All ADT plans feature 24/7 security monitoring from multiple redundant call centers nationwide (which is key for that homeowners insurance discount), on-site consultation, installation by professional technicians, and 24/7 customer service. ADT makes a big deal out of that last one, considering it a competitive differentiator. Smaller monitored security vendors, like Frontpoint, may offer 24/7 monitoring, but its customer service is unavailable after a certain point in the evening. For issues like broken monitoring equipment, faulty alarms, and similar problems, having a human available around the clock can be a very good thing.
ADT has one advantage over every other home surveillance camera system in our review: It offers unlimited cloud video storage as part of its security camera services, whereas the industry average is less than 1GB. You can keep as much security footage as you like, for as long as you like. ADT offers four security camera options that we confirmed based on documentation in the support section of the company's website. These cameras come in indoor and outdoor options.
Overall, only 32% of ADT employees reporting on Glassdoor would recommend working at ADT to a friend. Sale reps often complain about pay (100% commission based) and a scarcity of leads Happy employees, however, applaud ADT benefits, like a 401(k) match; medical, dental and vision coverage; and, as a New York emergency dispatch operator said, “an awesome break room with tea, coffee and cocoa.”

First and foremost I’d like to say My Family is SAFE!I have been a member of the ADT FAMILY for several years as a happy customer.Having two security systems on at different locations (2- homes) my homes are safe.As for the service and technician installer everything was explained very professional. All items explained and my choice of upgrading is my call, installation was fairly fast but speed isn’t what I’m looking for, it’s meticulous and perfection as to where and how the equipment is installed. And my installer did a very good job not only with equipment but explaining to my wife and I on how to use all upgrades .On a scale 1thru 10 and 10 being the best…….. My rating is 10+And this is why Im a customer and have full trust with ADT and most important! My family feel safe at night or anytime I leave on business trip.

They show up the next day, and I ask a perfectly valid question about after my contract ends, and I stop being monitored by ADT, can I add additional sensors?  The answer? Sure! At $150 a piece plus the install cost for what was monitored equipment, but no longer will be.  I argued with them for a minute and they got defensive and condescending.  Fifth problem I dropped it, but they continued to beat a dead horse.  Finally, I asked them to leave and take their equipment with them.  They looked at me like I was crazy.  Maybe so, but I had had enough of them taking 6-7 hours to install a few plastic pieces around my house and answering personal phone calls and trying to get my dog to like them.  The last two are sort of petty, I know, but they were the icing on the cake for me.
Wifi is the basic connect for everything in this modern age. Desktop computers and laptops were started using it to connect to the internet. Then, Kindles, tablets, and smartphones got in on this source of connection for the internet. Now, home security systems are getting in on the wifi connection. Protect America sat down and took a look of the five top picks for wifi home security for 2018. This time, they decided to look at the cameras that use wifi for connectivity. They looked through Tom’s Guide and PC Mag to come up with this list. Why go for a wifi security camera? Tom’s Guide offers an explanation:
Wireless security cameras: These security cameras are perfect for both outdoor and indoor use. They possess great night vision with infrared and is Wi-Fi enabled. They make use of WPA2 Wi-Fi encryption hence providing for secure transmission of your video feeds. They record videos to the cloud which is remotely accessible from any internet available areas. Dome shaped security cameras.
With a $49.99 per month Pulse package, you get all the basic home security coverage you need. You also get to control your system with a tablet, smartphone, or via a web portal. With the ability to remotely arm/disarm your system, set up email and text alerts, and create rules, ADT Pulse makes life easier. So, in short, is ADT Pulse worth the extra monthly fee? Yes, it’s worth it.
Other things to consider when building out your DIY system include placement of the hub and any security cameras. The main hub usually requires a wired connection to your router, although there are wireless systems out here. Either way, it should be in close proximity to your router for optimal connectivity. If you're installing a system with a touch-screen panel, make sure there's a power outlet nearby. Most indoor and outdoor security cameras run on AC power and will require access to a wall outlet. While this isn't much of an issue with indoor cameras, outdoor camera placement will largely depend on accessibility to a power supply. If you don't have a GFCI outlet nearby, you'll have to install one or be prepared to drill a hole in your house to snake a power cable through to an indoor outlet.

Pulse also works with Amazon Alexa (Echo, Dot, Plus, etc.) and Google Assistant devices (Home, Max, Mini, etc.). Expanding on voice control, both assistants let you command your Pulse system using your voice. You can arm and disarm your system as well as control your connected smart devices. As disarming a security system with your voice can possibly be a security risk, ADT has safe-proofed this feature by requiring a verbal four-digit pin.
If for any reason you’re unhappy, you’ll get a full, hassle-free refund* on installation and monitoring. *Subject to certain restrictions If during the six months following installation ADT is unable to resolve any installation/service-related concern, you may receive a refund of the installation price and all monitoring fees you paid within the first six months. Certain restrictions apply.

Frontpoint’s commitment to customer satisfaction was clear at every stage, starting with our initial phone call. We were impressed with the sales rep’s attention to detail. She asked our tester to describe the layout of each room in her home, listened to her safety concerns, and answered questions about all kinds of package options. When our tester told her she needed more time to shop around, the rep was understanding and didn’t press the issue.

ADT’s service is made of up equipment backed by monitoring. Their equipment is primarily made by Honeywell and DSC, two of the largest home security equipment manufacturers. The base of the system is the control panel; ADT typically uses the DCS PC 1500RK keypad or a PC 1500. The control panel communicates with sensors which are organized into zones and can protect different areas of your home. They offer PIR motion detectors, smoke detectors, heat sensors, glass break detectors, external sirens, indoor sounders, home security cameras, reed switches, and more. One of the most convenient devices is the key fob, which allows you to arm and disarm your home security system with the click of a button. The High-Decibel Alarm Siren is also worth mentioning; it signals not only threats from intruders but also fire and carbon monoxide.
The worst service! I just moved in to my home not even 2 months and my home was broken into, I was told one thing when I purchased services and when Safe Haven their contract dealers came, it was something totally different. The burglar came through the windows cause no motion sensor where there, and the screen was broken to the main box! When the tech came out he told me I was not covered and I had to pay 400 dollars up front or buy 1100 dollars worth of equipment in order to protect my home that I pay them every month to monitor. Buyers please be aware! YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED BY THIS OVER PRICED SCAM COMPANY!!! DO NOT PURCHASE YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING YOUR OWN SECURITY SYSTEM
The rate of burglary and other related crimes is on a steady increase. The need to keep the home front safe and protected has never been more important. ADT Monitoring, a professional home security outfit that offers a one stop solution to all home security needs fully compatible with home automation.  ADT security cameras afford you the chance to have video monitoring of your home even while at work right from your internet enabled device.

The camera's auto-record function is based on motion sensors tuned to ignore small animals. The cam will record a 30-second video clip, then pause for four minutes before it records again. Auto-recorded clips are stored in ADT's Pulse cloud and can be accessed via the Pulse app. The camera operates at 720p resolution and you can record either a manual video or a still snapshot using the Pulse mobile app. All video clips, your own or the ones the camera takes automatically, are stored in ADT's cloud for 30 days. If you want to download anything to save long-term, it's doable, but only using the ADT web portal, not the mobile app. All this functionality comes with your Pulse service contract, none of it costs extra. You can check out the night vision image quality in the screenshot below.
ADT is one of the most trusted home security companies in the U.S., with over 140 years of experience. Its home security systems can be monitored via the app, and are fully customizable, featuring a variety of different options besides burglary protection, such as flood detection, and smoke and heat sensors. ADT Monitored systems can be controlled remotely via the ADT Pulse (R) app.

ADT-Monitored Home Security Services is the longest-established security company on our review site. It was over 140 years ago when American District Telegraph pioneered in sending security alerts by Morse code. Today ADT serves both homes and businesses looking for top-notch security systems and alarm monitoring. Systems monitored by ADT use hardwired and wireless equipment to detect invasions and automate homes for energy-saving and convenience.

The agent lied to me when I specifically asked upfront about termination policies. She said I could cancel the policy anytime and didn’t reveal termination fee. They can lie anything to rip a big chunk of money off you. Each time you call customer service or loyalty department, you get different answers and they never get back to you when you leave a message. I have had many services as I frequently move to different states, this is the worst available out there.
Worst service ever. Was told that I would be quoted one thing when I ended up having to spend much more. Have been trying to get reimbursed for over a month now. Also spoke with someone on the phone and I expressed my frustrations and they literally laughed at me. I will never go with this company again. After my contract is up we will be done.Read More
It was the most recent technical problem that convinced me that using ADT was a big mistake. When we installed our system, we added a new feature to automate the garage doors (this was brand new and NOT using any of the old equipment left by the prior homeowners). After about 3 months, one of the garage doors went “offline” and couldn’t be reset. The technician that was sent out replaced the associated equipment, and iit started working again. A few weeks later, the second garage door went offline and couldn’t be reset. This time, the technician that was sent out informed me that my garage door opener brand is incompatible with ADT equipment and will continue to short circuit and burn out as a result. There was no recommended fix for this problem, and that ADT only learned of this issue about a year ago. However, this equipment had been installed only a 3 or 4 months prior, so I do not understand why ADT would have allowed this installation if they knew about this issue. Nobody has been able to explain why they moved forward with the installation, so my conclusion is that it resulted from ADT’s inability to communicate with their sales force and technicians (keep in mind that the technician that came out to service garage door #1 wasn’t aware of this situation, while the technician that serviced garage door #2 DID know).

“They are always there when you need them which is what I like the most. Highly recommend ADT to all my family and friends. Even when you call with stupid questions they are there for you. The system is that sensitive that it realized something was wrong regarding the heating and a/c and sensed the burnt out panel long before we would have. Thanks.” – David, October 6, 2017, Consumer Affairs

When we moved to this non-urban area eleven years ago, we felt we needed a security system which we hadn’t felt we needed before as our previous city home was a large, fortress-like house with iron gates. We didn’t even shop for a security provider as ADT has such a wonderful reputation. We have always felt secure with our alarm system and appreciate the ease of being a customer of ADT. Great service with no hassles.

ADT offers 24/7 professional monitoring of your home security system 365 days a year. Beyond its most basic equipment package and monitoring plan that look like the rigorous security systems of the latter part of the 20th century, ADT now also offers home automation through its app, ADT Pulse. This includes a control panel with Z-Wave compatibility, giving you the flexibility to add whatever smart home devices you’ve already got in play, from lights and locks to appliances.
