November 6th 2018, I had the worst experience with a customer service manager who works for account management in Jacksonville, Florida. She was so nasty with me and spoke to me with so much attitude and no respect. She was not polite, nor did she mention her name when asked. I had to get her name from another representative the next day. I also asked her to read her notes so that she can familiarize herself with my situations and how many times I have been in contact with her department and she refused to do so. Porsha F abruptly hung up on me out of frustration and also sent me a bill for over 1000$ out of frustration and threatened to send me to the debt collection agency.

My father, age 75, contacted ADT to switch to their service based on an advertised offer. He explained to the customer service representative he had Vonage for his phone service. The customer service rep. said she was not sure if the system could be installed without a landline. She scheduled the appointment and told my father to ask the technician. I seems odd that the customer service representative could not speak to my father’s situation, since it is not uncommon. As directed,my father asked the technician about installing the service with Vonage. He further explained the package he was expecting to be installed. The technician stated “I got you”. The technician then proceeded to install a thousand dollar system. When my father would not agree to the monthly payment, the technician got his supervisor on the phone to apply more pressure. When my father would not agree to pay the monthly fees associated with the system installed, the supervisor directed the technician to take the system out. The technician removed the ADT equipment but refused to reconnect my father’s existing equipment. Now my father has to pay for a service call and reinstallation of his previous service. My father is on a fixed income and does not have money to spare. I am thankful the he has his wits about him and did not yield to undue sales pressure. Shame on you ADT!!!!
I purchased an ADT home security plan through a door to door salesman. The setup and service were quick. Beside the home security update, I also get the camera doorbell and a motion sensor camera for my backyard. They both worked as expected until the last couple of months until I started to notice that the backyard camera no longer recorded and saved on the motion in the radius that is supposed to like it used to. It only saved when there is a bad (windy, storm, etc.) weather and "hit" the camera. A month or 2 later, the camera doorbell also stopped working even after I tried to reset it a few times. They quickly scheduled a tech guy to come out and tried to fix the issues. The doorbell working properly again, however, he wasn't able to fix the backyard motion sensor and wasn't sure on what could cause the issue.
Before they contact the authorities, the monitoring company has to make contact with you. If you don’t answer, they call a backup contact first and will contact the authorities if that person doesn’t answer. If you do answer, it’ll be up to you to determine if you want the police sent to your home. Police response time may vary depending on how busy the police department is.
A word about wireless protocols: In a perfect world, all home security components would use the same wireless standard to communicate with the main hub, but factors such as power requirements, signal range, price, and size make it virtually impossible to settle on just one. For example, smaller components such as door/window sensors typically use Z-Wave or Zigbee technology because they don't require a lot of power and can be powered by smaller batteries. They also operate in a mesh topology and can help extend the range of networked devices. However, neither protocol provides the bandwidth that you get with Wi-Fi, which is why it is usually used in security cameras to provide smooth video streaming, and in other devices that require a fat pipe. Moreover, Z-Wave and Zigbee devices are connected and controlled using a hub, while Wi-Fi devices can be connected directly to your home network and controlled with an app. Finally, Z-Wave and Zigbee devices use AES 128 encryption, and since they operate in a closed system with a dedicated hub, they offer more security than Wi-Fi devices.
A smart lock is typically part of a robust smart home security setup, but you don't have to invest in a full-blown system to use one. If you're using a home automation hub to control things like lighting and thermostats, you can add a Z-Wave or Zigbee smart lock to the system without much effort. Alternately, if you don't have a home automation hub, look for a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth lock that comes with its own mobile app. Smart locks use standard pre-drilled holes and are fairly easy to install. There are a few things to consider before jumping into a DIY system. For starters, you'll have to figure out what kind of sensors you want and how many you'll need. Ideally you'll place door sensors on every doorway into your house. I have had ADT service for 5 years. This is after my cabin had a break in. The only problem I have had is the door sensor fell off and I was able to repair this myself. I can arm and disarm the equipment remotely by cellphone. When the alarm went off one time they were very responsive. Customer service advised me how to replace the battery in the key fob. My only complaint is I was given a discount for paying for multiple years in advance and this was not offered in future years. I requested additional yard signs and these were provided at no additional charge. I am satisfied with their service.

We have had ADT for 3 years & have never had any problems. We have recommended it to friends & they have had it installed & have had no problems either. Last year a Vivint salesman came to our door & my husband invited him in.  I was not home so my husband spoke with him. The Vivint salesman put his feet on our coffee table while trying to talk my husband into cancelling our contract with ADT. Very unprofessional! We definitely will stay with ADT.
1 week ago I agreed on the price I would pay monthly for the alarm service with ADT. The installer came today and the prices of what we had talked on the phone were very, very different, but the surprise was that when the installer came to my house she began to uninstall the existing alarm system and after all that she tells me that the price was different from the one I had agreed on by phone so therefore I canceled the service and had the old alarm system reconnected

We had a technician come out and perform the installation and once that was complete we started using the system. A year after transferring service to my new home, I had an issue with the keypad. I called my local ADT office to have them come out and repair it, only to be informed that they never actually transferred the service to my new address!

Thanks to my ADT alarm system, my autistic son is thriving today… Being the parent of an autistic child is very challenging, specifically when his sleeping pattern is so off that we (the parents) are completely exhausted. I had my ADT system for a while and actually was planning on opting out of it. Because I had more “important things” to take care of. One day while at work, the person I left in charge of my child fell asleep, my 3 year old wanderer was actually about to open the door, and the alarm send me an alert as well as another to the police. I’d called home to make the sitter awarded of the situation. That alarm didn’t stop an stranger from entering, but stop my son from being harmed or taken… Thanks ADT….

When I was a kid, we had ADT in the house and my parents raved about the service. When I had to choose my own service once I got older, of coarse I chose something familiar. BIG mistake. I guess they have just gotten so money hungry/rich over the years they just don’t care about customers at all any more. All we are to them are q notch in their sales quota. From outdated equipment, to lack of knowledge of the customer service department. They should really have TRAINING in the services and equipment they provide opposed to “training” on how to read the screen prompts ….heaven forbid those don’t work or they stumble around and want to transfer you etc….you have more a chance of figuring things out on your own, or better yet let a kid do it. They seem to have more knowledge nowdays than any customer service rep REALLY has. Plain and simple…..I will NEVER be using ADT again.
i love the fact of having a security system for my family i dont like the fact i have to pay alot for things to be covered under the system every window door and camera is extra.i love having a keypad but the response is very slow i dont like having a gap if the alarm goes off to when they contact you they should be calling as soon as alarm goes off the customer service is great price is ok but they should offer better packages to secure house instead of everything extra
We had ADT service for about 3 years in Columbus, OH. We “tested” the system several times, when our cat would accidentally set it off, or when we would by forgetting to turn it off and then opening the door. And every time the company quickly contacted us, always very professional and calmly asked for our security code. I felt very confident that in a true emergency they’d be just as responsive!
New service phone calls to the company may result in a transfer to a company known as Protection 1. Earlier in 2016, ADT announced its acquisition by asset management company Apollo which also owns Protection 1. The two companies, in essence, are now “merged”. Protection 1 serves customers out of ADT’s service region, and vice versa. However, ADT may not mention this relationship before transferring you.

I just called in to upgrade to Pulse and it took alittle bit of figuring out with the customer support but I got it and I only have to pay another 1 time fee for the technician to come and replace my panel and add some new equipment. I'm really excited for it and their cameras are top notch from the research and comparison I have done.

They've always called me each time my alarm goes off which is good for me as I am both a Mother and work a full time job. Initial quote and installation was misleading. We were quoted $39.99, plus a gift card and additional “credit” towards equipment. We were told if we didn't agree with the package we could decide not to install. Turns out the package I discussed with the original sales agent was $52.00 a month plus 4 payments of $400 for equipment. The technician was persistent and after stating several times we would like to crunch numbers before deciding due to the new quote, did not listen and kept installing. Did not give us the products we asked. I was charged twice for installation, once after my initial phone call and the second time after the installation.

We have been with ADT for over a year and so far we are satisfied with the service provided. We did have a problem with incessant beeping only to realise that the battery was running low. A technician rectified the problem within two days. He was very courteous and removed his shoes without being asked to do so.
