November 6th 2018, I had the worst experience with a customer service manager who works for account management in Jacksonville, Florida. She was so nasty with me and spoke to me with so much attitude and no respect. She was not polite, nor did she mention her name when asked. I had to get her name from another representative the next day. I also asked her to read her notes so that she can familiarize herself with my situations and how many times I have been in contact with her department and she refused to do so. Porsha F abruptly hung up on me out of frustration and also sent me a bill for over 1000$ out of frustration and threatened to send me to the debt collection agency.

In regard to ADT customer service, the BBB rating varies by area. For example, Florida headquarters provide excellent customer service and maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. This is mainly because ADT relies on company authorized independent dealers whose customer support agents might not be up to par with ADT’s standards. Remember to check locally and read reviews before committing to a provider. Also, look for a dealer that is BBB accredited.
You're bang on there, Ann. In times when the economy is not in the pink of its health, the incidents of burglaries and thefts have shoot up considerably in the country. I think people should start taking home security seriously and stop thinking that the chances of thieves breaking into their homes is negligible and as early as possible, should go with a good security company like ADT or Protect America, and secure their homes and future.
Their products have stayed up to date. They do a lot of product testing and data gathering before launching a new product into their lineup. Because of this careful consideration (and lack of bugs in their app) I will continue to be loyal to ADT. I have friends that go with other companies only to suffer lots of technical problems, faulty equipment and things that can only be worked out over years of testing with millions of users.

Apple is one of the biggest tech giants in the world. Their cameras on display is iSmartAlarm iCamera Keep Pro. The video resolution and frame goes for 1080p. Field of views goes up to 140 degrees. Night vision is included and has cloud and local. The pros are sharp image quality, motion tracking, mechanical pan & tilt, free cloud and local storage, time-lapse, and works with IFTTT and iSmartAlarm security system. The cons are pricey and pan and tilt is a little sluggish.
Netgear Arlo Pro 2: The video resolution and frame goes for 1080p. Field of views goes up to 130 degrees. Night vision is included and the camera uses cloud storage. The pros are excellent-quality 1080p video, weatherproof, rechargeable batteries, supports IFTTT and Alexa voice commands, pre-buffered video recording, continuous recording capabilities, and free and subscription-based cloud storage. The cons are expensive, requires hub (included), and many features are only available when plugged in.
One day, I burned some food on the stove and set the fire alarm off.  The phone rang immediately.  I mean, I didn’t need any help or anything, but the speed of their response was impressive.  The one time I did need this alarm was when I got robbed.  Some kids apparently walked out of my house with my most valued posession in broad daylight on a weekday.  Unfortunately, like I said, I hadn’t been setting the panel anymore.  So I had to make an insurance claim.  I’ve had no problems with the product or the monitoring service.  The only thing I would warn people about is in making the habit of using it.  I’m now considering adding video cameras, which has brought me here so I wanted to leave my 2 cents behind.  Thanks.
5 years ago my next door neighbors were robbed. I’m not sure what they took but what we knew was that there house had been watched for days by this guy. None of us in the neighborhood felt safe. We got ADT right after that & haven’t regretted it since! We’ve never had a REAL incident but my uncle had come over once late after a night out. As soon as the alarm went off so did the phone. ADT was quick to respond. We all sleep better with ADT!
The ADT Essentials plan for basic digital monitoring service has a limited lifetime warranty on parts and labor, something that other competitors do not offer. If you want additional protection, the Essentials Plus package includes 2-way voice monitoring. Like all plans, this one includes monitoring for police, fire, and medical emergencies. However, both plans require customers to have access to their own landline phone.

After being a customer for the past eight years, I tried to upgrade. My monthly price had exceeded $60 a month with old features. I scheduled to installs with the sales department. After hanging up the local office calls to confirm appointment they told the tech will collect the total payment. I said this was not agreed upon. Each time I had to call Customer service to try and straighten it out. Its been a total nightmare.
ADT is not an honest company. Worse company ever. Very bad customer service , useless and they toss you around from one vendor to the other!End result nothing we can do , just pay your bill and shut the hell up.I would never recommend this company to anyone and I will make sure my comments are showing on every social media .Bottom line, they don’t tell you that you are locked in a 3 year contract ,and if you relocate , they will renew your contract for a new 3 years term!What a rip -off.

Honeywell was first formed in 1906 and is the oldest company on this list. Their camera on display is Honeywell Lyric C2 Wi-Fi Security Camera. The video resolution and frame goes for 1080p. Field of views goes up to 145 degrees. Night vision is included and has cloud and local.  The pros are sharp daytime image quality, pre-buffer recording, local and cloud storage, supports IFTTT integrations and geofencing, and works with Alexa voice commands. The cons are does not integrate directly with other Honeywell devices and night vision image quality is soft.
More lenient cancellation policies: Most home security companies have strict cancellation policies, and if you cancel before your contract is up, you’ll usually be required to pay 100% of the remaining charges. If you cancel ADT monitoring service, you’ll have to pay only 75% of the remaining charges, which is better than most of the other companies in the industry.

ADT monitoring has yet to let me down even with my little kids around the home. I only got a basic security system so I can't really compare or say it's better than "X" company but definitely works for a mother of 4 who wants some added peace to her life! My husband is gone a lot and he likes being able to check what's going on in and outside of the home thru the Pulse monitoring app. This is how I got him to buy the system for us in the first place ;).

Look for a model that offers a high resolution (1080p), a wide angle lens (140 to 180 degrees), a night vision range up to 25 feet, and affordable cloud storage for recorded video. Sometimes it's helpful to be able to see what happened just before or after a visitor approaches your door. For that, you'll need a doorbell that uses pre-buffering to record the action taking place before motion is detected or the doorbell is pressed.

From what customers are saying, once you actually get the ADT system in your home, everything will be fine. It’s ordering and installing that usually give people a bit of a headache. Our advice is to keep an open mind about what equipment you may need, keep track of your budget, and schedule a work-from-home day or day off (if possible) when installation day comes. That way, you stay feeling in control and a part of the process.
The installer came out and was polite and early. His manager showed up and seemed to rush him through everything. When setting up sensor they mis keyed motion sensor as door sensor which I caught later and had to have adt phone support fix. Then 24 hours later a window sensor fell off window. I reinstalled it and it functions as should now. When I paid for equipment I gave him credit card and I specified I wanted the monthly billing going to different card. He had both cards and whether he didn't enter is right or just didn't care it all ended up on one card. Low and behold a month later I have a hard pull showing up on my credit report. So now I have involved equifax credit bureau and have contacted defender security directly who was supposed to review things and get back to me in 24-48 via phone call and send letter via usps. After 5 days I had to call back to find out that they sent a letter and the person I was speaking to couldn't help me any further. 

It was the most recent technical problem that convinced me that using ADT was a big mistake. When we installed our system, we added a new feature to automate the garage doors (this was brand new and NOT using any of the old equipment left by the prior homeowners). After about 3 months, one of the garage doors went “offline” and couldn’t be reset. The technician that was sent out replaced the associated equipment, and iit started working again. A few weeks later, the second garage door went offline and couldn’t be reset. This time, the technician that was sent out informed me that my garage door opener brand is incompatible with ADT equipment and will continue to short circuit and burn out as a result. There was no recommended fix for this problem, and that ADT only learned of this issue about a year ago. However, this equipment had been installed only a 3 or 4 months prior, so I do not understand why ADT would have allowed this installation if they knew about this issue. Nobody has been able to explain why they moved forward with the installation, so my conclusion is that it resulted from ADT’s inability to communicate with their sales force and technicians (keep in mind that the technician that came out to service garage door #1 wasn’t aware of this situation, while the technician that serviced garage door #2 DID know).
In my initial consultation, the representative recommended only alarm hardware, but that was because I was still stunned by what I'd paid for the house, so I was trying to save money by avoiding home automation equipment. My second consultation was to review the Pulse system, which meant home automation was part of the assignment. Frankly, knowing what I know now, I would have opted for the home automation equipment even if I was just a regular customer. Yes, there's a price difference as you'll see in the next section, but for my money it's worth it.

I bought $2k+ of equipment after being told that the equipment was transferable to a new residence since I was installing it in a rental residence I did not own. It was explicitly explained that I was renting and would be moving within 3 years and was promised I could take all equipment with me to be installed in another home. When I moved I was informed that the equipment cannot be transferred but that a $500 moving credit is given, however the new home I was moving into had "a better system" and the $500 credit would cover the little bit of equipment I was missing to give me an "even better system" than I had in the previous home. New contract was signed based on this. No new equipment was installed - turns out the only existing equipment was a couple of door sensors and hard wired alarm pads, which were not used. There are no sensors on windows or 3 of the 5 doors. My last home had over ten window sensors and 5 door sensors as well as 2 alarm pads at entry doors. Now I have two doors protected and one alarm pad that can only be used in a room that is not a primary entry point and would require me to run across the house to disarm every time I enter my home. It is a 3 year contract that has to be paid in full so I am now paying for services for 3 years that cannot be used and were sold under completely false pretenses. The company refuses to deliver what was promised and continues to try to get me to buy more equipment to get what i already paid for. What's more is that I had a 3 year contract in the previous home that they reassigned to another 3 year contract after having already fulfilled 2 years of the first contract - this is not what was explained to me, I was told the new contract was for the 1 year difference. I either have to cough up $800+ to cancel the contract or continue to pay for monitoring on equipment not installed.

There are a few things you should do when an ADT tech gets to your house so I am passing these tips onto everyone that reads this. First make sure you get all the signs and decals you want. Putting stickers on the back doors and windows where burglars typically come through could be a life saver. Also, make sure they walk you through how to run the Pulse app on your phone. It's really easy but I was confused on my account login information and they helped out there. Lastly, make sure to write down your verbal password (to verify false alarms) and let your whole family know. So far their security system has been what we needed!

ADT uses security equipment by Honeywell, GE, and ITI. Warranty only comes if you buy a Quality Service Plan (QSP). With QSP, there is no extra charge to replace or fix faulty equipment in the first 90 days after the installation. After that, you receive free replacement parts and repairs only if you continue to pay for the QSP. Plus, any service trip costs about $25 depending on your location.
There are currently six SmartThings-ADT sensors and accessories. For security, they offer a motion sensor, door/window sensor, and a keychain remote with a panic button. Professional monitoring for intrusion and panic alarms costs $24.99/month. For life safety, they have a smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector, and a water leak sensor. I have ADT at my home and I really like it…THey are quick to call me if there is any trouble and they will come out and fix anything that is out of whack. I would recommend them to anyone for the response time and the security feel.The only issues I have had with them are the window alarms dont get them if you dont want to go home everytime it thunders..wow that was nuts..And the price seems to be a little steep..But I will keep them for my familys peace of mind..

My rating is 8.5/10. I have been with them for over 5 years and just renewed my contract to get a couple of their security cameras. They've always called me each time my alarm goes off which is good for me as I am both a Mother and work a full time job. I'm loving these new mobile controls and being able to see what's going on in my home from work within the Pulse app.
