We have had our ADT system for a month now. I researched two companies prior to choosing ADT: Vector and ADT.  Vector pushed the leased systems and didn’t want to do window contacts (just glass break and motion sensors).  ADT would sell me the system (I would own it) and would do door contacts, window contacts, glass break and a motion sensor.  Since I knew the ADT name and liked the fact that they would do the window contacts, I chose to go with ADT.  (Same prices from both companies.)

A good review post! I have been in this industry for many years and along with using many different companies so far (both at home and work) I've come back around to ADT. It's a long story but I got hosed when my small boutique moved and I was using a local security company that was charging me an arm and a leg to move and upgrade so I went back to ADT pulse after paying their cancellation fee and I'm able to use it at both my Home and Business with a discount too.
Most SimpliSafe customers report high levels of satisfaction, though SimpliSafe’s customer service is pretty unremarkable. There’s not a lot that stands out, but there’s nothing really wrong with it either. It’s just kind of there. SimpliSafe does do a great job, however, in presenting customers with a product that is so easy to use that there’s rarely a need to contact customer service in the first place. This creates a positive experience by itself, especially for a DIY system.
After doing quite a bit of research into home security systems I was referred to ADT. After speaking with a sales representative and being completely up front and honest on my end, the sales person completely lied about the equipment that would be provided, the cost of the monitoring service, AND even the offer of the referral and gifts cards with their deal.
At $44.99 a month with a one-time fee for installation and equipment, you can get ADT’s basic wireless system. This includes three entryway contacts and a PIR motion sensor that is monitored 24/7 by ADT’s monitoring centers. It also includes accessories like a keychain remote control, a digital keypad, high-decibel alarm, yard and window signs, and battery backup.
When I was a kid, we had ADT in the house and my parents raved about the service. When I had to choose my own service once I got older, of coarse I chose something familiar. BIG mistake. I guess they have just gotten so money hungry/rich over the years they just don’t care about customers at all any more. All we are to them are q notch in their sales quota. From outdated equipment, to lack of knowledge of the customer service department. They should really have TRAINING in the services and equipment they provide opposed to “training” on how to read the screen prompts ….heaven forbid those don’t work or they stumble around and want to transfer you etc….you have more a chance of figuring things out on your own, or better yet let a kid do it. They seem to have more knowledge nowdays than any customer service rep REALLY has. Plain and simple…..I will NEVER be using ADT again.
As stated, ADT supports a wide variety of other devices, including not just lights but also appliances and garage door openers. I didn't install anything on my garage door as it's essentially a large storage unit right now so I simply want to keep it locked. It's important to note that if I had wanted ADT to automate it, the company wouldn't have installed a new garage door opener, but just a Z-Wave controller that would allow me to remotely operate the opener using Pulse. This is a similar procedure for how ADT will automate your home's other appliances, should you opt for it. What's nice is that aside from remote operation, you can schedule events with most automated devices and appliances, so your home can literally perform basic tasks, like turning the heat up and down for your departure and return after a trip, letting the cleaning crew in Tuesdays at noon if you're away, and turning the front porch light on just before you get home from work every night.
November 6th 2018, I had the worst experience with a customer service manager who works for account management in Jacksonville, Florida. She was so nasty with me and spoke to me with so much attitude and no respect. She was not polite, nor did she mention her name when asked. I had to get her name from another representative the next day. I also asked her to read her notes so that she can familiarize herself with my situations and how many times I have been in contact with her department and she refused to do so. Porsha Fisher abruptly hung up on me out of frustration and also sent me a bill for over 1000$ out of frustration and threatened to send me to the debt collection agency.
So I have a ADT Alarm System in my house that was already here when I moved in and recently today the power randomly went out and came back on which I guess rebooted the system. I decided to step outside to see if everything was okay and when I opened my door the alarm went off and was extremely loud.. I held my hand over the speaker to kill most of the sound and decided to call ADT because I didn't know what to do I never had this happen to me before. When I called ADT the guy told me someone can come out tomorrow to take a look at it and stop it from making noise but I had to pay $100. This is for a security system I didn't set up, so I just had my husband unplug everything for now. Going to have the ADT rep still come out and see how much it would be for a new system to be put in. Most people probably don't fall into this situation but hope it helps nonetheless.
As mentioned, SimpliSafe updated its equipmentto enhance its already reliable features and to offer a streamlined design on par with security companies like GetSafe and Frontpoint. The new system has twice the range of the original and is “five times faster” in communicating with other equipment. SimpliSafe also reinforced the system’s back-up cellular connection so that it’s even more secure. Though we haven’t tested the new SimpliSafe equipment just yet, the advancements are promising and innovate on a system that was solid to begin with.
Hello V. We apologize for any confusion regarding your service agreement. Your contract with ADT mandates a $25 trip charge when a technician visits your home, no matter the reason. The notes from your last technician visit indicate that there is an issue with the WiFi range, not upload/download speed. Once you own the equipment, you can move ADT home security monitoring to just about anywhere in the US and all you’ll have to do is pay a small activation fee (which you may even be able to get waived) to get it started up again. ADT also offers discounted equipment with its “Mover’s Guarantee,” so there’s no need to worry if you want the service but don’t plan on staying in the same spot.
Updated on 11/21/2018: I wanted to follow up regarding the resolution to my situation. Turns out there is no resolution. I called, emailed and called again the CEO's office and they didn't can would not answer my questions. Hung up on me. Their so called Corporate Relations Manager, is a joke, she needs a back to basics training in customer service. They know they are wrong that is why they will not comment on my review. If you look at other 1 star reviews put on here after mine, you will see their response to say sorry to the customer, but mine? They won't even bother. They know I am telling the truth. Since they want to go ahead and blacklist me and remove services, that's fine. I will gladly take my money elsewhere; but they couldn't answer the one question I had for them that they are trying to use as their defense. Where does it say in the contract that they can cancel at any time and for any reason? Nowhere! Read the fine print.
I was renting a house in the countryside in North Carolina. The landlord contacted ADT to install a new alarm system in the house. The previous system was no longer covered by anyone. The install was quick and complete. The only problem being the hall motion detector which they said shouldn’t pick up the movement of a 30# elderly dog, but routinely did. They disabled that sensor and didn’t have any more issues. Whenever there was an issue, they were quick to respond via phone and on one occasion had the police meet me at the house when a true alarm came in.

If you’re renting or leasing, it may make a difference in whether you want a wireless setup or not. Wireless systems don’t require drilling, which your property owner may appreciate. Initial quote and installation was misleading. We were quoted $39.99, plus a gift card and additional “credit” towards equipment. We were told if we didn't agree with the package we could decide not to install. Turns out the package I discussed with the original sales agent was $52.00 a month plus 4 payments of $400 for equipment. The technician was persistent and after stating several times we would like to crunch numbers before deciding due to the new quote, did not listen and kept installing. Did not give us the products we asked. I was charged twice for installation, once after my initial phone call and the second time after the installation.
Accounts are not clear. Raising Payments every month. Constant harassing calls all times of the day. I really don't know what my true monthly payments are. Customer service right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Terrible customer relation. ADT is a nightmare. I am determine to get someone look into my account. Deceiving contracts. FRUSTRATING!!
This is another Apple product on display. Apple is one of the biggest tech giants in the world. Their cameras on display is iSmartAlarm iCamera Keep Pro. The video resolution and frame goes for 1080p. Field of views goes up to 140 degrees. Night vision is included and has cloud and local. The pros are sharp image quality, motion tracking, mechanical pan & tilt, free cloud and local storage, time-lapse, and works with IFTTT and iSmartAlarm security system. The cons are pricey and pan and tilt is a little sluggish.

When we purchased ADT Security Company we thought it was kind of expensive, but we were willing to pay the price because when we would drive around in nice neighborhoods we would see their signs in so many peoples yards that we assumed that they must have been a good choice. Boy, were we wrong! We did not have get the service that we expected. Our alarm kept going off at all times of the night and day. Our neighbors started started complaining. The police even came out numerous times, and they started getting frustrated with us. I was even afraid that we might be sued fro disturbing the peace. Then when we would call the company, or they would call us they were many times very rude, or irritated.
