Customers must sign a 24 or 36-month contract depending on their location. However, ADT also offers a 6-month money back guarantee. If during the six months following your installation ADT can’t resolve any service or installation-related concerns, you can return your equipment and receive a refund from ADT for the installation fee and any monitoring expenses paid within six months. As always, certain restrictions apply.
They sit at the top of the table for a reason. Besides the legacy, their quality is unmatched by any competitor by far. I have tried numerous security systems in the past from rival companies but kept coming back to ADT and now have finally settled with them. The main pro of them is the nationwide reach and exceptional service at any point of time in the day or night. Big kudos!
Like many other entry sensors in the kits on this list, these little devices are made up of two pieces connected by a magnet. Attach the alarm to your window or door (one piece on the door, one on the frame) and when an intruder opens it, the magnetic connection separates and triggers a 100dB alarm. Reviewers love this product for its easy installation and budget-friendly price tag.
Are you considering an ADT security system but are curious how they stack up against other security providers? Additionally, devices that connect via Wi-Fi, such as security cameras and smart door locks, can be hacked to gain access to your home network. A skilled hacker can then use your Wi-Fi devices and other network resources to carry out Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against larger networks. Perhaps even more disturbing is the idea of some stranger monitoring video from your indoor and outdoor security cameras.
If for any reason you’re unhappy, you’ll get a full, hassle-free refund* on installation and monitoring. *Subject to certain restrictions If during the six months following installation ADT is unable to resolve any installation/service-related concern, you may receive a refund of the installation price and all monitoring fees you paid within the first six months. Certain restrictions apply.
Worst experience ever. Unreliable and irresponsible service. Even for urgent matters you have to wait on line for at least 30 minutes. And because ADT Canada was not able to pick up my phone call within a few minutes as stated clearly to me the police was dispatched. When you tried to explain no one at ADT cares to take any responsibility. I have been with ADT for almost 10 years and they will not consider your loyalty if something goes wrong. I decided to leave this company. Even your alarm goes off now you will be asked to press 1 then 2 then ……. and wait forever. Think twice if you want professional and timely service.
We had an ADT alarm system installed yesterday. The gentleman who installed it was very nice. I felt in no way pressured to buy more equipment. He gave me his suggestions as to what he recommended, and then ended his suggestions with “It is your home, you have the final decision.” He was very professional, took off his shoes upon entering my home, and did a very good job. He even waited until my husband got home from work to explain the system to him. I am very pleased with everything I have experienced so far and hope to stay that way.
If This Then That or IFTTT for short, is a service that allows you to connect other services and applications together (using what IFTTT calls “applets”), letting you accomplish almost any task imaginable. For instance, you can use IFTTT to automatically cut off your phone’s WiFi when you leave home to save power. Just remember that if you use IFTTT to automatically disarm your system when you enter your home, your phone’s location service must be powered on. Otherwise you’ll get a loud surprise.
There are a few things you should do when an ADT tech gets to your house so I am passing these tips onto everyone that reads this. First make sure you get all the signs and decals you want. Putting stickers on the back doors and windows where burglars typically come through could be a life saver. Also, make sure they walk you through how to run the Pulse app on your phone. It's really easy but I was confused on my account login information and they helped out there. Lastly, make sure to write down your verbal password (to verify false alarms) and let your whole family know. So far their security system has been what we needed!
ADT called me in February to tell me to put new batteries in. I told them that my alam system did not work and that I wanted to cancel the service. They said that if they could troubleshoot it from the telephone, would I keep the system? I said yes, but if they couldn't, I wanted to cancel. They could not troubleshoot it. They continued to bill me, I did not pay, since I had verbally cancelled. Yesterday, October, I got a call from their collection agency, Source Receivables Management. They were very rude. I called ADT today to complain. They have all the record of my calls and that I wanted to cancel, etc., but now they're telling me it had to be done in writing. They didn't tell me that then. They strongarmmed me into paying the money or were going to have it affect my credit. Very deceptive and very rude!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!!!Read More
I bought a house back in 2015 and decided to have a security system installed since I wasn’t going to be home much and would like some peace of mind. ADT was a pretty well known security company in my area and a few families in my neighborhood have ADT so I gave them a call. I ended up selling the house after a year and a half since I travel too much for work. I called to cancel my service to be told that I signed a three year contract and that I’d have to pay the remainder of the contract or I wouldn’t be able to cancel. I told them that I did not sign a contract and I was not made aware of there being a contract. The contract that I supposedly signed was emailed to me and the “signature” on the contract was nowhere close to mine. I was told to fill out a fraud package, to which I did. I filled out and sent in a fraud package only for the fraud department to say that my signature was “confirmed” and that it was me who sign it. How could I have sign a contract I was never informed about or seen? The only form I signed was the installment agreement and nowhere did it say I have to have the service for three years.
ADT doesn’t have the strongest customer service reputation among the companies we considered, racking up more than 3,000 complaints on its Better Business Bureau page. While we chalked most of this up to the fact that ADT has several million more customers than its competitors, our tester began his call with low expectations. He was pleasantly surprised, saying, “My needs drove the conversation. And once I finally had the quote, he explained the purpose behind each device I was receiving and what the installation might entail. He took extra time to help me weigh whether I needed home automation or not — and I’m almost positive it wasn’t scripted.”
I loved have the security of the ADT system. We had it in our old home before we moved! I was very secure when we were in the house and had the alarm on. I was comfortable leaving our home with the system armed and felt my home and household contents were safe. We had the system for more than 10 years and had no problems. A few battery replacements was all. They called every time we had a false alarm, which was usually our error. I loved the feature of the disarming the system but entering a trouble code. That made me feel extra secure. ADT kept my family safe and our house secure.
** Information used for home security alarm system comparisons was obtained November 2016 through telephone and online research. ADT prices: based on total out-of-pocket expense to obtain services; installation based on fees for similar home security equipment packages; "Monitoring" price listed includes the additional "warranty" or "extended service plan".
Not specifically to do with the cameras, more the system it is attached to, but generally speaking you are only able to record a single 30s clip every 5 minutes. That’s a game-changer and should be enough to avoid ADT completely. I have a little “trick” in place which will allow me to record 1:30 (3 contiguous 30s clips) after motion is detected which is messy, but better that 30s.
Emergency sensors are an added layer of security most people don't always think about. Flood sensors will help to detect and notify you of any moisture in your home caused by flooding, burst pipes, or any other water-related emergency. These sensors should be installed in leak-prone areas of the home, like behind the water heater or under sinks. Carbon monoxide detectors will help alert you when high levels of CO are detected in your home, and smoke sensors detect smoke and spikes in temperature.
