was the best deal or not I don't know. Installation process was quick, the guy really wasn't here for too long at all. The "smart" option is a bit confusing and I wish it was explained a bit better, but in time I'll figure it out. I can truly say they are one of the better security systems out there.
One of the best ways to determine whether a company is going to be right for you or not is to speak to previous clients. Ask for some references and speak to these people about their experiences with the company – was everything completed on time and to a high standard? Are the police contacted straight away if there’s an intrusion? Have they come across any problems during their time with the company? You might also be able to find out this information (unbiased) through online reviews.

My husband and I recently had a security system and carbon monoxide monitoring system installed in our home in Radnor Township. We cannot speak more highly of the customer service we received from our technician, David, and how easily the entire process of receiving the install was. From the initial phone call to having David explain how to set the alarm, everything was conducted professionally and with the utmost attention paid to having us both understand the system. Hello V. We apologize for any confusion regarding your service agreement. Your contract with ADT mandates a $25 trip charge when a technician visits your home, no matter the reason. The notes from your last technician visit indicate that there is an issue with the WiFi range, not upload/download speed. ADT has the first thought name for security, but, worst to deal with. The sales tactics and the service performance is substandard. Pressuring to sign the contract…they will not let you review the it and its terms, only point to sign here. Pricing higher than anyone. The sales person kept calling me although I said not to. I suggest to never use them!!!

I have been an ADT client for a long time. At the point when my mom turned out to be sick and expected to remain home more often, I began to look into upgrading my system for one with video and ability for her to see who was at our door. After many research I found that plan require me to either include their TV products or services. Change I was not interested in making. So I upgrade with ADT, and our needs were met. My mother can choose whether or not she needs to her energy to answer the door.

Sensors: Most home security systems include motion sensors and door or window sensors. We suggest getting motion sensors for areas in your home that could be dangerous for children or pets (the garage, the sewing room, the laundry room, etc.).
